Anyone know why there is a Wildwood Police cruiser seemingly always parked in front of VyStar on 466A? Other banks nearby don't seem to have one....

I've wondered that myself. The police car seems to be a permanent fixture there.

Quite possible they pay to have it parked there for security reasons. That is a common arrangement in other jurisdictions.

 Think they would have done that without checking with us first? :icon_wink:;):icon_wink:;) Not passive-aggressiveness..... just joking!

I have been a member of VyStar (formerly Jax Navy) for over 40 years, they have always had an off duty cop in every branch I have ever visited. Just their policy I guess for security reasons.

Maybe they pay the offduty cop to be inside.

This thread reminded me of the 2003 Xerox (Rochester,N.Y.) Credit Union Robbery And Murder. I just looked it up and was surprised to read a person was just convicted 2 months ago of the crime. :ho: to L.E.O.'s everywhere.

Did you call VyStar as to the reason why? My guess, as a retired LEO, would be for security purposes - 466a right in front would make a quick getaway for anyone that robs it. If it ever happen to any of the other financial institutions along 466a; they will probably consider it also.

I go down 466A every morning on my way to MVP Gym at Brownwood and that Wildwood Police SUV has been there every morning since they opened.

Yes, I did. I was told to ask on TOTV, as one of the "Sages" would certainly know the reason.

But then, it seems odd that an off duty officer can use an official vehicle for personal remuneration.

Apparently, VyStar signs contracts with local police departments to use police officers for off duty security work. See the article below.

This person has been highly miss-informed.

Yes! An employee told me that having a police car outside is just their policy. I think that it's a very great policy!

Deter crime and speeding. Sometimes cars are parked unmanned in the round abouts. Ive seen police cars parked with blow up dolls behind the wheel.

We laughed yesterday when we saw an actual cop opening a door. We have noticed the car too. Glad someone answered it with a actual fact.

A sage is a TOTV member who has posted at least 2500 times.

I read all the responses to the query. I don’t understand why so many people respond if they don’t have a knowledgable definitive answer.
