Received a phone call with a 352, area code our phones do not use the 352 area code -the call said my wife's name and wanted to know if she was the owner, I said I am one of the owners and asked the caller what is Florida Fast--the call was then terminated
When I attempted to call back 352-683-3619--I was informed the # was disconnected
Be very careful, and never say "YES"

I think calling back is a risky idea, especially if the area code is unknown. You could be making an overseas call that will appear as an expensive charge on your phone bill. And, your provider will not remove the charge because of international agreements to collect phone charges for overseas companies.

If the number is not on my contact list it gets deleted.
There is nothing they could say to entice me to follow up...NOTHING (hey this could be used on another thread!!).

If you feel like you want to know where the call came from just Google the number that called you instead of calling them back. I believe that just triggers more calls. Several days ago I activated Hiya. It has been catching these ******* calls before the phone rings. Verizon's service is marginal. I'm really upset about all these calls.

I'm able to block numbers via Comcast but it's limited to 60 numbers which I have already hit, we get several of these per day. Any suggestions?

We have NoMoRobo which is effective on calls outside 352 and 8** numbers while letting local medical calls through. Provided at no charge because we have Spectrum. Need to enter 352 numbers to block. If we don't recognize on caller ID we do not answer....they can leave a message.

I bought these Panasonic phones from Amazon, answering machine and four phones and blocks 150 numbers for $80. I did fill it up after about a year and a half, cleared it out once and I blocking again. I have Century Link and nomorobo is not available for CL.

I use the free version of Hiya as well, and it does ok. The app claims to have an enormous database of flagged spam/telemarketing, etc. but I find that I usually flag most of the calls myself. Not sure that the paid version is better as it claims to ID the caller, but it would seem to me that you are paying for the caller ID, it is not going to block the calls any more effectively unless the phone number is flagged. I therefore make it a habit to not answer a call from a number not on my contact list, but will let the call go to voicemail. I then check voicemail later and if there is no message, I block the number using Hiya. I have had some partial messages left by a computer, so those numbers I block and report to Hiya. Note that I have received many calls from a Michigan area code which is the same area code as my phone number, and these tend to be cloned numbers.

How does that work with the automated calls from medical offices to remind one of their appts and to confirm same?

It is available at Best Buy I just use cell phone now but I used to have one of those a couple years ago up north (similar device). It caused a problem when my father's automated help call came through when he pushed his "I've fallen and can't get up" button and was taken to the hospital. The calls didn't all come from same number and I never got it. It also doesn't stop "live" call spammers who just press the number but other than those caveats they work well.
