I read with great interest the thread on here asking posters to say something good about our current President.

I am sure that he has done something good.

But, in a short time he has tried to continue the con began during the campaign on the american public and he is not the only one to blame. The congress is acting as an enabler to this man and his beliefs which were never ever vetted during the campaign. If you did ANY...I MEAN ANY...reading on his background and training what he is doing would not surprise.

One of the things that I read folks bragging about was the health bill. This bill which was UNWANTED by the american public, conceived in backrooms, sold by blackmail and payoffs (and I challenge anyone to question that) will be a anchor to this country for many years. Not only that, it did NOTHING WHATSOVER to do anything to health costs. AND it was done with the backdrop of a poor economy that didnt need this TYPE of bill nor the associated spending.

I really believe that those who trust this man, and that number is shrinking quickly....I think I read on one poll he is at about 40% and with independents he is now at 38%...anway those who support him are still listening and not watching at what is happening.

An example spelled out in todays news....and again...those who disagree with what I present as facts, PLEASE show me where they are wrong.....

There are a number of strong opinions in this article that you may want to read on his economic plans and results but I wanted to post the factual part to headline what is happening in this country. The WH simply ignores what is REAL and keeps on doing what they want and need to do, all driven by politics...something this great speaker said would never happen...politics dictating policy !

To further point out the hypocrisy of this administration, I offer this from the Boston area speaking to the administration attacking the state of Arizona on immigration.

It seems that Rhode Island has been enforcing FEDERAL LAW quite nicely with no government intervention.

"Anyway, if enforcing immigration law is a bad thing for local cops to do, as Holder claims, why pick on Arizona? If he’s really upset that the same laws he has taken an oath to enforce might actually get (gulp!) enforced, why isn’t he suing Providence instead of Phoenix? They’ve been doing local immigration enforcement for years now.

As The Boston Globe-Democrat reported yesterday, “From Woonsocket to Westerly, the troopers patrolling the nation’s smallest state are reporting all illegal immigrants they encounter, even on routine stops such as speeding, to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.”

Even liberal Providence, where politicians long opposed any local enforcement efforts, changed its policy in 2008 after the infamous Marco Riz case."

The article, rightly so, points out the SHEER POLITICS of what the administration is doing.

This President lied so many times on important issues (I fully realize that all candidates over state and cannot do everything they say) that is becoming an embarassment. From the infamous CSPAN for health debates to the not every signing into law a bill with ANY PORK (Heck, he violated that pledge before he got the seat warm in the oval office with the "stimulus bill" which was about 65% pork and he NEVER EVER READ).

Now the response to all of this is NEVER to dispute the facts and the lies, but to bring up the last administration (NOW GONE FOR 19 MONTHS). Perhaps we should open up a forum for HISTORY and completely ignore CURRENT EVENTS.

Sorry for the vent...let the Bush bashing begin !!!

Not only in Rhode Island, but just outside the White House others have taken to enforcing the immigration laws.

I lived in the suburbs of Washington, DC, in Prince William County, Va., when the county enacted tough new laws on illegal immigrants about three years ago. The laws on Prince William County's book regard not only arrests of illegals, but social services and public education.

It is one of the fastest growing counties in the US with the seventh largest immigrant population in the nation.

The year before the Prince William County, Va., Board of Supervisors passed the new law, the US Congress failed to overhaul the existing immigration laws with a comprehensive bill which pretty much tossed ball to the states and counties most affected by the presence of an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants.

Opponents and proponents cried the same rallying chants we are hearing now. Only the sky didn't fall. It is all very interesting.

"The boom in the Washington region's population in the past few decades, transformed little known suburban communities such as Prince William and Loudoun counties from rural islands to vast suburbs, lined with shopping centers, million dollar homes and gridlocked with traffic," according to an article in Medill Reports Washington.

"Growth and affluence made the entire Washington region a magnet for immigrants – legal and illegal—making the region with the seventh largest immigrant population in the nation.

"Prince William County experienced explosive economic and population growth for the better part of this decade, attracting thousands of construction workers and day laborers to help expand the community. The county had the fourth largest Hispanic growth rate in the country from 2000 to 2006 and grew by almost 150 percent, according the U.S. Census Bureau.

"The phenomena turned Hispanics into the major ethnic group in the county. The Hispanic population grew by 183 percent from 1990 to 2000 and by 2007 was roughly 19 percent of the county population. The white population grew by 7.7 percent.

"Overcrowding was an unavoidable consequence of the exponential growth the county experienced. The county welcomed more than 75,000 new residents since 2000. And in the span of fifty years, the population increased seven-fold, from 50,000 to more than 380,000. The demographic stress started to push resources and services and local politicians to the brink."

And some more on this health bill total disaster that this President allowed to pass over all the objections of the american people using blackmail and backroom politics that does not even address costs which HE SAID was the purpose.

There are those who favor reducing costs by ACTUALLY REFORMING the industry and then we have....well, this today.....

The federal government is now the nationwide regulator of all private health insurance. Federal bureaucrats can pick and choose which insurers are allowed to sell to customers in government-managed “markets.” The federal government will determine what health benefits every citizen and legal resident must secure to avoid paying a punitive tax. The federal government will also decide the appropriate level of cost-sharing for government-certified insurance products."

This bill will INCREASE costs, not decrease them...mark it down. This bill will be an albatross around the neck of the country as long as it is on the books.

And in closing...

" Although President Obama is quite clearly a committed and enthusiastic health-care governmentalist, he has never admitted as much in public, nor is he ever likely to. He avoids engaging in direct debate over the merits of his position with the market-based reformers. Instead, he argues, as he did at the so-called “bipartisan summit” back in February, that there is no great disagreement over substance; it’s just that those dastardly Republicans are against progress on his watch.

In a way, it’s hard to blame him for ducking the fight. The entire governmentalist reform program is based on the assumption that the federal government has the capacity to nimbly manage the health sector and to cut out unnecessary spending without harming the quality of care.

This bill will cause folks who could not afford insurance before but do not meet that criteria set by a few and directed at a selective audience whose bills we already pay...it will cause them an extra expense to either pay for it or pay the government for not having it.

Another oppourtunity wasted by this administration who is ONLY interested in political power....nothing more !!

Instead of deporting illegals back to their own countries, why not 'deport' them to D.C.? If they are "not a problem" for AZ, then they shouldn't be a problem for D.C., should they?

This is one example the illegals are exploiting. California is just as liberal with the care provided.

It all probably started with trying to do the right thing...provide necessary emergency care. All others, including pregnancies.....send them back over the same fence they came through.

Funny there is never any of this type info in the main stream media.
At a time when states are going bankrupt, they need to look in their own back yard and pull the plug on the give aways to ILLEGAL ALIENS.

And we the people literally stand by and do nothing about it....some day when we the people become the new minority...just watch and see what you won't be getting.
The silent majority deserves every bit of what we get.

What gets me is the way they try to somewhat justify this by saying, "...Contrary to popular belief here, their care is not paid for through local taxes. Under a 2002 amendment to federal regulations, the births are covered by federal taxes through Medicaid because their children automatically become American citizens."

Sometimes people forget that we the people pay money for those programs whether it is on the local, state or federal level. The federal government doesn't produce anything to earn that money.

And why don't Medicaid patients have to provide proof of citizenship?

My understanding of the "anchor babies" controversy not only includes
the 14th amendment and birthright citizenship, but the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965. This is where the "family reunifications" language comes in and puts the families' of "birthright citizenship" babies on a fast track to green cards and citizenship in the quotas system that allows a certain number and type of immigrant into the US.

The language of the 14th amendment, "All persons born or naturalized in the United States (NEXT IS THE PART PEOPLE LEAVE OUT IN DISCUSSIONS) and subject to the jurisdiction thereof....." has been a matter of interpretation of the intent by the founders for years.

All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.

BTW, did you hear about the MSNBC poll asking this: In July, Arizona will begin enforcing a new law that requires law enforcement officers to check someone’s immigration status if they have reason to suspect that he or she is in the country illegally. Do you think this is a good idea? Yes or No

So far, the results are Out of a total of 2,234,619 votes –

95.8% YES (2,140,709 votes)

4.2% NO (93,910 votes)

I imagine MSNBC won't be making a big deal out of the results.
