First I have to assume that you clicked on the hide/unhide icons in the system area of the taskbar to make sure it is not just in the hide icons location. If it is in the hidden list, the following does not apply. Let me know and I can show how to unhide it.

Go to Start>Control Panel and click on Performance and Maintenance. Click on Power Options. Click on Power Meter and make sure that Show Details for each battery is checked. Go to the advanced tab and make sure Always show icon on the taskbar is checked.

That should do it.

Go to Start, type in "Taskbar" - click each tab (not sure what tabs you'll have) until you find "notification area" and it will ask you to click what icons you want to always show

another way you can do this, is right-click on the task bar, go to properties, find where it says icons and put a checkmark on "power" - hope this helps !
