So, everyone knows the best way to get around in TV is by golf cart...but what about in the heat? I am not talking about 70 degree days... I am talking about those 85 and above days...do you still go everywhere by golf cart?...enjoying the wind blowing through your hair... or... do you prefer your nice air conditioned car?... or does it just depend on what you are doing i.e. going to the grocery store for ice cream = car? or early and late runs in the golf cart and heat of the day runs by car? Just wondering, not that it matters, but I am not there, and I am stuck in the heat up North and I don't have a golf cart to get around in, so I sit here just wondering.
Depends on what you said....where you're going, what you're getting, your tolerance for heat.
There has been less cart traffic on the cart path behind my house. This could be due to the heat or due to the fact that many are back in their other homes.
Personally, in the heat, I prefer my air-conditioned automobile, but that's just me... :)

Hi SSmith,
It's a good question. In our case, as you surmised, it depends. We were in just in TV for a long weekend. We were also in TV for about 10 days in June. We seem to always take the cart to the grocery store and of course, to play golf. We sometimes took the car for longer trips, especially in the evening if pop up showers were around.

When it is above 90 we fold down the top of our windshield on the carts.
We use the car when we leave TV or go shopping.

That is a very good question. I think about that alot.

We just arrived in TV this week. In February we saw tons of golf carts, In May there were still many more carts than cars. This week the number of cars is much higher except in the evening. I blame it on the heat.

I am addicted to our golf cart. I love that stupid thing. I'm like a teenager who just got a drivers license. I'll use it anytime to go anywhere that is feasible. But then again, I've sat in a golf cart with a winter coat and gloves to play golf with my husband (in TV and other places) and sat in the cart with a water bottle battery operated fan from Walmart spraying the back of my neck praying I didn't die from heat exhaustion. My husband accuses me of intentionally hitting the ball in the shade so I can cool off.
One advantage to using a cart in the heat to make a number of short stops, is that it doesnt get pizza oven hot sitting in the parking lot while youre in the store picking up a few things. Just hop back in the cart and let the breeze keep you cool while you head for your next stop.

We have 2/20 air conditioning in our Golf Car on hotter days.
Two sides down driving 20 mph!

We are finding golf cart transportation to be a fun novelty, but certainly does not replace our cars. It's not just the heat/cold either. I find sitting in a golf cart for 20-30 minutes at a time to be very uncomfortable and, when I get out after that amount of time sitting on a (relatively) hard seat, I can hardly walk.

ArmyGuy if you are going 20 MPH you are speeding............. :police:

Speeding really? I was told the average top speed we could go is 19-21 mph in a Golf Car.

Believe it or not, when we were riding in our GC about two weeks a go, and I even forgot where, but Sumter Sheriffs were set up aiming there speed guns at GCs going by.

If you are having trouble with that hard seat, you might want to consider getting a better seat. When we got our reconditioned cart from Grandpa & Grandpa's Village Buggies, we got an upgraded seat. It has that memory foam and is fantastically comfortable. It also has a springy back that functions like a shock absorber for all those bumps. I'm sure they could put one in your cart.

If you think 70 degrees is heat you should probably rethink moving to Florida

Your body adjusts to heat/cold. I've learned from moving from hot to cold and cold to hot climates, that your body adjusts in a few months to your new climate. True, someone not used to the heat may think that the 70's is warm, when in a warmer climate the 70's is considered cool.
Don't fret about it. After you are here in Florida for one season of the hottest months, your body will become acclimated.

I too go everywhere in a cart. As long as you are moving you are generating a 20 mph breeze and it isn't really that bad. Also a golf cart is good for my health. I find myself going to the fitness center more often just for an excuse to take a ride.

Do you recall what the seat costs and are they available in the after-market? We can get an upgraded seat from the place we bought our cart, but they want $500 for them. I'm not sure how much the pain in my a$$ is worth.

Ours was the $500 seat. There is also one for $1200 that has bucket seats, but I found the $500 seat more comfortable. Don't know if there is an after-market for these.

I hate getting into a hot car. The cart is much more fun and parking is easier. 95 degrees with a 19.5 mph self generating breeze isn't so bad.

The cart is always the first choice... we have a 'bug screen' that allows air to flow in, keeps bugs out, and cuts down on excess wind and noise. The cart is my convertible. I find it comfortable, fun, and refreshing.
The only time I won't take it out is if bad storms are threatening or I'm going to be more than 5 miles from home late after dark.

I have to agree with the majority of these posts , I find it very refreshing to put the windshield down and drive about 93 mph and its not bad at all....

only use the cart when going for mail or to Lake Sumter Landing. There really is no practical reason for us to have a cart since we do not golf. My wife does not like driving it. She is the type that grabs handles and presses imaginary brakes as a passenger in a car. Criticizes my driving but never volunteers to drive. :). The cart is strictly my toy. The go cart I never could quite build in my youth. Some people use it as their main mode of transport in TV.

The cart definitely- only take the car if I am going outside the Villages, it is a downpour or I have to buy something too big to fit in the cart (like when I bought my lawn mower).

I love the golf cart even in the bad weather. To me it's one of TVs great things. Only time the car is used is off property where the cart can't be taken. I have a 4 seat and am looking for a good 2 seater. Drove a car or truck everyday for to long, now it's fun time;
