I had a terrible experience with Villages transportation (now called Workman transportation). The shuttle I reserved didn’t show up. I had paid and received a confirmation but at the point when it was 10 minutes late, another rider called and they said it wasn’t coming. We received no explanation and no apology.

Other than Uber or Lyft, anyone have a suggestion for reliable, cost effective transport to MCO?

Thanks!

Wow, we have always had good experiences with them, sorry to hear that they let you down.

If you are going with another person, you might as well hire a private driver instead of paying 2 or more fares. Almost the same cost and far more convenient.

We hire a car one way from Enterprise at LSL $90 one way. Cheaper if round trip. There is a drop off fee for one way..
Village Airport Van is door to door $80 for two, one way, also a very good service when we have used it.
The only down is they drop off/pick up on route, that can add anothe 45-60 minutes to journey, so allow time if you are catching a flight.
Car hire is most time efficient.

Eight of us traveling from MCO to TV on New Year's night had what started out to be a bad experience. Leaving MCO, our van had a left front flat on Rt. 528 approaching the turnpike. The driver was cool. Pulled over. Radioed base who responded that another van would pick us up within 15-20 minutes. Indeed, another van arrived within a half hour. (They had mad the next group of riders get off their van at the airport and then came to pick us up.) Both drivers got us safely to the second van then transferred our luggage. We arrived late to TV. Expected to be home at 1 a.m. and got in at 2:30. I was thankful for their good service in what could have been a disaster.

I wonder what the time the people who they made get off the second van got home! We hire a private car. $100 for two, tip included. We're the only ones in the car, so pick up and drop off is direct. Do a search on TOTV for some suggestions of drivers. Ours has changed names because the owner passed away and one of his drivers took it over. His name is Dave, but my husband has his number, and he's unavailable right now.

We have used Capri Transportation several times and will continue to use them. Courteous professional drivers and clean cars. Pick us up and drop us off at our home in The Villages.

Workman’s does not pick you up at your home to go to MCO. They have regular scheduled trips leaving from Lake Sumter and Brownwood.

The company that picks you up and drops you off at your home is Villages airport shuttle a different company.

We’ve used Workman’s and their predecessor for about 8 years, usually once per month. We’ve never had any problem, etc. They do have home pickup and drop off that connect to their scheduled shuttles at LSL and Brownwood.

Creative Concierge is awesome. They pick up at your home, and when they get you at the airport they come directly to your baggage area. They used to be $90 for 2, but I understand they’ve increased their price to $75 base, plus $25 per person.

What? Dave passed away? We used Daves Transport to Sanford airport without a glitch. He was fun to talk to on the phone making arrangements.

I think you misunderstood CFrance's post. The Dave you are thinking about is alive and well as far as I know. We just used his service a week ago. Dave's Airport Transportation, 352-223-4696.

I used them quite a few months back-very disappointed. First he came 1/2 hr early- which usually isnt a bad thing- but I was leaving for about 9mths-so I needed that extra few minutes to shut things down. Next as I was getting into the van, the driver wanted me to sit upfront...I told him no (I have a true issue riding with other drivers)...I told him- he still insisted, then I just climbed into the back...he took my bags, put them in then slammed the back and also slammed the side van door..to then screech away skweeling tires like a child... which made me and the other 2 riders very nervous.
...it was horrible.

I've always used the Village taxi.
They've been great!
I travel with a 60 lb dog, her kennel, 2 suitcases and a carry the from Lady Lake to MCO and back home from trip.

No. The Dave we use drove for Witte. Mr. Witte passed away, and his wife Jane took it over. But she apparently is not scheduling anymore, and Dave is out on his own. Sorry for the confusion.

My husband hadn't left the area so he came back and drove us (there were 3 of us impacted).

Will they pick up at MCO after midnight? My son’s flight arrives at 12:15am and he’d like to get a ride directly to our rental home. I think he can take Uber but was wondering if there is another option.

There is a new delivery service in The Villages Airport Shuttle Service - Groome Transportation - Book Online (https://groometransportation.com/)

Groome Transportation is a large national company now servicing The Villages to Orlando International. Their price is $19.00 per person and have 20 trips daily. My cousin uses them in Colorado and says they are great. I was told that all of the vans they are using here are new. Check out their website. It will be interesting to see how they work out here.

Are you asking about Village Airport Transportation? If so they will pick up late, or early. Some years ago my husband was delayed into the early hours of the morning due to flight problems from Europe and they kept in touch with me and picked him up when he finally arrived.
