We had a pool put in. They tore up the sprinkling system and say it's on us to have fixed. Any recommendations as to who can do that?

How torn up is it? one head ? or a severed zone that is now flooding the yard?
Have you made the final payment to the pool installer?
You may want to get an estimate to get the repairs done first and see if this is worth chasing. That is a reasonable start to getting your irrigation system back to working.
Good Luck and let us know who the installer was and how you end up.

that's a total bummer. I would start with calling home warranty only to ask which company installed your irrigation system unless you already know who it is. Ours was installed by MICO and they will also work on it on a $ basis. It seems that they would know your system and could remedy it the quickest. Good luck.

Yikes! They, your pool company, knew from the start what would happen to your sprinkler piping. Not very nice.

First, please pass along the name of the pool installer so the rest of us can avoid them. Then file a complaint with seniors against crime and the BBB. Then as noted above, get estimates for the repair, and explain the the pool company that you expect them to cover the cost.
Hope this helps.

We've had a few estimates for building a pool in our new house. All estimates included lawn restoration plus irrigation removal and relocation in the finished areas. The only company that would not delete that cost in their estimate was T&D here in TV. I imagine they don't delete it for this very reason. They are concerned with getting the job done right with the one stop shop approach. FYI, we decided not to have a pool built. I did think that the additional $4,000 was a bit excessive but it does eliminate any issues afterwards. Good luck.

Wow. My son is getting a pool installed and the company doesn’t do the sprinkler modifications, but advised him to get it done before they started digging the site. Cost him $200 to have someone out to survey the sprinkler system and cap the appropriate spots so the remaining landscape would still be covered.

Looking at Google it seems possible that your home insurance may cover the damage by a contractor. Was there a discussion about tearing up the sprinkle system before the work began?

We had T&D put ours in and they rerouted the pipes and 9 Zone wiring system. No extra charge.

It was the same when we had our pool installed. We knew up front irrigation lines was our responsibility.
Wonder if OP was made aware earlier?

We had a birdcage installed, contractor told us of the need to move irrigation lines, and made arrangements to have this done once the forms were in place for the concrete pad (we were told NO active water lines allowed under concrete pads, except for the original house plumbing). There were 3 lines (zones) involved, each was identified and new lines installed to maintain the correct zones.
As I mentioned above, this needs to be pursued with BBB and Seniors Against Crime.

You obviously didn't use T&D and are learning you get what you pay for. Chip Parish does great irrigation system work.

The OP has not come back and many are suggesting reporting the contractor for doing something wrong. But nowhere does the OP say he was not aware that he would be responsible for any needed irrigation line repair. We've had posters say that it only cost $200 to get it done, and others that T&D wanted $4000 to cover the lawn and irrigation part of the job. So it is entirely possible that the OP all along knew that he had to bear this cost. You either pay the pool contractor who subcontracts the work and takes a cut or you pay it directly to the irrigation man which ultimately would likely be less expensive. I don't see any evidence that the pool company did anything wrong unless the OP comes back and says the company promised to either not damage the irrigation lines or that the expected damage would be paid by the company not the homeowner.

Of course no extra charge, but I guarantee you paid for it in the original charge. They didn't do it for free. You just paid T&D instead of paying some other person/company to do that part of the job. And apparently per another poster, T&D won't let you delete that piece of the contract to get your own person, which suggests it has some significant built in profit. Perhaps you can look at your bid/contract and see what they charged for rerouted pipes and wiring, if it was itemized.
