A lot of these administrative meetings could be held, if The Villages would catch up with technology. Corporations all over the world hold meetings remotely via Skype, Zoom, and other computer-based video conferencing.
In fact, they have a Facebook page. Anyone who wanted to, could join a meeting and comment, live, during any of these meetings if they chose to hold them via video conferencing.
We have a top-notch Computer Club here at the Villages, It's a damned shame the people responsible for running our community's government don't make use of it.

And as of 5PM they were still sitting shoulder to shoulder outside at Red Sauce and City Fire in LSL. Not as many as yesterday but certainly NOT separated by 6' and certainly not 1/2 the tables were removed. The square itself (parking spaces) was about 50% empty. Very eerie.

I’m surprised that the pools are closed. People are not that close at the pools and germs should die in the water. The pool is much needed exercise with everything else canceled.

What about the infected person who didn't know they were infected yet was at the pool half an hour before you got there. Did you touch the same gate to enter that they used to leave? Lets say that you selected the same chair or lounge chair to sit on. Then you touched the same chair or used the drink dispensing machine, threw away some trash, used the water fountain or even the restroom. That's how it could spread so in order to slow this from spreading, you eliminate as much possible exposure then just perhaps less people will die like they have died in Italy. Just my humble selfish opinion. I like living.

City fire is ridiculous the way they pack people in the bar area, I Guess they’re exempt from using common sense. There is a lot of ignorant people in TV.
As well as business owners that only care about the almighty dollar. :ho:

Maybe someone should take a picture of the bar area @ City Fire & Red Sauce & fwd it to the proper authorities, it could be very useful if and when for future litigation

Every smoker and drinker that contracts the virus might well occupy a hospital bed that would otherwise be used by a person that behaved properly.

I ‘heard’ that there’s a loophole in the ‘law’ concerning outdoor bars being exempt from the ban...anyone know for sure?

Are you not going to a grocery store? A lot more contact there from a wider array of people. I would wipe down the chair and gate before using. The pool water will kill the virus. I agree, pools should be open, with a limit of people at a time. It’s probably more of a logistic issue to close than threat of the virus.

03-19-2020, 07:53 AM
City Fire, Red Sauce, The Chop House, Cody's all had large gatherings of people. About 15 line dancing in the square to piped in music I assume. The reason the pools were closed is because they were limited to 10 people but no one listened. Soon the bars/restaurants will be closed however until then all you self centered non believers do as you want (can't change that unless you have a babysitter monitoring your moves I guess) but stay away from ME!

You know it is possible they care about their employees ability to earn a living and pay their bills. I would like to see the statistics of the regular old flu posted side by side with covid-19 virus just to add some level of sanity to this whole thing.

Water wont kinn the virus but chlorine will - if TV keeps it at the proper level. Google it if you don't believe me. But its not the pool itself that's the problem -its all the other surfaces At the pool as mentioned above.

omg, i know. we drove thru brownwood last nite & with the western motif, the only thing missing from the ghost town were the tumbleweeds. almost all parking spots were open, & 1 sad looking woman eating alone in the square pavilion. yes, there were customers @ city fire, but very few & they were scattered in different areas of the outside restaurant. riccardi's had ONE person sitting @ the bar, it may have even been an employee on break.

Go to the restaurant of your choice and get takeout. Help keep them open. As for shopping, no, you don't have to go to Belk's or BB&B for new dishes that can wait til later. But food and medicine are necessities. Even in China and Italy, the grocery stores are open. Use their delivery services if need be.

I agree with you but, the same thing could be said for golf starter shacks or bathrooms or trash cans, or filling up water bottles when putting your hands on the ambassadors water barrel spout.
I just feel we should apply all of these thoughts and rules to all the public areas within the Villages.
We also need to be cautious and start taking responsibility for our own health.

Properly chlorinated pool water will kill viruses. However, it won't kill viruses coming from that guy who just bumped into you and laughed in your direction. It won't kill viruses from that person who just sneezed in close proximity to you. It won't kill viruses that may have been deposited on the gate, the drinking fountain, or on the faucet handles in the bathroom. So yeah, I'm for closing the pools.

wouldn’t you think that if there were any truth to that , the pools would remain open and everyone encouraged to take a swim instead of shutting them all down ?????

Another way to look at this, the more that can be done now to reduce the risk, the sooner things should start to return to normal.
Especially given we don't know what we don't know so there is a great deal of uncertainty. The experts will hopefully get a lot smarter over the next couple weeks once the test capacity is available on the high throughput diagnostic instruments.

My guess is people sweat too much and that there is direct contact skin-to-skin in softball. At least with golf, you can keep a 6 foot distance from your group through all holes, AND you don't share clubs as you would share a bat, ball, and so on.

Yah, a friend went to his local market last Friday. When he got to the produce area, suddenly a youngish man and woman began to cough out loud and sneeze on purpose all over the foodstuffs. He left quickly before his urge to deck them got overwhelming. They continued their store run, laughing over and over again.

Maybe common sense isn't quite as right-on as scientific sense. Not knowing anything at all about the virus is a very bad place to be. You can't guess if this type of thing is truly killed by chlorine. Nobody, but NOBODY, knows yet. Better safe than dead.
