Maybe the administrator won't pull this posting. Had dinner the other night at Seafood Galley and it was not a pleasant experience. The manager doesn't seem to know his business. Won't be back......

Where is that?

The new location is in the Spanish Plaines shopping center on 441, in the former Siam Orchid building. They moved from La Plaza Grande. New ownership, new cook, and new "management". After commenting that the gumbo was too salty, and sending back over-cooked fish, I was told upon leaving by the manager not to bother coming back, as they apparently couldn't satisfy us. Don't bother? Don't worry! Have never been insulted by a restaurant manager before.

When we saw the menu prices, we told the hostess it was just too expensive for lunch. Glad we went elsewhere now that we heard your story.

The administrators are quite suspicious of first time posters who complain viciously about any business, as I explained privately to the original poster.

Here is what I told him in a Private Message after he started and I removed the previous thread, his first post on this forum.

Your first post at Talk of The Villages was very harsh. It appears
you are associated with a competitor because of your vitriolic wording. That
is why we removed it.

What is your association with the restaurant industry?

While we welcome honest reviews and evaluation of restaurants, we are
highly suspicious of first-time posters posting either strongly positive or
strongly negative comments.

In the first post, the one we pulled, there was no mention of the manager asking the poster not to return. That was telling. I have never, ever heard of a manager asking somebody to stay away, that is somebody who had complained reasonably and fairly. Managers usually do not want to deal in the future with people who are troublesome in the extreme.

I have no connection to the restaurant, and we are not approaching the restaurant for advertising, but I will come down in my fairly limited view of this on the side of the restaurant.

The original poster feels he can take it upon himself to manage our forum, too. He knows we are suspicious of first-time, viciously complaining posters yet he posted his review again, after we asked him to refrain. I can imagine how the manager of the restaurant felt.

My suggestion is that you make your own decision about this restaurant, and after due consideration let us all know what you think of the place. I think that is only fair.

I was a moderator of a discussion board for a school system, I think your post is appropriate

I also owned a business and as a former business owner I agree with you, if you can't be positive don't say anything or just contact your own circle of friends

and kids did not say the darndest things, at least not at the high school level

Honestly, we accept both positive and negative, but we want posters to be fair in their appraisal.

Been there 3x . Its a bit low key but fine. Salads needed a bit more freshness. Oddly enough the dessert tray is great. They say its brought up from Orlando.
Great and I mean great Black Forest Cake.

Now you you know my weakness . Dessert .

We were there last week. Thought it was rather pricey. I ordered the fried oysters and didn't care for them.

Ate there once... thought the prices were way to high for the beer and food and their fish was nothing to brag about. IMHO, too much $$ for what you get. Won't be back! There are better places that are much less expensive.

That was three months ago I said that. I forgot I said it and what it means.

We were also disappointed. We had heard that it very good. But, the server was rude, and they were out of 3 items we asked for, and the food was mediocre. Also, we had heard about their homemade biscuits and asked why we didn't get any, and she said "they were out...maybe next time". Don't think there will a next time.

We went there for lunch a couple of months ago and had a similar experience. One piece of fish was pretty good but the sides and the other entree were mediocre. Relatively expensive for lunch. Everything on the menu wasn't available. Service was poor. We won't be back.

For consideration - there is another seafood restaurant about a half mile north on 441.

Do you mean St Johns Seafood. We love the fish at St John's.

Never been there but, yes, that's what I was referring to.

(Had an allergic reaction to a seafood platter I got at Tierra Del Sol a few years ago and have not had much Fla fish since - and I like fish)
