Help with latest WORD update

My husband has used Microsoft WORD for years but after the most recent upgrade every document now formats differently. He would like help returning his documents to the prior format. If you can help, he would appreciate hearing from you and would be willing to meet you and bring his computer, a MacBook Air so you can help him.

Have you tried opening the document in Word, and using the "save as" option? My program has a drop down menu that allows you to save documents as ".docx" or the older format, which is ".doc".
