I've been a "lurker" reading post, making a comment here and there, and even PM a few individuals. (mainly because I've just figured out how to do this posting stuff---I think) Anyway, my husband and I purchased a lot in Buttonwood in April and hope to build after the first of the year. Of course selling the house in Virginia is a must. Just keeping my fingers and toes crossed. We even brought sand from our lot in TV and poured it around the base of our "For Sale" sign. We've heard that is the magic needed. Would like to get acquainted with now and future Buttonwooders. Our home will be on Harding Path at the bend in the road after you pass Quiet Oak. I am taking notes each time I read post esp. concerning contractors etc... because after we close on the house we will be enclosing the lanai as an additional room and putting in a pool. Thanks to all TV's for your recommendations.

We have a lot on Abbey Way and are building at the end of this year. We also will be extending our lanai to add a pool (on the side of the house). We are going to go with T&D. In fact we already met with them to get a quick estimate and layout.

We won't be moving in until 2012 with the pool to follow.

Hi Donnie,

We also bought a lot in Buttonwood on Beecher. What street did you buy on? I'd love to find someone to talk with who also will live on Buttonwood. We will start to build next month. We will close in October. Love to hear from you.

WE have now lived in Buttonwood for 2 months on Eldon Pl, and I appreciate it every day. I enjoy living in a new neighborhood watching it grow. Eldon is right off Harding Path and I can probably look out my window next to my computer right now and see your lot. I hope that Villages sand works for you.

We are going to TV next week to pick out a site and build after the new year. It will be in Buttonwood. However, we are looking at putting in the pool when building the home rather than waiting until later. I was told it was less expensive to put it in a the same time. It sounds like you all are going to do it later. It sounds like you were told something different?

Thanks for any input. Nancy

Sometimes putting in a pool in an existing home is more expensive due to access to the back yard, and then what has to be replaced that was damaged such as plants, lawn and sprinkler system.

I was told it can be slightly less to put it while new but I have no choice since I won't be living in the home for some time. I doubt if the savings are very much. It's expensive no matter!!!

T&D told us to make sure they don't put any plants or utilities in the proposed pool area. The only thing to move will be the irrigation.

I sometimes wonder why a lot of people feel the need to put in a pool. I live in the Village of Poinciana and within a mile and a half from my house I figure there are at least 7 pools. There are a lot of improvements you will probably want to make with your new home without also spending money on a pool. However if you feel the need for your own pool go to it!!!

My husband and I were down to visit TV this past May...loved it!
We have friends that live there and we had to come down to see for ourselves.

My problem is I can not retire until May 2011 and has been told if you buy a homesite you only have six months to build. I do not want anyone living in my house before me. Basically, I want to be the first to pee in my pot!!!!

Now our Sales Agent told us some of the lots in Buttonwood are now up to one year to build. How is this possible?

I need reasurance to go to the next step!!!!!

Any help would be appreciated!!!:)

I guess the main reason people put in their own pools.....
1. Flexibility of time
2. Convenience
3. Suit or no suit!

I rented a pool home in Bonita this year and loved it!!!

I just got out of bed each morning and did my exercises to wake up in the pool. The ability to relax in the pool with MY music on was a plus. My wife always wanted an in-ground pool in her yard. So she gets what she wants:)

We bought our lot in May and were told 6 months in that subsection with the lot we chose. I did get the feeling that IF I pushed it I could negotiate something different. My agent did say that any sort of golf lot was 3 months and other premium (larger, corner, street etc.) were 6 months. Interior lots in Buttonwood were 12 months.

Hope that helps.

It seems they will give different time frames --according to how sales are going----We were there in December and were told THREE months to build on a lot we liked ---returned in JUNE they gave us 6 months in the same area .

I have read several folks getting a year --They will not waiver on price but you can work with them on the timefame.

Good Luck :beer3:

We purchased a lot on Claverton just at the beginning of the cul-de-sac. We will be down the end of July to pick out house details with the build starting in Sept. We are leaning toward a Lilly and plan to add a large bird cage on the back and perhaps wrap around the side. We got a 6-month delay from purchase of the lot. We currently have a pool in MI and it is nice but is more work then we want in our retirement. We might just buy a kiddie pool for the lanai:1rotfl: We look forward to meeting all of our new neighbors and starting our new lives in TV

That does sound great, Russ. :oHaving a pool is our way of having our own little waterfront. My husband grew up on the water and we have lived near the beach for many years so this is our way of being near water but being in our dream place TV!!!

Hi Donnie,

We purchased our lot last month in Buttonwood on Graves Place. I'm so there! We will put our home on the market in Jan. 2011. I'm going to ask my Dad to send me some sand to sprinkle on my Sale sign too!

We extended our Lanai 4 feet. We decided against a pool because our home sits between two fabulous pools within walking distance. What's great about the TV you can do whatever makes you happy.

We are so thrilled about this new chapter of our lives. Also knowing that many people are choosing to move to TV from all over the country, gives me the courage to make this huge move from California. I have some fear about leaving my kid, grandkid and friends. But TV is calling me.

Congratulations!

Hi newbies. We are "oldies" having lived in Buttonwood since May!! We live on Buttonwood Run, which was literally a dirt pile back in May, and is now almost built out. There is one vacant lot opposite our home (the end of Buttonwood Run), and one behind us which is actually Chancy. Neither have "sold" signs and we are curious as to what home style will eventually be built. Our road boasts many "At Ease" homes. Welcome to "Shangrila", this is an awesome place to live. :a040:

My closing on my Buttonwood home is Aug 16. I live on Kincord Court. I met a few of my neighbors and they seem like good people. From my experience, most people in the Villages are nice people. I'll catch up with you guys soon. PS: It used to be- "Old people came to Florida to die. These days- They come to The Villages to live."

Welcome! We made the move from CA in 2006 and haven't regretted it for even one second. You're going to love it here....and your kid as well as grandkid will love it here, too. They'll visit lots. I know you'll miss your friends, but you'll make lots of new friends when you arrive. Computers offer a great way to stay in touch with family and friends.

Buttonwood is moving right along. We drive down and check on things every so often. You're going to be in a lovely village... :)

Hi Rich/Liz,

I am currently on Long Island (From East Meadow/Ronkonkoma) We will be down to see our house from Sept 7th thru the 14th. Then back to LI for a month or so. Hope to be back in late October or the winter. Trying to get my wife to let go of the house up north and be full time Village People. On my map, my street (Kincord Court) is the last steet on the map. I'd ask the real estate guy for a more current map. We bought an Iris. Was looking for a Gardenia but the Iris was perfect. Keep in touch guys. Tom and Carol

Tom & Carol - We saw your house this week. Very nice backing up to the street like that.

As I mentioned earlier that lot was our original first choice in May but we opted for a corner lot across the street on Abbey.

Best of luck and see you soon.

Thanks Russ. The property is perfect. Because I am at three o'clock the house is set back from my neighbors on each side of me. When you look out the lanai you see neither house and because the back is facing the street I have 25 feet + another 20-25 feet for the road + another 25 feet on the other side of the raod. Instead of having my neighbor behind me 15 feet away, I have approx 75 feet. The lawn guy wants $50 a month. More than fair. Once I'm down there full time, I'd like to add a few palm trees and add some landscaping to block off the road somewhat. I met two of the neighbors already and they are GREAT. PS: My best friend lives 1.8 miloes away in Poinciena.

I was chatting with a couple of my neighbors tonight and we thought it would be nice to start a Buttonwood Social Club. Maybe we could all get together at least once a month and get acquainted. I am kinda the newbie here, but would gladly work with others to get this going, then we just continue to grow as our neighborhood fills up.
If others are interested ...let's get together.

Hi
My husband bought a house in Buttonwood on Percival Way. We will be moving in On May 22, 2011 when we bought our house we had no neighbors on either side of us and and didn't see anyone living on our end of the street. Does anyone live near 2178?
. Really excited and would like to meet the Buttonwooders also. We are from Pittsburgh, Pa and soon will be a villager.

Hi all,
We own a home in the awesome village of Hadley (so close to coffee at McDonalds) but have never lived in it. We have it rented unfurnished because we have to wait until I am 65 which will be in July 2011 ( it's the insurance thing). We were just afraid to miss out on the bubble and wanted to get our foot in the door.
Anyways, my husband was down in April and bought a new home in Buttonwood. This will be our new home in July 2011 and we are so looking forward to it. I don't want to wish my life away but I wish we were there. We will sell our home in Hadley once we honor our lease with our renters.
We are on Allure Loop on the golf side. Ours is the one with the cute turret, which is also called a witches hat (never heard that term before). We are lucky to have my brother-in-law and sister-in-law live on Allure Loop also. You might have read a post about them. They are the ones who found the lily that someone thought had been removed from a memorial bench. They thought it had fallen off a golf cart and when they found out it had been on a memorial bench they promised to replace it when they returned to TV. True to their word they returned and replaced the flower on the bench. We are blessed to have them as family and also a neighbor.
We are coming down to spend a month in Aug to furnish our home. We are bringing some things from up North but will be doing the hustle to do the rest.
We are looking forward to meeting neighbors and just being part of everything there is to offer in TV.
So, if your in the neighborhood and you see the house with the turret and a car in the drive from MA ------Wecome, the beer is cold and the wine is ready to be poured.

My husband and I are also going to be on Allure Loop, in a Lantana, on the golf course. We've heard stories that there are only two lots left to build out on that street. Ours is one of them. As soon as our home in IL sells we'll be there and get going. If the IL house is still on the market come fall-we're coming anyway! We can't wait to meet everyone!!! See you soon (we hope)...

There is a really nice lot on the left of our house. We are Unit 162 / Homesite 21. Could that be your lot ?

Hello Cricket1 -- Where in Illinois do you hail from? I'm in the N.W. suburbs of Chicago. Quite a few Chicago area people seem to be in TV. Good luck on your upcoming move to TV.

I have the option on lot 25 on Allure Loop. I hope to begin building as soon as my home in Atlanta sells. It's been on the market for 2 years. I recently had it appraised and my appraiser said the problem has got to be the market because "the house is beautiful, well maintained, and priced right". Oh well, there's nothing more I can do, but wait. :icon_bored:

We're living in a small world, aren't we? My sister-in-law lives in Schaumburg, IL! My husband and I live in Somonauk, IL. Yah, I know---it's about 25 miles southwest of Aurora. (If that helps) Thanks for the good wishes. Can't wait to meet everyone when we come----------

Well, we aren't in Buttonwood, but we are in/from Virgina. We bought a spec on Pennecamp in February. I suppose you might say we are extreme risk takers because we had carefully planned out our strategy for TV, then chucked it all in one mad moment. I am happy to say that we do not have a single instant of regret and we love our new home, even if we can't occupy full time until July 2013.

Best of luck selling your home.

Has anyone moved in on Crestview Street. We bought in February and closed on 31 March. Packing, what a job, down sizing from 2800 sq feet to 1600 sq feet is getting difficult but we are making progress. Will be moving in the end of June or first part of July. It will be a big change for us, big house, 5 acres to a smaller house on a lot. But we are looking forard to all the things to do in TV and not having to take care of some much property.

Sure I've heard of Somonauk, and of course I know where Aurora is. Lucky you to be moving soon to TV. I will be a TV wannabee until some time in the future. I will have to be content with visiting TV a few times a year for a while. :sigh:

We are building a Gardenia on Bachman Path. The house is almost complete. The two lots on either side are still vacant. Can't wait to walk thru the front doors and call it home.

We are in the process of moving down to TV and very excited about it.

If you are not ready to move in when your new home is completed, we are looking for an unfurnished rental for a one year period starting mid-October/first November. We plan to rent for one year before building due to all the choices.

The home needs to be a 3 bedroom with a 2 car garage. If interested, please contact me.

Regards,
SUSAN

Newvillagegirl,

Where in Maryland are you from? My wife and I moved from Silver Spring about 18 months ago and just love The Villages.

A match made in heaven. My wife and I are purchasing a home in Buttonwood and the closing is set for the end of June.

The address is 2121 Jordan Street in the Village of Buttonwood. The house is 2,100 sf 3BR 2 Bath. Upgrades include a new washer & Dryer, walk-in Master Bath shower, tile through-out (excluding the Bedrooms), solid surface counter tops (Corian) and a golf cart garage. It is a "Designer" home and the model is the "Holly". If you go to the villages website you can look under new homes and pick house models "Holly". Select one of the Holly's for sale to see a floor plan.

The house is new construction. You would be the first in the home.

I am currently in Virginia Beach, Va but if you want to see the home my sister-in-law lives in The Villages and can help. I believe the going rate of this size home is $1,600 but it would be negotiable. I would rather take less than to keep it empty. Contact me at 757-495-9717 or at gshevock@msn.com

Welcome to all of you newbee's. We have lived in TV for 6 years and 5 months. Yes, we are one of those snow birds and now proud owners of TWO houses here. Newest one in Buttonwood.
Just a word to the wise - and please please take heed - Before doing any business with anyone contact the Seniors against Crime at the Sheriff dept on 466. I am telling you from experience. I don't care how long a company has been in busy in the area it is a must. There is no one or department that is going around and kicking these fly by nights out. They do not even mention these people in your "Welcome to the Villages" meeting that each of you will go to once you have signed your paperwork.
When researching for new lani's you are not stuck with D & T either. There have been some great jobs done by other smaller groups for a lower dollar amount. D & T is very tight with the builder and does charge the most.
Do your homework please.
Again welcome and get ready for a wonderful life.

We have lived in Aberdeen or Havre de Grace for the last 35 years.

We were one or two exits down from you, just moved here in July from Abingdon. If you have recently been up there then you maybe have seen the new huge grocery store called Wegman's being built. It's scheduled to open in September but the new assistant manager bought our home back in May.

I was up your way many times playing golf at The Wetlands or at Furnace Bay over in Perryville. We now live in Tamarind Grove in Southern Star Villas, if you see a black Yamaha golf cart with Baltimore Ravens decals then that's probably me.

jimmemac, I see from your signature that you taught science. I remember playing golf about year or so ago at Wetlands with a science teacher who I think taught in Northeast, MD. I remember him because he said he owned two Honda Prius cars, that wouldn't be you is it?
