I need a new dentist, the one I go to now, is one of those that try to up-sell procedures you don't need. I fell for it once and now I'm having a lot of problems with the tooth they "fixed"? Never had a problem before -- fool me once, right!
Anyway, I was thinking of trying Aspen Dental. Please give me your experiences and recommendations, good or bad, please.
Thank you.

When you go to Aspen, you will be introduced to the finance manager before the dentist. He has to know how much you can afford before he looks at your mouth. It's a national franchise.

I've not used Aspen Dental but there have been many negative threads on here re: them. I'd stay away because of those. As someone else said---they're a national franchise.

Years back, my Medicare Advantage sales person "suggested" that I use AD for my dental cleanings, which were included with the MA plan.
I made the appointment, arrived at the scheduled time and was promptly ushered to an examination room. The dental tech began a
Periodontal Exam - Periodontal Probing (http://www.dentaldiseases.org/conditions/gums/periodontal-exam-probing.htm)
Upon completion, I waited 1/2 hour to see a dentist who recommended that I have my gums treated for disease. And, the treatment would be described at checkout.
Checkout consisted of consultation by their finance person, presenting me with a multi-thousand dollar treatment plan.
When asked about the cleaning, her comment was that the cleaning would happily be scheduled after treatment for my gum disease.
I got up and left, without responding.

Similar experience at grand traverse .. wouldnt do the cleaning. wasted more than two hours. I'm still searching. Most of the recommended dentists here and on nextdoor arent taking new patients, which includes leesburg. May have to start searching in Ocala or Gainesville

I tried Aspen and found it seemed like a dental factory to sell procedures. I recently went to Dentristry on The Square and they seem like the will do what has to be done and not sell you every procedure in the book.

My dentist from before we moved to TV told me to avoid Aspen Dental at all costs! The dentist I use now is in Leesburg. His name is Dr. Jason Snyder. I like him almost as much as I liked my dentist in Chicago. Give him a try. Phone # is: 352-728-5957

To me asking someone how much they can afford sounds like they’re saying we don’t accept Ins. Also if it true what you’re saying, How much can you afford isn’t a very professional way of getting new clients. If some dentist office ever asked me that I would of walked out before they could say another thing. Besides I go to private practices where it’s their professional work that’s bringing clients in & putting money in their pockets!

I won't go to Aspen Dental, but we had an emergency recently where a tooth came out of hubby's denture. He has snap-on removeable implant dentures. He was able to save the tooth (it fell out while he was eating - almost swallowed it!), brought it into Aspen. They re-affixed it, the cost was around $60 I think.
So if you have NO teeth at all - and you just need something done with your denture, Aspen might be an affordable option. I would not recommend them for anything to do with your actual teeth though.

I used Aspen a couple of years ago. I had my second cleaning in November. They called a day before my appointment to reschedule for the next day due to OVERBOOKING on their part. When I told them I couldn't make that day they told me the next appointment open was in April!! I said (not yelling) You have got to be kidding. They hung up on me. Had a $30 credit for an overcharge which took 3 months to get back.

I was going to Aspen Dental and had an understanding with Dr. Kline that I was not going to spend thousands on cleanings. So for a year they were good and did the cleanings. I just went back for another cleaning and Dr. Kline has retired and they have a new dentist that can NOT speak very good english and wanted $1500 to do what they deam necessary. They also want to be paid in advance. I told her no thank you and walked out.
I recommend staying away from Aspen, they are a run up the charges place now and pay in advance.

Be careful with Aspen. They try to bill you for your next upcoming appt. Or for the complete job prior to completion, i.e., billed my credit card almost $500.00 for a cleaning 6 months from now. Yes you read almost $500.00 foa a cleaning.

I am disturbed by those negative remarks. I have been with Aspen Dental for the past 7 years or so - never encountered what other posters said. I am still satisfied as well as my both health and dental insurance carriers are accepted by Aspen Dental.

I have never been to Aspen in FL but I've liked the one back home in Ohio in the past. Their introductory prices were good, they do not insist I have x-rays every time, and they have never tried to sell me additional services. I have very good teeth, however. The last time I went I was not as happy because the cleaning was too "gentle" and the dentist was an old codger who never said one word about my teeth!

Not only are they sell up artists.... They knowing overcharged me by making me pay upfront claiming a problem with their computers and the way my insurance was entered into their system... I've been trying to get my lawful refund for 5 months and all i get is the runaround and that they are writing a new ticket.

Aspen Dental is expanding to Colony Plaza. The building under construction next to Bob Evans will contain both Aspen Dental and Dunkin Donuts. This is shown in the Construction Updates in the Daily Sun. I confirmed this by emailing David Corder, the writer who focuses on TV construction.

I totally agree!
I went to Marion Dental for a 2nd opinion after going to one of those "up-sell" dental businesses who recommended $7,300 worth of work. I made an appointment then was told that I did have an issue but it was under $2,000! They promptly referred me to a reputable dentist that could address my issues. I've remained a patient with Dr. Edwards, one of the dentists that owns that practice. Great staff all around.

I had a tooth break and went to a Dentist in the Villages and was told the only solution was a $10,000-20,000 procedure to pull root and install 2 Implants. I said I did not want inplants and they refused to consider any other solution. This dentist also ignored some pain I had from a "temp solution" and said it could not be fixed without their declaration that I must have implant's. Said the heck with them and went to "Palm Ridge Dental" in the small plaza near Wedgwood and saw Dr Shorr. He is retired and works only Monday and Friday. He said he did not feel like implants were necessary and actually followed a procedure that was fantastic and did exactly what I hoped for. I will not go through the procedure but am about 6 months from the work and it is terrific and no implants but uses the tooth original root. He is terrific and my concern is to hope he doesn't get so many patients that I will have a difficult time making an appointment. :ho:

I was going to say the same thing. I don’t care for “up charging” pitches. A good dentist in a local practice is harder and harder to find and I’m still looking. Went to the same dentist for 30 years. Not cheap but good but like most of us he retired to the “good life”. At our age, most want to just “maintain”. As a friend said, “no need to put thousands on a soon to be dead body”. He has a weird sense of humor!
