Has anyone used the Urgent Care facilities around The Villages? Which one do you recommend? My other half is having pain in her right foot and we don't have a doctor here as of yet. We live in Buttonwood. The Urgent Care on 466 is the closes one to us. Please let us know ASAP.

Thanks

Hubby has used the one in Lake Sumter Landing...Lake Regional Urgent Care at 910 Old Camp Road. Telephone number is (352) 259-4322‎. He seemed satisfied with the care he received. Hope all goes well for your wife.

We have used the Lake Regional Urgent Care at Lake Sumter Landing on three different occasions. We were very satisfied with their facility.

Hope your other half feels better soon.

I think the one you're talking about is Paramount. I've used them once, on a quiet Saturday morning. Quick service, caring attitudes, efficient.

That said, I should hope that any Urgent Care you use would provide the same!

I notice that some UC places have fewer hours than others. It may be useful to study the various places and their hours.

Hope your immediate problems have been solved! No way can we have folks being uncomfortable here in The Villages!

We've had great experiences at Lake Regional Urgent Care in Sumpter Landing. Excellent care.... Do not go to the Urgent Care off of Wedgwood Lane/Rt. 466. I had a horrible experience there.

I don't know the name of it, but I used the one over by Sweetbay, and had a great experience.

I used 441 Urgent Care in the complex across from Wal-mart on 441. I would go back again. Professional service and quick.

I have used the one on Old Camp Rd. in Sumter a few times. They're great. Went to Paramount on 466. I couldn't wait any longer cause they were crowded & we had to go somewhere. Later that day they called me & said no wait. That was very thoughtful cause I never asked them to call me. I'd go back to either one.

I'm afraid that my experience with Lake Regional Urgent Care was not that positive. They didn't manage to fax results of pre-surgical blood tests and exam to the hospital in time for surgery for a broken bone, even though testing was done on a Thursday and surgery wasn't scheduled until the following Monday.

I've worked in both hospitals and currently an urgent care center. I am surprised that this could happen. Generally this is automated. Unless your surgery was scheduled for very early Monday I would think that they could just get the lab results on Monday. Maybe the urgent care center wasn't open yet?

I may even apply for a job at Lake since I do like working in the urgent care arena.

Yes, Russ, the surgery was scheduled for early Monday and the Urgent Care Center wasn't wasn't open then. I thought the results of the blood work would have been faxed to the hospital (Leesburg) over the weekend. Must have been some miscommunication along the way. Mostly I felt bad that the surgeon's schedule got messed up.

Russ, your Massachusetts field of experience might not neccessarily apply to The Villages and surroundings. What you find is hard to fathom in a highly touted health care system as you work in now may be a little more commonplace here. It will be interesting to hear your first hand experiences when you start working here.

i used Paramount on 466 2 weeks ago. Had a cycling Accident. Broken Clavicle and Scapula. Went to Paramount, the did X-Ray on the spot soon as I walked in. They sent me to The Villages for CT Scan which was great thing they did. I would use them again!!!!

I have gone to two different ones and much prefer the one in Lake Sumter Landing - the one in Southern Trace on 466 was horrible - have not been to others

We've used Paramount a number of times....all times were good for what we needed. During the flu season, I'd suspect that most of these would be busy. I've heard both good and bad things about the one on Old Camp Rd. My spouse goes to their clinic for his medical needs. They have been lax in getting faxes sent to the pharmacy for medications. The most recent time they blamed it on "communication" issues w/in the office. (??????) I don't buy it as the pharmacy faxed them back asking for the RX when it hadn't arrived. Still didn't get it sent to the pharmacy. Had to personally go in and talk to them. NOT too professional!!

I went to Exceptional Urgent Care (exceptionalurgentcare.com) on County Road 101 last week and had a horrible experience. The facilities were tidy and clean and there was only a short wait, but I think that was only because people are familiar with the place and avoid it. The doctor I saw, John Im, is an osteopath, not an MD. That may or may not make a difference to people, but I do think they should tell patients up front.

The entire staff, from reception to nursing to Dr. Im, were rushed and rude. I don't think one person ever looked me in the eye or acknowledged me as a person -- just another body to push through the chute. They didn't bother giving me a hospital gown, even when taking an x-ray of my lungs.

When I was there, Dr. Im took 15 seconds to look in one ear and down my throat, then listened to my lungs for two breaths before saying, "Your physical exam looks good." Wow, impressive diagnostics, there.

After telling me that my blood work and x-rays were normal, Dr. Im gave me a prescription for some cough syrup. Later when I went to pharmacy I found out he had also called in -- without telling me -- prescriptions for an antibiotic and powerful steriod medication. I have no idea what they're for or why I'm supposed to take them since everything was "normal." Bah.

Also to be noted is that the entire office is aggressively Christian. There are Bible verses on the walls in the waiting room, no readiing material except Bible tracts, and a constant loop of Christian music and Bible verses on alL TV monitors, even in the exam rooms. People's mileage may vary, but it could be an oppressive experience for some.

Wow queasy27 that sounds like an awful experience. I wonder if you are aware an osteopath actually has more training than an MD. Their practice includes treating body, mind and spirit not just the body.

Went to Paramount last week and I agree with this poster. Had the cough and severe sore throat that seems to be going around. In and out in an hour with antibiotic in hand. I only paid $10 for the pills, but who knows what they will charge my insurance co. At least, I didn't have to go to a pharmacy somewhere to get the meds!
