Marsh Bend has NO adult pool? I just read that on another thread which has been CLOSED. (Why do they do that??????)

Anyway, when we purchased our first home here in 2007, we were told every village has a neighborhood ADULT pool. As far as I'm aware, that is true for all the villages north of 44. Has that changed south of 44?

Oh, thank you for the information. I guess we lucked out in both the neighborhoods we have lived in. Both neighborhoods had adult pools.

Really? Could you name a couple of neighborhoods which do not have any pool? I didn't think that existed here in The Villages. We were told all neighborhoods have at least one pool.

Gee. I did not know that. The Villages informed us that all the amenities are built before the first home is closed on and the first resident moves in to a new village. I thought a pool is one of the amenities which is available to everyone in their neighborhood. I'm really surprised to hear this is not the case.

We live in the Village of Rio Ponderosa, no adult, family, or sport pool. There are all three types of pools in nearby Villages, but none in ours. Close by are pools in Rio Grand, Chula Vista, La Hacienda, Tierra Del Sol, and Mission Hills, just to name a few.

The neighborhood pool was very important in my choice of location. Either that or have a house with a pool, but I preferred not to do the upkeep. Before selecting our village, hubby and I went several times to our “future” pool to see what kind of people go there. There were people from other villages there too but most came from close by. We felt welcomed and happy and knew we would stay.

We live in Polo Ridge. Although we don't have our "own pool" .. the next Village over, Summerhill, has an adult pool. It's a short golf cart ride for us. Was not a big deal to us when we bought down here. :)

Thank you Gracie for the map. I don't know why I have always thought all villages had a pool. That might have been information given to us when we had our lifestyle visit, several years ago. By reading this thread, I realize that information we were given was incorrect.

I guess not having a pool in their neighborhood is not important to some.

If you take out the multitude of TV maps you can see which village does or doesn’t have a pool. We didn’t know the homes near Glenview didn’t have pools until we started looking for our 4th home

Just get "Villages GPS App" for your phone... Click the Pools tab and then you can click the map view to see exactly where each pool is on a map.

Love that app! Would be lost without it.

There are a number of Villages where you have to travel outside your Village for an adult pool or to even to get your mail. One must due diligence when purchasing a home in The Villages depending what your “wants and needs” happen to fit into your lifestyle. Besides pools and mailboxes it might be how far the house is from an executive golf course, championship/Country Club or a grocery store. To some it might be the church of your choice. Well, you get the idea. :ho:

I count 12 Community pools north of 466. Wider golf carts and more pools seem to happen as The Villages grew and as the developers found what worked better.

what you were told and what is true are not always the same. I was told the Developer paid for the Tornado back in 2006 (?), and that he (Morris), was always watching over us. This was according to the Trolley Narratior...named Walt. Well, I guess he is not paying too much attention to the SINKHOLES. The Alhambra village's Lake has been DRY for over 2 years, and the residents have paid over 200,000.00 dollars and still no fix.
To answer your quesion, Alhambra has NO pools.

I think you’ll find that the larger pools at the regional Rec centers are called “sports pools”. They are designed and scheduled for lap swimming, walking, water aerobics, etc. The sports pools as well as those at the country clubs are adults and residents only pools. The smaller pools at neighborhood Rec centers are almost always “family pools” where children and guests with a Villages ID are welcome.

I don’t know how the pools in the newer southern villages are designated. I’d be surprised if there weren’t some where visiting families and grandchildren were welcome. Remember to get temporary ID cards for your visiting family members and/or guests. They are easily obtained at any regional Rec center.

Sure, lots of pools in TV, just not SWIMMING pools. Good luck finding roped lap lanes at the sport pools, volleyball and classes all day, unless you are willing to swim at zero-dark-thirty.

You are singing my tune, there are lots of sports pools in the Villages that could be great lap swimming pools. Unfortunately, times for actual lap swimming are typically only very early in the morning or very late in the evening. The rest of the day the pools are reserved for all kinds of other stuff. Lap swimmers would like some time carved out from mid morning to mid afternoon but don't get it except for Sunday when all the other activities seem to take their one day a week off. And the late evening hours available for lap swimming are worthless in the winter when it gets dark right after the lap swimming time starts. To make matters worse, the sports pool policy is that they are open until dusk, which is by definition 1/2 hour after sunset. However, the pool staff is typically trying to make everyone get out of the pool at sunset, taking away a half hour of already very limited lap swimming time. Apparently lap swimmers are a very low priority for the staff that manages the sports pools.

Bridgeport at Lake Sumter doesn't have a pool.

Looked at a lovely home there with a private pool and it’s true no adult pool in Bridgeport @ Sumter Landing and mailboxes are located down Buena Vista and across from Arnold Palmer’s. We purchased elsewhere as we decided against a private pool (been there done that).
