Is "The Villages" a state?

Was anybody born in "The Villages?"

Anyhow, I wonder which birth state is most represented among our TOTV members.

I was born in Steubenville, Ohio, but my family actually lived across the river in Weirton, West Virginia. I have the hospital bill that was given to my dad after my birth. $5

I was born and raised in Dansville, NY. I grew up in a house where the founder of the American Red Cross, Clara Barton, lived while her own home was being built in Dansville. American Red Cross Chapter #1 is still located in Dansville and was only about 4 blocks from my house.

Born in Nuremberg, Germany. First U.S. state was California. After more international stuff, lived up and down the eastern seaboard at various military bases. Then to the Far East, back to U.S. and the Midwest. Back to Europe, back to U.S. (Kentucky). And so on. The states lived in the longest were New Jersey (8 mos.), Kentucky (3 yrs.), California (too long to count). If pushed, I'd guess I would say I was a California gal with a touch of the East Coast and the South in my heart. Sorry, was never a fan of the Midwest.

Born in the City of St. Louis, Missouri. That's to differentiate between the City and the County, which are different entities.

The hospital still stands, but functions now only as a clinic, the bigger entity having moved west, into the County, some 30 or more years ago!

Parents took me to Massachusetts at age 9 months, where I stayed until returning to St. Louis when I married. Both my children were born in the same hospital, at that time the same building!

Goodness me, how long ago all that was!

I'm betting on Ohio with NY a close second.

At least, Ohio first reflects the demographics of my block as well as the various people at Doggie Doo Run Run (DDRR). DDRR does have that rare creature though-- a native Floridian.

Two many options for a poll on home states. As it would need to cover the 50 states and the District of Columbia as well as Canada, Britain, Ireland, France, Germany, Mexico, Japan, etc.

I am sorry you don't like the midwest, Redwitch. Tell me why.

Hated tornado shelters; hated the flat land. I really am a mountain gal through and through (no comment about Florida and it's flatness please -- I'm well aware of it and hate that aspect of this state) -- have been my entire life. As a kid, I didn't care if I lived in a urban or rural setting. Actually preferred the rural -- more freedom. It really is just a land/weather issue. (And, yes, I know all of the Midwest is not flat but the areas we spent any real amount of time were.)

The one thing I learned quickly as a child and have found it to still be true as an adult is that people are pretty good throughout the world. There are cultural differences whether in a different nation or a different region, but the goodness is there regardless. So, I've loved the people of Kansas, Iowa, Ohio, etc. as much as those of NY, NJ, California and Europeans, Asians, Middle Easterners, Africans.

I was just there - and by there I mean in the school! Changed a lot since I went to school there, a couple of hallways and classroom areas were the same, other than that I was lost. A good friend of mine (who later became a cousin-in-law) taught there for many years, is now retired.

Walt, that's incredible. I was born in Westchester Sq Hospital and my brother in Parkchester Hospital. What street did you live on?? I lived between Zerega Ave and Westchester Sq. Isn't it a small world... Maybe we went to school together...?

As a very young child I lived on Daly Avenue. Then got bounced all over... Rockaway, Brooklyn, Jamaica (NY), Yonkers and than back to the Bronx. This time Mapes Avenue (just off Tremont), then Carpenter Avenue (around 223rd St off Westchester Avenue).
We probably didn't go to the same school. My first 2 HS years were at Andrew Jackson HS, the last 2 at Yonkers High School.
This place is sure different from the Bronx!!
Walt.

Do you know Angelo and Laura Fusco?

I know the question wasn't asked of me, but Angelo and Laura Fusco owned the Holiday Inns in Elmira, Horseheads and Gang Mills, NY. I believe their son Al has been running them for years.
