I would like to bring to your attention a program that provides an education in US History to some and a refresher to others.

The Glen Beck show. Now hold on a minute. I know that most of you will consider him political and you are right Monday Thur Thursday. What I am talking about is Fridays @ 5 PM during this Summer. It is all about our founding fathers. It is a history lesson. Give it a try once or twice, you might find it fun and educational.

I think you'll enjoy it.

Yoda, I am so glad you posted this. I am a history and news junkie. The Founders' Friday shows are exceptional. I have learned more from these shows than you could imagine. I have recommended the shows to family members and other friends who aren't politically minded and some who are. The feedback I've gotten from all of them is very, very positve. I even have an 11 year old niece who is hooked on Beck's Friday history lessons.

Been watching it whenever possible and find in very informative and always learn something new. Everyone who I know who has seen it says the same. Not your typical Beck show at all.

Also, not all of the shows are about black founding fathers. It is important, mainly to see how history that is taught today, isn't history that happened.

But anyway, has anyone heard of the Voices from the Days of Slavery project?

It is a collection of recorded interviews with former slaves done between 1932 and 1975. The audio isn't so great but the transcribed text of the interviews and the recordings are available through the Library of Congress. I've listened to them and read the transcripts. It was actually a project through the Progressive Works Progress Administration.

The interviews aren't widely known, IMHO, because life as a slave wasn't what you may have been taught in your history lessons.

The first laugh was another posting asking about the rumor that the developer charges $50 for each electrical outlet...wasn't sure if it's an annual or monthly fee!

I have to apologize for taking the subject off base by responding in a juvenile manner to saratogaman. By acting like I'm in elementary school and responding with a response that seemed, after I stood back and re-read my response, like an childish "my father is stronger than your father" reaction, I realize I forgot the message was history and education. I am sorry. This subject is too important to be subjected to that sort of thing.

I'll vouch for Yoda. I don't like Glenn Beck. Taking up a challenge Yoda issued to someone else, I decided to watch, for one week. My first show was Friday's installment and, on Fridays, he runs a different kind of show called "Founder's Fridays".

This is WAY different from the clips I usually see. It was informative, educational, rational, surprising and, in a manner of speaking, anger-inducing in the respect that I was angry I hadn't heard of these missing parts of our history (and I'm a fan of history).

I was pretty much able to verify almost every word Beck said.
