Does anyone know the history about the lighthouse at Sumter Landing? Was it manufactured? Or was it dismantled from some other location and then moved here? Looking for some facts.

I would think it is all part of the facade.

I would think it is all part of the facade.
Agree. All the landmarks are bogus!

I bought it hook, line, and sinker when I first moved here. Ten years later, I read the plaque again and realized it was just all part of The Villages Facade. I was so disappointed. So I pretend that's its true!

We weren’t here when Sumter Landing was built so don’t have as answer for you. Perhaps the Daily Sun archives might have information as the lighthouse was being constructed around 2004-05. We first purchased in TV April of 2006. I do remember going to the Lighthouse shortly after that and the restaurant was screened instead of glass and air conditioned. That was changed and business there picked up. We love the sunset from the Lighhouse and boardwalk.

It is true!!!! THAT light house keeps many large vessels from crashing against the shores.;)
Here is the rumor I heard....that a person associated somehow with Disney helped draw and design Spanish Springs and Lake Sumter Landing. I wouldn't be surprised. It is delightfully done.
I love the whimsey and the beauty and the place and how it is run. (I bet you knew that)

I was told the tunnel system was designed by a Disney employee who designed the underground tunnel system under Disney. Since that expertise existed I would believe that more than design SS and LSL

Heard some years ago that the Lighthouse was purchased from a friend of the Morses who actually has it on his ranch.

I always feel sorry for the employee who walks around the glass top all night, shining a torch out to make it more authenic. :)
