I have Century Link for 8 years. Nomoromo doesn't work with Century Link. I had them add a 'call block' feature but it only holds 12 numbers. I had to keep a list of the numbers and I was constantly removing numbers to add the latest. I bought a Panasonic phone from Walmart three years ago that can block up to 250 numbers. I've had to clear it out twice so far and now I'm on my third set of 250, but it does take about a year before it's full. The phone also has an answering machine and two extensions, it was about $75 for the 3 phones.

Suggestion for people with the ability to block a limited number of calls: do that - and at the end of each year, delete any numbers that haven't tried to call you in the last 6 months. And then, every month, delete the oldest month's worth from that point.

For Century Link subscribers - you're limited. But here's this from the FCC:

The national Do Not Call list protects landline and wireless phone numbers. You can register your numbers on the national Do Not Call list at no cost by calling 1-888-382-1222 (voice) or 1-866-290-4236 (TTY). You must call from the phone number you wish to register.

It doesn't block ALL robocalls but it reduces them significantly.

I've been on the do not call list for 10 years, and still block 250 numbers a year. That list is useless. Get a phone like I have and block up to 250 numbers, or lose your home phone and go with a cell phone only, which is what most people have done. Funny thing, my cell phone might get 1 solicitor call a week. My home phone gets 3 to 6 everyday. That's what being in the phone book will get you.

But that's only if you have xfinity landline (which is actually VoIP and not a true landline). We were getting around 6-8 calls a day til we signed up for that. It dwindled down to around 5-6 per week, by the time we moved out of state.

Now we don't have landline at all, and I get around 10 telemarketer/robo/scam/spam calls a week on my cell.

I use HiYa Premium on my iPhone and I also select "Do not announce Unknown Callers". This works well.

If you have an iPhone you can go into contacts select phone there you mute calls not in your contacts or recently called. The calls still happen but the phone doesn’t ring. It has worked great for me

We have a Sentry Call Blocker Model CT-CID868 for our land line. It works beautifully. Initially, you enter all the good numbers (family, friends and neighbors) you want to ring through to you. This is not a hard thing to do. I recall it took about 15 minutes, using the phone list on my cell phone. This creates the "white list".

For numbers not in the white list, there is a recording which tells the caller, "if you are telemarketer, hang up and take us off your list. If not, hit zero and leave a message." For calls not on the white list, we hear the phone ring once. Since we installed the call blocker, the number of single rings has gone down dramatically. In addition, if you are so inclined, you can add numbers to the "black list" (sounds a bit racists, but that is Sentry's nomenclature). For those numbers, you won't even hear the single phone ring.

The unit costs about $80.

I don't have a Xfinity landline (Comcrap) I have Century Link and nomoromo is not available for that service. Do not call list I've signed up here and in Maryland, two states and it provides no protection. The call block feature that Century Link offers will only store 12 numbers, been there, done that. Buying a phone with a built-in feature such as the Panasonic I have and can handle 250 numbers is the only answer short of getting rid of your homephone.

We got rid of our land line several years ago replacing it with Ooma, VOIP . We get no spam or robo/telemarketing calls on this line.

On my iPhone X it is a different story. I get calls from all over the world....literally. Many are sourced with the same area code as my number.
I do not answer any calls from unrecognized numbers. If the caller is legitimate with reason to call me, they will leave a message.

National do not call list is ineffective.
I will endure the minimal annoyance until an IOS provided solution is developed...if ever.

I get at least 5 robo calls a day on my cell and nothing has worked to stop them. It is so bad that I no longer answer my phone unless it is someone I know or they leave a message. Sad we pay so much and these companies allow ( many get paid ) their clients to be harassed.
Anyone has the answer to stop these please share, the more I block the more I get.

I've tried several things, my TV lets me know the incoming calls from my land line, if I don't know the person or number I don't pick-up. I have a old style Track flip phone turned on only when I need to make a call, and I still get unwanted calls.

We have a Panasonic cordless phone system that forces a caller to enter a numeric code before the call is connected. Stops robo, but a human can get through. $90 from Amazon. Since installing it, we have cut robo calls to virtually zero. Highly recommended.

You are lucky, BTK. We've had Ooma VOIP since 2015, and we get Robo and telemarketing calls, sometimes up to six a day. And we even subscribe to their premier service which has call blocking.

CWGUY, you are not the only one who wonders. If the government can't stop this simple problem how are they going to protect us from deep rooted internet things that are probably already in action taking our information from the internet and more. We are always at risk.

These calls can't be stopped? B.S. If the people with the power to make the decisions were answering their own phones instead of having their Secretary or their Children do so it would have been handled already.

The best luck I have experienced is the Free versions of Verizon Call Block and then the one that stops a whole lot of the ones you don't want. I would guess about 95% for me is an App called HIYA. It has changed our life for the better. I still have a N.J. Area Code and get close to 10 B.S. calls a day. My wife has a 352 area code and the amount of Robocalls is about 1 a week. I think I have tried all apps that are available and HIYA blows the others off the map. Bada :boom:

In my work with the younger generation I have learned that they do not activate their voice messaging. They only text, so you cannot leave a voice msg. If you text them they will then call you back. For a landline, just shut off the ringer so you won't even hear it and then don't set up the voicemail. Problem solved.

That doesn't solve anything. People have phones because they want or need to communicate with other people. If your doctor calls, you don't have voice mail, and you've shut your ringer off, you won't ever know that your doctor called.

If your kids call - you won't know they called. Turning off your ringer and not having voice mail defeats the purpose of having a phone.

Well, VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) means your call goes over the internet instead of having a dedicated wire to the “phone company.”

I disagree with the earlier poster who said that VOIP isn’t a land line. Having a land line just means you aren’t using radio waves like with a mobile phone. I don’t use VOIP or a traditional phone-company line—just a mobile phone. I guess that maybe using the phone company means you have to pay “protection” to keep them from giving your phone number to the world.

When you get a call that you don’t recognize or it says SPAM don’t answer or disconnect, let it finish ringing, then go to your RECENTS. Look for a little quotation mark, it might be hylighted in blue. Click on it, then in the drop down look for BLOCK THIS CALLER, click on it. They’re gone! But remember a lot of spammers will just use a different number. Just keep doing it, they’ll eventually will quit. You won’t get spam calls from this caller anymore. I know someone will say this doesn’t work but it’s worth a try!

I agree with everything you said except the one you said about listing your phone # in a phone book or a cell phone, phone book. I never ever had mine listed anywhere, but I do think they could get it when you fill out any kinds of forms. But don’t waste your time filling out the Gov. DO NOT CALL LIST, that’s worthless.

Get OOMA voice over IP. $79 on Amazon & then $75 for set up. After that it's $5.63 A YEAR for 911 & taxes. The clarity is amazing. You can also use your own answering system or choose to use OOMA. It's ridiculous what is charged. On your cell use "True Caller." Your landline should have "call blocking." I have a Uniden w/that option.

I now just don't answer the phone unless i know who it is, they only let it ring 4 times so that it doesn't go to the answering machine. We have gone from 7 to 10 per day down to 1 call every couple days and none on the weekend so I guess they only try it so many times. I have an old analog flip cell phone, so I do not have any automatic call blockers. What I did with fairly good success is to get a google voice account (free) and link it to my cell number. When I get a robocall, I go to google voice and block it, and it seems to work pretty darn good.

I have the best blocker made. Me, I don’t answer the phone unless I recognize the calling. I let it answering machine get 9 time out of 10 they don’t leave message which tell me it wasn’t important. And I’d they do leave message I screen them.

Good luck getting them blocked. They use numbers unavailable or don’t show up.

Spammers have block of hundreds of numbers. If one blocked the computer just sends out another number to call. So, unless you block hundreds of calls it won’t do much good. The company that issues blocks of numbers to scammers should be held accountable, fined, and eventually imprisonments for the CEO’s.

Plus on top of that If they get hit the sell you’re number to other scammers, it will never end.

Google one of the main sellers of you’re information, they may block calls but the dang sure don’t on the internet.
