Is The Villages spraying anymore? I am in the Village of Fernandina and mosquitos are horrible right at sunset. How are they in the Squares at night? I have been here 4 years and have never seen them this bad.

We have been here 6 years (just south of 466a) and were at an outdoor party Oct 31st, and the mosquitoes were bad, this is the first time I was bitten multiple times, 9 to 12 on my ankle alone. As for your question, I do not recall seeing the spraying truck recently.

:ohdear: The Villages doesn't spray..... never did. At our home Sumter Co. sprays. G.G. posted a link to Sumter Co. It has a lot of contact info. PHONE, FAX, EMAIL , and even a Customer Satisfaction Survey. My guess is sadly few will read it.

I have seen the truck that goes around with a fog machine in our area and nearby. Usually latter at night when most people are in for the night....

They have been terrible at Brownwood. Numerous ankle-bites at Bluefin and in the square. Before this year, I hadn't been bitten in The Villages at all.

Living in Santiago, I use to see the truck numerous times during the summer around mid-night. Haven't seen it lately. However, my wife and I sit out almost every night from before sunset till after sunset and there have been no mosquitos at all. We do see these little black sand flea type bugs occasionally that do like to bite sometimes.

The end of October through the beginning of November seems to be peak mosquito season. Should get better soon.

I no longer will go to Brownwood from dusk on....just not worth it, getting eaten alive every time. The area around Osceola Hills is also deadly for me. Really don't spend time south of 44, but based upon my history south of 466A, I'm staying north.

Here is the scoop: The developer has a deal with one of the connections to the " Family " to bomb The Villages on a regular schedule. Obviously they have had a family " Tiff ' so...we us the residents are the victims.

The Developer controls practically everything yes they do especially when it comes to $$$ ...........................Period

Grin and accept it. Or Leave

We've only been back for 5 days, but the first thing we noticed that was different from other years was mosquitoes running us off the front porch. Never had that before. They like my husband better than they like me. He's sweeter. But something is definitely different from recent past years when we've been here year-round.

Just a thought, and probably nonsence, BWTH.

Could it be that all the areas being cleared, and now under development, have reduced the breeding grounds mosquitos used before, so they are seeking remaining water/swamp areas to use?
Most wildlife displaced by development move to new locations after losing their space, why not bugs?

I haven't seen a problem in Mallory Square. Do the mosquitos get inside the screened lanai area?

Just a suggestion for those who want to enjoy outdoor space.... When I garden, I wear citronella bracelets; one on my left ankle and one on my right wrist. They seem to work really well keeping bugs away during the day. The citronella packaging says it will keep mosquitoes away.

Citronella bracelets can be purchased in drug stores, and I would imagine Target and Walmart have them too. There are plenty to choose from on Amazon also.

The bugs, whatever kind they were at the Dunkin Donuts next to The Bluefin were out of hand last week!

Spraying seems to have lessened or stopped in The Hysterical Section and other than the LoveBugs we still have few bugs. The first three years we were here we had NOTHING, zip, zero, zilch! Lovebugs excluded! Whatever, I'm sure it will be taken care of.

:ohdear: GG posted the same LINK Friday in post #5. I'm  Why do you think they will open it for you. The majority of posters don't don't want facts..... they want to complain. This is post #23 How many people do you think opened a link and called the County? How many read all the posts before posting the same answer? Anyway..... thanks for trying to help! :ho:

I sent a message to them last week from the website— hoping that it works. Mentioned they should go to Talk of the Villages to read this thread as complaints are all over the Villages. What prompted me? I was buzzed and bitten one night trying to lift something out of my golf cart... it’s November after all... and they are worse.

They can't fly now. They are wearing their winter coats.

Okay, now I see a pattern. Perhaps, even though Sumter county sprays, they do not include the City of Wildwood, which includes Brownwood, and all those new areas down south, which are either Wildood or Lake county.
