Lost black cat on Beechwood Avenue in the Silver Lake area. All black with just a few little white hairs. Had a black & white color on. He's an indoor cat, but scooted out when taking out the garbage last night. He's kind of a large cat - about 18 lbs. If you see him, please call 753-0053. Thanks.

Dale, I had the same experience and I searched for two days and did not find her. One evening just before sunset when it was very quiet I walked around the area of our home several times calling her name and suddenly I heard a soft meow in a bush close to home. I found her huddled under a fallen branch petrified and evidentially she was unwilling to leave her protected spot. Early morning or late evening is a good time, they usually stay close to home. Good Luck and let us know when you find him.

i have a neighbor whose cat darts out occasionally. She's had good luck with propping the lanai screen door open just a little and leaving a saucer of "treats" inside the door. I really think these indoor cats don't go far when they get out. They're scared being out there.

Thank you for your words of encouragement. I am just sick about this. He's been gone for over 48 hours. We own a house here in the Villages and come every year for 3 months. We are heading back to California this Thursday morning which is very upsetting since I don't want to leave before I find him. This is my very favorite all time pet.

Thanks for your encouragement. I'm leaving this Thursday morning to go back to CA and need to find him before we leave. I'm sick to my stomach about this. Can't sleep and drive around in the golf cart calling for him for hours on end.

Dale, you can contact http://petfinder.districtgov.org/petfinder/petsearch.aspx
and post a picture of your cat. Also, post some flyers in the area so that people know how to contact you and also put an ad in the newpaper under Lost and Found. Good Luck

Go to the grocery and buy plain tuna packed in OIL, not water. Place on a plate just inside your lanai with the door cracked.

This is what folks use who trap cats and it works.

We are on the other end of Tarrson and will be there about the 1st of Aug. If he is still missing then we will try to watch for him. Will he come if you call his name? We used to have one like that except even whiskers were black. Not a spot of white on him and was about 18 lbs. Keep us informed.

Thanks Duffy....the only problem is that the ad won't run until Thursday and we leave Thursday morning for CA and don't come back until next May. He has been gone for 72 hours now and I need to find him before thursday. If he comes home after that, no one will be here. Thanks for the information about petfinders....I sent them a message as per your advise. Hope it works. Thanks for all your help!!!

Thanks for the hint....I have put out his food for 3 nights, but he hasn't been back. I think he is unfamiliar with the area and has lost his way back. He has always been very content at being an indoor cat and I'm sure he would make his way back here if he knew the way. He loves his dinner every morning and every evening and lets me know if I'm not prompt enough. He has me well trained! thanks, Dale

When we moved from the East Bay to Lakeport last summer our then 1 YO Tuxedo 15 Lb male, Jack, got out and was missing for four days before he turned up at the side door, walked into the opened door and stays away from all exterior doors since.

Scary out there by your lonesome.

Good luck getting Casey back.

First of all Dale,

Almost always kitties will return. Is he older? Has he been sick? Is he neutered?

I have had cats all of my life and only one did not return and he was very OLD. For years now we have not let them out of the house but did when we lived in a very safe area long ago.

We aren't staying long either or I would do anything to help you find Casey.

I am wishing and hoping very hard for his safe return.

Any possibility you could post a picture of Casey? Always helpful. Having lost my 'Shadow' to medical problems a few years ago, I understand how you feel.
Have you talked to any of your year-'round neighbors to have them watch for him around your house after you leave? How about your lawn people? Home watch people? If he hasn't shown up before you leave, PM me and I can give you my contact info and address. I would be more than willing to provide him with bed and breakfast until something can be arranged or you return. When he does return, might be a good idea to get an ID chip in him. Can be located no matter where he turns up.

The trick is getting rescue agencies to check a cat for a chip. When I rescued "Disco" it was like pulling teeth to make those employees get out the scanner and check for a chip. I guess since many people don't microchip cats, many are not even checked.

Any luck? I have some friends on Beechwood and adjoining streets and will ask them to be on the lookout for Casey if he hasn't come home before you leave.

I have two escape kitties. One stayed out for 4 days and I was heartsick thinking I'd never see her again -- she's a little thing and I was afraid a coyote had found her. I left the garage door open a crack and she came back in the middle of the night as if nothing had happened except she was a mess! At least Casey is a big boy, so the local animals should leave him alone.

Please keep us posted. We're all wishing the best.

Casey is about 8 years old....not sick...very healthy neutered male. Likes to eat alot. Very affectionate. We just came home from Toojays and when we pulled into the driveway, we noticed a black cat in our screened porch eating the food I had left out. I had left the screened porch door opened, hoping he would return and eat the food. When we saw the cat, we tried to quickly close the door, but the cat ran out. Actually, we don't think it was Casey, but a neighborhood cat. Close, but not close enough!

Hi macro....thanks for the hints. Casey does have a chip, but someone has to scan it and then call me. He also had a collar with our address here in the Villages. Since this is our vacation home and we are only here 3 or 4 months, I don't have a photo of him here. I have one at our home in California and when I return on Thursday, I can post it. He is an 18 pounds healthy neutered black cat with a few white stray hairs. Has yellow eyes. Very loving and affectionate. Thanks for your offer of help, I really appreciate it. Everyone has been so helpful. I've have a lost cat sign in front of my house, and a half dozen people have knocked on my door and given me information of where they have seen a cat....but it turns out not my cat. Not too many year round residents in this neighborhood, but I have talked to the few that are here.

Hi Redwitch,
No luck yet. A cat entered my screened in porch this evening and ate some food I had left out, but it was a neighborhood cat. Close, but not close enough. I'm still hoping. Thanks for your concern....Dale

About 15 years ago someone lost an orange cat in our neighborhood in California. Turns out they were cat sitting it for their rich elderly maiden aunt who had no other relatives or pets. They put up posters with a $100 reward for the cat; a few days went by and the reward was up to $500; a few more days up to $1,000 and then $5,000. The whole neighborhood was searching and all the local orange cats were being chased like crazy.

They finally found the cat - in a garage two doors down; don't know about the reward tho.

Hi,
We think we saw a black cat tonite when we came home. He took off when we pulled up with our golf car. We are at 916 Silver oak...he was heading towards Weeping Willow Street. If we see him again I will certainly let you know. I did put some cat food out on my drive way for him, just encase he is hungry.
We are big cat lovers...sure hope Casey finds his way home soon

Casey came home at 1am....meowed a lot, kissed and hugged me for about an hour, then fell asleep. Except for opening one eye to see what's going on, he has been sleeping it off all morning, afternoon and evening. He hasn't even asked to be fed this evening...this coming from an glutton that demands to be fed at 8am and 4 pm. It's like he has one big giant hang over. I only wish he had a camera on his collar to document what he did for the last 7 days. Thanks everyone...I'm truly a lucky servant to Casey to have gotten him back....he can eat as often as he wants, sleep as much as he wants, and do whatever he wants (except sneak outside again).

Just don't let Casey know you feel that way -- he'll totally rule you and you'll be letting him out on demand before you know it. Cats really will take the mile if you give the inch, ya know!

cough, cough, Anyone know where I can get a 50 gallon barrel of tomato juice??????? :yuck:

P.S. as per my previous post, I am overjoyed at the happy ending to this story. Glad Casey made it home.:BigApplause:

Rub his tummy for me and than say...WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN???

I was afraid he had gone into someone's garage and then they had gone North.
