My vote would be for a Maggie Moo's :coolsmiley: or a really good bakery. Really miss the Bichara bakery that was there. :mornincoffee:

It will probably remain empty like many other storefronts in the Villages. The rent is too high for many businesses to be profitable.

I'm curious. Do you have numbers and specific facts to back up your comment or is it just your opinion. I am not saying you are incorrect, I am just looking for more specific information.

No, I do not have numbers to back me up. Just friends that were employed by some of the storefronts that are now gone. The reason they closed the business was, "not enough customers to support the leases". Maybe those businesses were not a good fit for our downtowns. What kind of business would you frequent in our squares?

The rumor I heard is that the developer is planning to "redevelop" that entire corner. Just a rumor but sometimes there's truth to them.

Once Starbucks leaves, the only businesses on that street will be the radio station, Orek (and that's not going well) and Pauleys. I miss Augustines.

I have to wonder if the businesses did a good enough job on their business case prior to opening to understand if they could afford the rent with the particular business they wanted to open. In some cases it is very easy to blame the rent.

Replys were saying that the whole block will be almost empty and I was wondering if the wine store (Put a Cock In It, I believe) is still there. We returned up north in May and it was still there then.

Uhhh....... I believe it's called "Put a Cork in it". The store you mentioned probably wouldn't get much traffic. (Well maybe after hours)

That one is a perfect example of why spellcheck on its own is not always enough. We can never trust spellcheck completely. It will lull us into a false sense of security and then it will betray us.
Thanks for a great laugh today. A classic!
