Do you personally know a Villager with the Coronavirus??
If so, were you contacted by any "health organization" letting you know and asking you to lock yourself up for 14 days??
Just wondering if the tracking and tracing is happening.
Thanks in advance.

That's a great question and I understand the point of it. A concern is that most of us don't know if we know somebody who is infected.
I'll be interested in the replies about tracking and tracing. After more testing is done, a lot of us may learn we know somebody with it.

There are some residents that may cause issues with those testing positive.

Not personally but I played scrabble with four friends last week (I would not have gone but I take prescription hydroxychloroquine) And the hostess Said that a man down the street was positive, and might have been the first person in the Sumter area to have it. Were we dumb to meet?

Maybe not dumb, but incautious, perhaps.

I wouldn't say say dumb ... too harsh, but maybe put those games on the back burner for now.
Did you all successfully social distance during the game?
The drug, btw, only pertains to (possible, yet to be proven) alleviation of a ramp up in the virus's attack.

Are to attempting to discuss HIPAA???
There are carve-outs for the health system on privacy, even without a declared health emergency. The health system can contact exposed people. The exposed people are not restricted by HIPAA.

I wouldn't say dumb because I too take that medication. I was going to some treatments a week ago (but had 'some' trepidation'---still using social distance and cleaning of hands etc). NOW though I'm sequestured in our home and probably won't go out unless it's for a ride in the car to just have a change of scenery or to get some much needed items at the store. Read, but haven't personally experienced it, that Winn Dixie is enforcing some social distancing guide-lines. Hope the rest of the chains are going to do the same. I so wish good health for you Kitty, for that man who may have the virus, for your friends and everyone else.

It is today's lead story in "the other news" we are not allowed to list on this site.

There are somewhere around 130,000 and 150,000 people living in The Villages. There are about 30 or so people that have tested positive. so the chance of one person knowing one of them is very low.
But that's not even the point. The fact is that none of us actually know if we know someone that has it. Those 30 plus cases are just like the 102,000 cases nationwide. They are only cases of people who have been tested and who are positive. I don't know how many people have been tested in The Villages or nationwide or world wide for that matter. There are a lot more cases out there than the number of positive test reported.
In fact some people who have been tested and were found to be negative may have contracted the virus after they were tested.
In many cases, people had very mild symptoms and didn't think anything of it. They thought that they had a cold or a mild flu. They never sought medical attention. How many of them were walking around without showing symptoms?
In many cases, symptoms show until 14 days after contracting the virus so many people that you know might have it and don't know it.
There are so many different situations with this virus that it's hard to believe that we all won't eventually get it.

Has hydroxy chloraquine be shown to prevent the virus or just to mitigate the symptoms?
Is it thought to be a preventative as well as curative?
As far as I know, it has been used in conjunction with a Z-Pak or azithromycin.
If I were on hydroxy chloraquine I would want to know these things. And for the rest of us I'd like to know because if it is not a preventative and people are walking around thinking that they are safe because they are on it for the RA or whatever, and they are not, then they are risking other people's lives.
