At the end of last nights Bunco. Roz made the announcement that there would be no more Bunco until April 13 due to the Virus outbreak. Anyone hear if any other activities have been canceled.

There has not been a single case in The Villages. This is premature.

Who wants to # 1, @ the average age of the people in TV, IMHO, this is a smart move--if it hits TV, it will be horrific--risk vs reward

True, but there will be sooner rather than later once testing is available. Count on it. LOTS of people go and come on cruises around here as well as just travel. Thing is there might already be except likely no one has been tested (yet) who has gone to a Doc or ER with what they think are flu symptoms since the limited kits have been going to "hot zones." That SHOULD change very soon as well and when it does, and if/when the first case is announced, assuming they don't hold off, this place will go nuts and, whether warranted or not, the lines at the ER's will be worse than the standby line for Avatar at Disney.

By that reasoning everything should be shutdown here. All bunco, dancing on the squares, all the plays and shows, zoomba lessons, yoga, everything.
C'mon.

Yes, risk vs reward--if it hits here--it will be shades of medieval Europe===="Bring out your dead"--if a person has the virus & goes into an ER--the whole ER will be quarantined--one month NO big deal
Boston has cancelled its St Pat's day parade, major colleges have shut down--its not a case of "IF" its case of "WHEN" it comes to TV

The Stretch for Health class has cancelled classes for the next four weeks and then will re-evaluate the situation.

I think it’s better to start avoiding crowds before we all start getting sick. I take a lot of exercise classes at the Rec centers and MVP. But for awhile, I’ll be walking and doing YouTube videos. Let’s stop this before it starts!

Smart move, especially because those over 60 year olds are at greatest risk.

A friend of mine showed me a text yesterday from the HOA for the retirement community she lives in down in Coconut Creek, Florida. ALL activities have been canceled. No theater, no card games, no mah jongg, bunco, canasta, nothing, until further notice.

I have read through the various corona virus threads on this site and really cannot believe the number of people who think this is just another scam; I think even a DOCTOR made light of it. I am absolutely amazed that the Governor of a State that encourages elderly people to move here has not said one word about this virus ............... or did I miss it?
Kudos to the leaders of the groups who are taking the initiative on their own. Better safe than sorry.

Not worried, have been exposed to unbelievable things in a medical facility. Health care people always say if it hasn’t killed me by now, this won’t either

Rob I applaud the effort you have taken to protect those who attend bunch. Nothing wrong with “better safe than sorry”. You definitely have common sense. Thank you.

Kudos to the leaders of the groups who are taking the initiative on their own. Better safe than sorry. You missed it. He said 1 word the other day but now that he is forced to believe it and sees it isn't fake news or something to pretend doesn't exist, (like the rest of 'em did) he's saying a few more words. They all will continue to now that they HAVE to believe the science.

I’m new here. When bad things happen or are going to happen, I look to sources to help me make correct choices.
I’m pretty sure that a community of cruisers, RV owners, grand children visiting, snow birds etc. would have to be crazy to think we won’t be affected. If I were a betting man, it’s already here.
So, I want to know the plan. I would like the paper to give me more than three legged dog stories and vacation photos. I’d like to know what our healthcare system is doing to prepare.
Cancelling Bunco is just prudent. Dice, table changing, etc.
But what’s the plan?? Pools, rec centers, and I hate to say it, golf.
We live in a bubble, sure but let’s not be bubbleheads about this.

That attitude is very selfish. The virus may not kill you but you can transmit it to someone who is vulnerable. That vulnerable person may die and the person who transmitted it may never know they were responsible for the death of another person.
