While looking at many of the new Courtyard Villas in the mid 200K to low 300K price range, I noticed that many of the models are no longer the models that they were. The kitchens were downsized to the attached picture. Would this new kitchen with so few cabinets work for you?82290

Not for me but many folks here don’t cook. Perfect for them.

Looks like there is a pantry just across the hallway.

We noticed that the kitchens were changing and becoming very small along with a bar that is counter height which we did not like across the board. In addition, as mentioned, the price was high. For this reason we bought back in March while we could still find the kitchen we liked. Not worth it in my book.

I have a rental with guests who stay months at a time. It is also equipped with a whole house electric monitor. And plenty of kitchen equiptment, in a large kitchen. If I am interested I can see what is on at any moment. I don't but I do look at the monthly consumption (by minutes used and wattage) wrap up for this all electric home.

People use the microwave more and not the oven by a long shot. This holds true for over 70% of the guests.

People don't cook and I have ample data to support this.

There is no other word to use for that so-called kitchen than ridiculous. No, actually, another adjective would be absurd!
Even if the adjacent closet is a pantry, the developer should still be ashamed of themself for approving and building that monstrosity.

Even if a resident rarely cooks, those two cabinets would barely hold their dishes and glassware.
Just remember . . . Man does not live by bread alone!

I would take one look at that kitchen and walk out of the home. Deal breaker.

The double doors are the washer and dryer not a pantry.

I have a patio villa that I just bought. It’s a gourmet cooks paradise and has twice as much cabinet space as my Gardenia.
I love it no more balancing glasses on a tall kitchen bar that went out of style in 2006 . I’ve been building and selling for years. Basically the style has been all one level counter and bar. Simply get lower bar stools.
This is a perfect model for the long term renter!

The HGTV “open concept” fad has been overdone to the point that kitchens have become showrooms instead of functional rooms. I admit that some look pretty and sleek, especially if you have appropriate space, but in most smaller homes, the open concept just isn’t practical for those who actually cook and need cabinet and counter space.

There are other models. If you do not like this one, then look for something else. Maybe a Villa is not what you need.

Just wondering... since open space is cheaper than space that has cabinets or etc, maybe this is yet another way to make more money?? Naw, that couldn’t be the reason - lol

I would definitely need more counter and cabinet space than that. Where do you put the racks of cookies and pastries when you're done baking? Where do you put the Keurig Cafe? Where do you keep all the pots and pans, silverware, knives and jar openers and other utensils, storage containers, dishes, potholders and dishrags... all the things that kitchens need, but are unsightly and should be put near the sink and oven but out of sight? That's not a kitchen for a house. It's a kitchen for a loft apartment.

That is not much more kitchen than I have seen in a Hampton Inn hotel suite.

Storage space is always tight and in this kitchen I would say inadequate.

If you never eat at home, if you don't join clubs so have no parties (or always buy your contribution), if you have no family to come visit and if you have no dishes, mugs, wine glasses, flatware, or cookware, this kitchen could be for you. But how would you re-sell? Looks like a house for temporary renters only. The buyer can make money by renting out for $4000 a month for 3 months--maybe. My adjective: ridiculous.

The double doors are the washer and dryer not a pantry.

I just checked the floor plan and the home has a full sized separate laundry room.

Behind the double doors is showing storage on the plan.

See the link to the floor plan below.

The photo of the kitchen in the first post of this thread does not match the floor plan shown in the link. The linked floorplan is a U shaped kitchen and the kitchen in the photo is a galley kitchen and a very small one at that. They are not the same.

I've never had a kitchen large enough to have a center island. When I recently toured the home show down south, I moved around the kitchen with a center island. I found myself going in circles. I prefer to have a straight shot from my appliances to the sink and to my main prep area. Center islands in a kitchen are not for me.

Last I knew all patio villas were built on spec, as were the great majority of courtyard villas and smaller designers. No one puts a gun to anyones head and forces someone to buy them .. And, by some stroke of magic, they are sold .. apparently to the tune of 150 to 200 homes hper month .. So anyone is free to express their opinion, but it doesn't appear to have any effect on the sales. One persons deal breaker is another persons paradise. Styles and floor plans change.

Way too small. Long term renters do cook, short term renters use the micro wave. This kitchen is tiny, way too small.

The tall kitchen bar hides whatever is on the counter. The flat, one level counter does not. Not a fan of the new kitchens & counters

The galley on our boat had way more space and storage area, too--we are cooking more & more @ home, the novelty of the restaurants & CC's here has worn off and we have a difficult time finding better meals & or unique dining experiences
