View Full Version : No visitors, not even family, may golf and cashless policy.

It appears they golf courses in TV are moving to a cashless mode along with other changes. The no visitor policy is a bummer when your son or daughter is visiting and staying in your home. I suppose we will go outside of the bubble to play should we decide to play golf. It is much safer in The Villages IMHO. Does anyone know if they are still collecting for use of golf carts by using a credit card on courses south of State Route 44? :mademyday:

You never know but these visitors might be coming from "Hot-Spots" locations, good move by the Villages stopping visitors from playing....

Cashless makes sense. Paper money goes from hand to hand to hand with who knows what is on it.

I agree, we rarely use cash and haven’t for years. The cash rewards given by most credit card companies is a nice bonus. :bigbow:

Wise move by The Villages to protect their employees. Who, by the way are residents of The Villages too. Perhaps this new process can help stream line the check-in process in the future. By having guests and renters prepay trail fees and rounds of golf on the executive courses. The Villages could issue prepaid type credit cards. The guest, renter and homeowner/landlord will still need to show a Valid Villages ID and D/L with the use of a prepaid card. This would help curb, guests, renters etc., using all the tee times.

I understand your point. These are difficult times. However, there are times when family members are necessary but I agree not necessary to play golf.

I know their family, but in a time of travel restrictions how did your son and daughter get here ?
That's why they keep saying over and over stay in in place..Yet many heed the warning

As an employee and player, I am grateful for the changes and focus to keep everyone as safe as possible yet offer the opportunity to be outside for several hours enjoying the game we all love. The steps taken by the Golf and Tennis organization is right on!!

We have 2 friends young adults coming.

Before you all freak out, they are traveling via military to help give relief to staff. Not sure where they will be boots in Florida, but I promised Mom who is working ICU 16 hour plus shifts, I have plenty of time to keep in touch with them.

I have said for years that Villages should give the option to attach a credit card to your village ID. This would make the process so much simpler. By just scanning your village ID it would post your charges against the credit card on file. Local Restaurants and businesses could also then take the village ID for Payment.

It would be best if people in The Villages would stop having visitors, period. That's why this disease is spreading. Asymptomatic people are spreading this disease, and travelling just increase the possibility of exposure. I fully support TV policy on this.

If to prevent the spread of the virus why has the Developer not shut the courses down at 4 pm and prevented Visitors from golfing on His Championship Courses?

Son is a Florida resident and lives on the “space coast”. Granddaughter is a student at UCF. Still have family in Illinois, Nashville and Boston area none of which are traveling right now. Unlike my wife and I who grew up in small Midwestern towns with Grandpa, Grandma, Cousins, Aunts and Uncles close by, many of our friends and acquaintances in TV (like us) have family scattered all over the U.S. and the World. The Villages is a great place to visit (especially in the winter season) but not right now unless it’s personally necessary. We all have seen many changes during our lifetime but none of us have seen anything like a pandemic. We are, and should be, very diligent and concerned, but now is not the time to be paranoid or panic either. Anxiety and stress will only lessen your immune system not help it. Best to social distance and get some exercise anyway you can IMHO. Fore.

oh, here we go again....bash the developer

ya wanna increase your chances of avoiding covid-19???

stay home, practice social distancing, wear protective masks and gloves when you shop for food, wash your hands for a full 20 seconds,...don't accept any visitors...take a walk to get exercise...this is not difficult

the developer is not your 'mommy'...nor does the developer have any control over what you do / don't do

I say to all....stop pointing a finger at the developer...we all are at an age where we should have grown up and are able to act like clear thinking adults

Why would you do something like call the source and get factual information? You will ruin this thread.:)

Since I can’t pay my annual trail fee, why doesn’t TV waive those of us who have expired trail fees?
Also, how about being reimbursed our Amenities for every month the offices and all Rec. centers are closed.

You can pay the trail fee by phone using a credit card. Send an email to Villages Customer Service with your phone number and they will phone you. customerservice@districtgov.org

Fron Turf Talk:
Effective April 8th, there will be no exchange of cash for payment of a daily trail fee or guest rate to play golf. Trail Fees must be paid in advance or via phone with a credit card. To accommodate residents and make this transition as seamless as possible, the following updates will take effect on April 8th:

A new temporary monthly flat fee of $ 20.00 per month for Trail Fees will be created to accommodate what are now daily cash trail fee golfers. This is in addition to the 6-month and yearly trail fees.Customer Service and Recreation Administration will be taking calls and payment from residents Monday – Friday from 6:45am to 5pm and Saturday & Sunday from 6:45am – 4:00pm.The Starter Shacks will provide a phone number to those residents wishing to purchase the monthly trail fee. In addition, Customer Service will continue to be available via email at CustomerService@districtgov.org and will contact residents via telephone to pay annual trail fees. Tee time hours are being modified to reflect the current available staffing levels of Executive Golf Operations. Hours will be from 7am through 4pm.A golfer will still have the ability to play by walking with a pull cart or carrying their own bag. Only single riders in golf cars will be permitted unless the individuals are cohabitating in the same home.

Incorrect. Still renting carts. Not renting golf clubs. And it is golfthevillages.com that has the updates for the golf courses.

These steps should make golf very safe! Only issue I have is that they are 2 weeks later than they should have been. I truly don't understand the delay! I am truly thankful for the low numbers we are experiencing in The Villages.

I do think there needs to be changes at the top of the golf division. For the leaders of the division not have any direct communication with the staff is unheard of in any size organization. Under GMS we would have had some kind of direction. After the governors announcement last Thursday warning concerning residents 65 and older we heard nothing on Friday. We truly have no leadership at the top!

Case in point. My neighbor has gone back home. Last week some younger kids and I assume their young mother were in his pool all day several days screaming and running around like kids do and making life miserable for the neighbors. I know this couple has no kids. Guess what? They are visiting from up North because there is no school and they are staying for several weeks down the street. They have permission from the owner to use the pool, because the grandparents watch the house while the snow birds are away. Very thoughtful, and why are they not doing school work? And why are they here? Reminds me of the joke showing the mother ripping the bumper sticker that says: "My kid is an honor student" off her car. I guess the home schooling was not going well.
