You would think that Mark Morse and his Sister would step up and help the small business's here in " The Villages ".
They the Morse Empire have enormous wealth and surely they could at the very least voice optimism, perhaps forgive a month or two lease payments.
But at the moment silence other than their ongoing projects.
I find it really odd that they appear to be ignoring the very needs of business's who obviously need help.
They are in need of your help. Especially the very employees that they rely on to keep them going.
Look Mr. Mark Morse and Ms. Jennifer Parr I am asking you as a resident here consider some kind of help wherever that you think is needed.
Thank You.

I wonder how many, if any, real estate developers, REIT's, etc., are waiving rent.
The Government's loan program is focused on assisting rent payments if needed.

So… Would the developers where you came from be doing what you expect the Morse’s to do? The senate just approved an aid package last night.

Back in my department head days, I would give the folks who worked in the department a hand-shake, pat on the back, or a sincere “thank you”. I didn’t need to go around broadcasting my actions. That made it look like it was all about me. Maybe that is what the are Morse’s doing...helping the merchants without the need to broadcast it.

It's none of our Business is it? Unless you rent from them. Maybe they are taking stock of whats going on and coming to a conclusion. Maybe they have done something already.
Do you think they want to loose the tenants they have compiled? I think not.
Usually the people who want to spend other peoples money seem to have Alligator Arms when the check shows up. They can reach someone else's wallet but not their own.

why do people pick on the Morse family? I don't know them, I don't care to know them, I don't care what they have or don't have, this is a great place they developed, just leave it at that.

It would be awesome if the Morse family offers a month or two of rent waivers to all the businesses who rent on their properties. It'd also be awesome if the county waives my property tax this year. It'd be terrific if my boss gave me the rest of the month and all next month off with full pay.
Does this mean I expect any of these entities to comply? Nope. Do I feel they should be obligated to comply? Nope. Should I be upset if they don't comply? Nope.
But sure - it'd be great if they did it anyway.

How do you know they are not doing lots things for the businesses and their employees? From what I saw during the Hurricane they did a ton of things for their residents and community. They didn't broadcast it.... They did it behind the scenes, not looking for praise or credit, just being the exceptional caring and generous family that they have showed time & time again that they are. Quite frankly tired of the "family bashers"... I am so very GRATEFUL to the Morse family for creating this incredible place we now call home and for all the things they do and create to make this time in our lives, the best time of our life!

The Morse's or for that matter any landlord has no reason to waive rent.
Any biz can get a fed loan for rent and payroll in 5 minutes from the community bank which will be forgiven under the 350 billion $$ stimulus plan.
Therefore, keeping their employees from losing their jobs and the business operating for up to 4 months, which maybe extended
What the Morse's can do is facilitate these loans thru Citizens bank on an expedited basis. :coolsmiley:

It's none of our business what they do our don't do for their tenants period. I swear no matter what they do or don't do there's always somebody to find something wrong with it. We retired here to enjoy the rest of our lives period. As far we're concerned this is fantastic living and have no complaints about what they're doing. Doubt there is anyplace you could go where the owners would advertise to the general public what they do or don't do. JMO

Not everyone broadcasts what they do for people. I never tell anyone what I am doing for someone else. What is the point? If you want to help someone do it.
The Morse family has no obligation to do anything. If they want to they will but it will be no ones business but theirs. Live and let live. Enjoy the ride and let everyone else enjoy theirs. No need to wonder what others are doing. Build your own sand castle in your own sand box.

Some people worry to much about everyone else's business. Worry about yourself and how you can do better, that should keep you plenty busy. If others do not do their part, they will have to answer to that from a higher being. To quote the song, " mind your own business, then you won't be minded mine" God gave you 2 legs, use them to stand on your own!

Hey while you're at it, ask them to do away with the $250 fine for crashing through a gate in TV for the next couple of months....the folks that don't know how to drive and can't help themselves will certainly appreciate that...
Get real, the Morse family doesn't owe any small business that rents/leases property from them anything beyond honoring the lease agreement. Many of these small businesses have been "fishing in a barrel" and are enjoying consistent high sales volume, all thanks to what the Morse family has created and continues to create...
The Morse family is certainly astute enough to recognize the role that they should play with their tenants during all of this and they don't need your 'locker room advice'....
As someone else has already pointed out, conversations are most certainly happening....it's nothing that you need to involved in
unless of course you decide to kick in some of your own $$$

Seriously. Did you support all these businesses and shop at each one of them before this happened? It's happening everywhere not just here. The Villages is a business like any other and they also loose money when businesses go under, just like any other business owner. Stop hating them because they run their business well and make money, which by the way has allowed us all to live the wonderful lives we have here. My suggestion to you is stop shopping mega stores when this is over and start shopping local small businesses to help get them back on their feet, and when you eat out after this is over, tip big if the server deserves it, that helps a real person. Share that check the govt is sending you with small businesses, spread the wealth.
Before you say I don't know what I'm talking about, I owned several small businesses throughout my life and was helped thru several natural disasters by great and loyal customers. Share.

Why do some people think the Developer is responsible for problems they did not create. Where do they come up with this idea.
The Morse family are developers, that is all. In my opinion, they are doing a good job in creating a great place to live and the benefits are there if you take advantage of them. Please share with everyone a better place to live so unhappy residents can move.

just because you are not in any conversational loop that may be going on, isn't proof that those conversations are not going on
if you live in TV you're kind of old to be still looking for assurances from 'mommy and daddy' that things are going to work out
the Morse family is a class act...they don't need to self promote or pound their chest that they are giving back to others

By now, the Morse family knows how this board works. They are aware that they are damned if they do, and damned if they don't. If they come out with a statement regarding their actions (or inactions), the posts will range from "woefully inadequate due to their greed", to "God bless the developer". In between you will find;
-That's nice but they could've done more
-There was no reason to do anything
-I heard from someone that it's not true
-Will I get a refund on my Amenities Fee
-Why are my amenity fees being used for this (I know it, and you know, but you gotta know it's coming)
And my favorite,
-Please provide verifiable documentation of relief actions taken, along with signed and notarized letters (on the vendors letterhead, naturally), attesting to the developers actions. Please note that vendors may be randomly contacted to verify the accuracy of the provided documents!
If I was the developer (which I am not), I wouldn't feed this fire either!

If indeed the Morse Family is helping with the landlords with rent so they can help their workers then they should just come out and state that they are helping. This would stop the negativity. If the workers who drive from as far as Ocala and Orlando every day find a new job or move away, fifty percent of the restaurants will close!

I agree with most of what has been said in the replies IF it pertained to the average person, or maybe even the average millionaire. But I think the Multi-Billionaires of the world have a more public responsibility. They each have the financial wealth of a small country. That wealth represents resources so far beyond what any of them will ever need that how they are putting it to use is of public interest and should be openly shared at all times, not just during states of emergency or crisis. That said, you may now proceed to trash me.

I do not think this is true at all. They value their privacy—that is their right. They have also demonstrated that they are very classy. If they told everyone what they do, as you suggest, they’d be accused of bragging.

This place was created by the Harold and then the Morse family. They took the risk, did the work, and reaped the rewards.
People move here on their own accord. Most adapt. Some gripe, snipe and criticize.

Thank You.
PS: My wife & I love it here and love everything that you all do.:)
Perhaps the family is doing what they can and we have no idea. We are ALL in this together and we can't judge others just because we don't SEE them doing something. I do hope they are, but in the meantime, let's all support our local businesses and restaurants as best we can.

I guess we’ve grown so accustomed to those in charge congratulating themselves with constant pats on the back. Perhaps the Morse family has more class than that. Let’s hope.
