I took these with my IPhone. The kid is between 3 and 4 years old.

Looks like he can't reach either the pedals or steering wheel from there.
And don't even start on the seatbelt.
How about Dad is a total idiot and will probably find a reason to sue Walgreen's if the kid falls!

Looks like Dad has fallen asleep behind the wheel. Hope he doesn't wake up and peel out with the kid still on the roof.

I guess if I had to nit pick I would like to see the subject of the photo moved slightly off center. The lighting could be better, but for an iPhone I think they are pretty good.:duck:

I'd say it looks like North Carolina where it's been 107 degrees and Mountain Dew should never be left in the back of a truck in these temperatures. What were they thinking?

Almost as bad as the 5 kids (older boy driving) in a 2 seat golf cart, who took a quick right turn into the Truman Rec Ctr the other day with no indication of any intended turn.
They were very lucky it was me driving behind them and I was paying attention as they crossed 2 lanes.
Or......the 3 young girls zooming around recently going to the pools in Grandma's golf cart, with none appearing older than 10.
Sadly, I fear it's going to be something tragic that wakes up the enablers.

They are just sitting there waiting for momma to come out with her purchases. It is obviously not too hot or the kid would not be sitting there. I guess he is safer there than walking up and down the sidewalk.
It is also probably cooler up there than sitting the car.
Not a problem in my book.

I believe the things mentioned in your post are very dangerous and IMO very different than the situation depicted by TH's pictures.

I'm inclined to agree with Z. I climbed trees at that age. BTW, look again. The dad could be keeping an eye on the kid, not snoozing.
Now what's weird is that big pencil sharpener next to the Mountain Dew in the truck.

I wouldn't have allowed my child to climb onto the roof. Would they have gotten hurt? Probably not - but the next time dad goes to close the sun/moon roof during a storm and nope - it aint gonna work. Then blame it on mom.
Let me guess - none of you as kids had ever ridden in the bed of a pick up truck going down the street or heaven forbid ride down a snow covered hill head first on your flexible flyer. And no helmet? Woe is me.

Sorry to have disturbed your senses on this issue. After nearly 40 years in emergency services, I am super sensitive to dangers posed to children. After seeing about 100 dead ones from vaious bizarre situations, one becomes sensitive.
I personally would never let my children sit on the roof of a car. That's just me. I don't think my father ever let me sit on ours either. That's just him.

I fail to see any impending danger especially since the car is parked and Dad is sitting right next to the kid...gn
