Went to Walmart on 466 at 8:30 this morning. No toilet paper. The employee told me that they get shipments every day, but the seniors come in as soon as they open up and buy up all the toilet paper and paper towels. Really? Let’s chill people and quit eating prunes if we must!

There are restrictions. It isn't 10 seniors buying up 100 packs of TP. It's 200 seniors lining up before the store opens, hoping to be one of the people allowed to walk out with one pack, out of the 100 packs delivered.
All the supermarkets are rationing their supplies to their customers now.

Today I went to 466a walmart at 6am (senior day, not a lot of people) and 441 walmart thereafter. Both stores told me no deliveries were made last night, therefore no TP. I have made 8 trips to stores, all hours, since Saturday and no luck. Thankfully a good samaritan helped us!

Just got back from Big Lots in Fruitland Park. They have a decent supply of their house brand TP. $4.95 for 12 rolls. Two packages per household.
Better hurry though.

If you go on line to public and make your order for groceries for delivery , you will get one package of toilet paper plus whatever else you need. Assuming that it has been received by the store. That I find is the best way to actually get what you need. Plus you don't even have to leave the house.

The person who told me said Fruitland Park and I had no trouble finding it right off highway 27 between 441 and 44. In any event, it is close by.

Good idea ... when I was a teenager in Texas we used to "wrap" a house. If you really liked someone, you sneak out of the house at night and throw about 5 or 6 rolls of toilet paper up into their oak trees.
Hey, we were dumb kids but it was fun at the time.:MOJE_whot:

Procter and Gamble is ramping up production of Charmin. The PA plant is working. There are 2200 employees there.
An idled GA plant is being brought back. Other US plants are in UT, CA, MO, and WI.
P&G is doing everything possible to protect the health of employees on the job. But who really knows where all this is going. Let’s hope no lives are lost because of selfish fellow-citizens who are obsessed with their own behinds.
This morning I was listening to Leonard Cohen on my iPod. (Yes. I still have it.) In his song “Democracy” Cohen writes about “America — the cradle of the best and worst.”
“Sail on, sail on
O mighty Ship of State
To the Shores of Need
Past the Reefs of Greed
Through the Squalls of Hate
Sail on, sail on, sail on, sail on.”
Maybe take a little time to look up the lyrics to “Democracy” and give it a listen — and some thought. Leonard Cohen was a poet for our time. What would he be writing now.
And what would Mr. Whipple think of this underbelly type of behavior over Charmin. (cringe, shudder)

As I have said elsewhere, I refuse to be part or parcel to any of this mass hysteria. When I run out of TP I'll use cut up old cotton t shirts, which I have plenty of. No, I won't flush them, put them in a bucket of water, when enough accumulate rinse in utility tub and put in washer with some bleach. A bit messy? Yes, but much better than joining the "herd mentality". Painters rags are available at H.D. or Lowes. Just an idea I wanted to put out there. Each to their own.

What is this idiot behavior with TP hoarding?
COSTCO Toilet Paper
30 rolls
425 sheets per roll
12750 sheets per case
20 sheets per crap
637.5 craps per case
45.5 craps per day
So a person that grabs 4 Costco cases of TP and has a family
of 4 quarantined for the required 15 days, each one needs to crap
182 times a day to use up that much TP. Really people. Has
everyone been taking idiot pills?

I went to Publix yesterday morning. I arrived there at 6:40 AM and was in line ( about the 50th person) along with many others. When the doors opened at 7:00 AM there was a Publix employee standing at the door to ensure that other individuals arriving did not just walk into the store but had to get to the end of the line. When I entered the store I grabbed a carriage and headed right over to the paper products. There was a line of people with carriages waiting to get up the aisle. It moved along and I could see there were some paper products on the shelves. As I got about 3 carriages from the TP, I noticed several people coming around the corner who just jumped in and took the TP ahead of all of the others waiting in line. I spoke up to three of them and said there was a line. They didn't care and never responded just continued to take the TP and walked away. I think that Publix needs to have an employee standing on the aisle right next to the products that are most frequently being bought and ensure they don't cut the lines.
I know that there wasn't enough left on the shelves to accommodate the long line behind me, and part of that was because of the selfish and rude individuals who grabbed the TP ahead of others and left.

Of all the things to hoard in a crisis, why toilet paper? You are not going to die if you do not wipe your butt with TP. There are other options, plus we still have water. If you have less food, you have fewer bowel movements. It is funny to me how in a crisis, everyone is out to save their own ass! My hiney's clean!

calm down, the TP supply will catch up with the demand soon.....plus we all have limited storage
Now should anyone truly run out of TP, just remember "leaves of three, let them be"

Supply does not always come out first thing in morning. Went to Sams early on monday and no tp. Heard later on it was put out about 11.
Strange how can goods and fruits and vegetables are plentiful but TP shortage? Good grief.

I wish that I could draw because I would love to draw a cartoon strip like this-
1st frame - elderly couple standing hunched over in line in front of a store at 6:00 am because they are too frail and susceptible to shop with younger people.
2nd frame - same couple walk out of the store upright and proud as a peacock with a 12 pack mega roll package of TP. In the background is a young mother with two children on each side of her telling the children not to worry, there will be some left by the time they go in.
3rd frame - same elderly couple at home, gramma handing some fresh baked cookies to her own grandchildren, grandpa in the background trying to close the closet door chock full of TP. And daughter saying to the children “aren’t grandma and grandpa nice”.

I know this is after the fact. But, as a survivor of Hurricane Katrina we took heed to what the survivalists were talking about. We began to buy extra soap, toilet paper, hand towels, etc. and stockpile some basic groceries. Over time you can build up a months worth (we have 3months) of items and having bought them on sale at that. The purchases made over time do not cause any financial hardship. On items which have expiration dates we write the date prominently with a marker. We also rotate our stock.
When an emergency strikes next time you will not be caught unprepared. That's why we are called preppers. Be prepared for next time. Also remember when in a crisis when seconds count help is only minutes/hours/days/months away.

Like Publix, let the store managers put up warning signs that a person can ONLY buy X number of rolls. That means the cashiers must ALSO obey that warning and tell customers if they are trying to get more than the permitted numbers.

In a crisis such as this one, however, one has to prep with different rules. It is not good to collect one's entire prepped stash all in one store visit. One MUST be aware that others are just as deserving as oneself of preparing. This is not a competitive effort. If we are to curb more deaths, we must all unlock our senses of sympathy, empathy, and forgiveness, and follow the unspoken Smart Rules.

No, it appears you misunderstood my point ...
First, I'm opposed to price gouging. Second, if one take preparatory steps well in advance (think of a Boy Scout and "being prepared") market forces won't be disrupted hence no gouging.
Usually it's the people who were irresponsible and did not prepare that then turn around and cause the panic and gouging and end pu ask those of us who did for help.
Kind of the the story of the Little Red Hen. There are parallels.

Understood completely, just saying how can you hold one individual more responsible than another when they are both hurting the public. Huge difference between prepared and hoarding. So two people in a household need 80 rolls of TP, 50 lbs of meat, 9 doz eggs, etc... Have two week supply not two months, no store can keep up with supply when 75% of shoppers are hoarding.

We went to Walmart around 9 a.m. yesterday. They had lots of paper towels and toilet paper - the small 4 packs. They are limiting it to one package per order. The paper goods were not on the racks but in the aisles between the groceries and the clothing. Be good and only take one package.

If people take responsibility and have gradually prepared for any crisis, not just this one, they are typically not the hoarders you're referring to. Actually, they make it a point to avoid the stores when a crisis hit.
It sounds like you didn't prepare, rushed out to buy but didn't' find what you needed.

:ohdear: Wrong again! Did not panick, do not hoard, just bought our normal bi-weekly groceries. Did not go near a grocery for the first 2 weeks of March. My question is what crisis! If people had not panicked and hoarded from the beginning/gradually hoarded from the onset there would be no issues. If you bought double what you normally do you are panicking. Has there been a shut down of any grocery supplier in this country. Has any essential item manufacturer been shutdown? Nope. Instead of seeing how much can be stock piled why not help others with their supply. That is what we are doing.

went today for our weekly shopping and bought off a list we use to replace what we use out of the pantry. Looking at other shopping carts you would think there will not be anymore deliveries to the store. Most of the people were younger and dragging kids around the store. Not a store in the villages but still a super walmart.
