Elijah Cummings was a Hero in the field of Civil Rights. He was a highly respected African American and we all should be humbled just to speak his name. Please do not use this thread, intended to honor the man, in his death. Good people do not say negative things about the deceased.

Among all the accolades heard today, the best was spoken by a Republican colleague who said "He was a man of his word."
That says it all about a person...and it's something we'd all like to be remembered for.

He worked tirelessly to improve the community he represented and was respected and loved by everyone who met him.

His loss should touch everyone, regardless of political persuasion. He lived a life of honor and service, and was a giant among many small people in Washington DC. Those that can't find it in themselves to acknowledge the sadness of his loss speaks volumes about them.

Good people do not say negative things about the deceased.

That sure is a broad statement. If one is a POS in life, they are not any better in death.

RIP, Mr. Cummings. You were always one of my heroes — for your words, your deeds and your willingness to not just listen but to hear. Thank you for your years of service to this great nation.
