As a newbie effective 5-1-2020, are we allowed to have a yard sale? Post signs? Restrictions?

Yes, but everything must be inside the garage. Nothing on the driveway or the lawn. Put balloons on your lamp post. No signs on Village property, only on private property with permission. Advertise in social media and in the Sun.
Good luck!

It depends on which part of the Villages you're in. Some areas allow signs on the front yard on the day of the event. Some don't allow signage at all. Some allow you to have stuff in your driveway on display, some require you to keep your stuff in the garage or in the house (or in the back yard, I suppose, if you have a courtyard villa).
Some have rules, but as long as the neighbors don't complain, no one will try and stop you from breaking them.
Some don't have rules, but neighbors might complain anyway.

Duh. Just maybe that was a general question...BUT there’s nothing that says we’ll be out of this as of May 1.

Actually the rule for all is no merchandise in driveway or lawn. That does not say people don't do it as long as neighbors don't complain

Get a copy of your deed restrictions for your district. It tells you everything you need to know about what you can or cannot do. They are available online at Village Community Development Districts (https://www.districtgov.org/). Look at the map to determine what district you're in to determine where to find your deed restrictions.
I assume you will not be having a garage sale as soon as you get here. Why pay to move something you don't want in your new home?

not to be rude but don't you think you should wait to see how things progress before you decide you're having a yard sale? They are saying the Corona virus amounts are going to peak May 1st

It is for those who died or lost love ones.

It was just a question. Maybe she doesn’t plan on having one right now but was just curious if they are even allowed. I would hope everyone knows the shape this country is in right now and would follow the rules.

Not now silly. When this has passed. Who would have a yard sale now? Just wondering about the rules.

Why do people assume that my intention was to have one during the China virus mess? Should we rethink our decision to move to TV? I thought that the folks in TV had more common sense than this. I wouldn't be so presumptuous as some have been to someone who hasn't even closed on their new home. Thanks to those who gave me some great info.

wow, lighten up, folks,,, most missed the op's qualifier: ' effective 5-1-2020 ' - its not like he/she's having 1 tomorrow,,, personally i like knowing where/when/how to locate deed restrictions - thanks for that information
this too shall pass,,, we may not ALL be here to participate in post-corona life but most of us will survive

Also, I do have the deed restrictions and it is not covered. That was the reason for the question. Thanks again!

The rules are the same for all. Some just choose to ignore them.

Why would you even consider a yard sale..people are should be staying at home...I don’t think a yard sale is appropriate at this time.
She’s asking a question for some time in the future. She’s not even living here yet and wants to know what the rules are.
