“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.

There's been discussions in other threads about control of TV by outside sources versus residents having an elected board to represent them. I read this and thought it was interesting. Just shows you that nothing is perfect.
This is from today's Charlotte Sun (Florida) newspaper.

"With red, white and blue decorations, festive top hats and lots of American flags, La Casa residents celebrated an Independence Day parade with everything but their freedom of speech.

"Residents of the manufactured home park near Warm Mineral Springs drove their decorated golf carts and sang "God Bless America." Just days earlier, they had been advised not to sing the national anthem in La Casa.

"Residents were alerted to the newly-established policy in their July-August La Casa newsletter, which reached its residents before any July 4 festivities.

"Residents were informed through the La Casa Activity Association president Clint Van Tassell's monthly report. He wrote, 'We will inform all our musical groups that if they are performing any patriotic-type routine, at the end of the dance, they are not to perform 'The Star-Spangled Banner' or 'O Canada,' but are requested to use 'God Bless America.' The bottom link tells about the community where this happened. "The Ultimate Lifestyle on Florida's Gulf Coast is located between Sarasota and Fort Myers with boat access to the Gulf of Mexico.

"The community is a Resident Owner Community (ROC) operated by a co-operative that was formed by our residents to purchase the community and oversee its operation. A professional staff manages the community and since they are not obligated to produce profits for absentee investors, their focus is on providing us, the residents, with a first class lifestyle."
