At last, Sonny's is about to bite the bullet and put in a Salad Bar. Should be up and running in about 2 weeks. Won't have to run to Leesburg anymore!

Must be a personal thing because I like their Bar-B-Q - ribs, chicken, pulled pork and roast beef sandwiches. What's not to like?

I have to agree w Caveman on this. I think Sonny's BBQ was great. But I'm from Pennsylvania so I might not be the best judge for BBQ. :icon_hungry:

I'm with you zcaveman.
Last trip down my wife and I ate at Sonny's and had their smoked beef brisket. We thought it was great! We even went back two days later and had the same thing again. :icon_hungry:
I am glad to hear about the salad bar though.

My wife and I love our BBQ. We occasionally make a pilgrimage to Memphis for the three B's....Barbecue, Beer and Blues. We ate at Sonny's in LSL a few weeks ago and we both thought the brisket was as good as it got!!!
Wife and I loved the brisket and with the senior discount it was a excellent lunch. How can you beat lunch for two including beverage and tip for under $15.
Salad bar is coming in a few weeks
I am a Sonny's fan

We just returned from eating at Sonnys and my wife was not real happy with her baby back ribs.
Everything we had was good, but for a full slab of ribs it was real small. We spoke to the manager about it and he was not very informative about things. The waitress said she spoke with the kitchen help and they confirmed that they are now a smaller sized slab.
The manager said something about the half slabs being portioned at 1/2 lb and a full slab at 3/4lb......................he needs to take another math class.
Are they trying to save money during the summer?

Just had a 1/2 slab dinner as take-out. There were 8 ribs, seemed like what I usually get.

Hey Brostholder, wife and I were in Memphis last month and took the Pink Cadillac Limo ride from Graceland to Marlows for great Barbeque. Is that where you go? In TV, we go to Sunny's.

Just curious - how could they portion a rack? It's not like it's a steak and they can trim and use the cuttings for hamburg. A 1/2 rack is 7-8 ribs and a full rack is 15-16 ribs.
Are you saying that they buy smaller racks that weigh less?

I don't know for sure if they bought smaller or cut them down. My wife had 11ribs on a full rack and we paid full price. The actual size was even smaller then normal and had less meat.
We had no issue with the quality, taste or service, but it was the smallest full slab of baby back ribs she has ever had.

Thanks - Yes 11 ribs for full rack is short. I'll keep that in mind when I visit Sonny's again.

Sorry to get off the track, but my original post was about the SALAD BAR. Does anyone know if it's operational yet? I really don't care about the size of the BB Rib Slabs.

:ohdear: gemlady, sometimes you need a little patience here on this forum. It doesn't take much to steer the subject in a different direction.

No, they have not installed the salad bar yet. We were there Friday and asked the waitress if they had completed it yet. She said they were told it would be about two weeks two weeks ago and nothing yet.

Thanks Chuckinca.... Can't believe I didn't know where that was! I was just at the Villages Golf Cart store about a month ago....right next door!
We'll have to try Sonny's in September, when we're there.
Thanks....

Welcome
Think we will be back in TV in October - have to try out the new Sonny's salad bar that should be open by then.
