I replaced my old tires on my 2010 Street Legal Columbia Par Car. I had to replace them with a smaller diameter tire and my speed dropped by about 3 or 4 mph. Does anyone know someone who can adjust my speed back up to where it was? I'd prefer not using the dealership to do it.

Par Car (like most electrics) speed control is adjusted by the computer. Luxus is the local dealer and they do make house calls. Unless you know a good computer hacker and the codes necessary, not sure you have a lot of option.

What does the size of the tires have to do with the speed?

Smaller tires will actually make your speedometer read higher, for a given actual speed, as the wheels will have to revolve more times for a given distance.

Forbidden (https://www.discounttire.com/learn/tire-size-calculator)

You can enter different tire sized/wheels and see how it affects MPH, height, width, and rotation.

Smaller tires require the axle to spin faster and it is my belief that the axle speed is telling the computer that it is traveling down the road faster than it really is. That's speculation, what I see is my actual speed is reduced after tires changed. About 3 miles per hour or so.

Have you checked your speed with a GPS app on your phone?

The larger your golf cart tires (https://www.golfcarttiresupply.com) are, the higher the top speed of your cart will be (and the lower the torque).

We find that 12" wheels and tires usually increase top end speed by 1-2mph. And 14" wheels and tires by about 2mph. So your smaller tires would indeed decrease your cart's top end speed.

Since the question was about Par Car, do you have the codes necessary to change the speed?

I don't have the codes for increasing the speed
