But we also have to consider that China has not been very forthcoming about people actually infected and dying from COVID-19. Shanghai and Beijing may very well have been hit a lot harder than we know.

Is it possible that it’s a conspiracy by China? Maybe. Is it probable? Who knows. One thing about viruses: once they’re let loose they’re pretty hard to contain or control. A bacteria would be much easier to set upon the world and do no harm to China. I wouldn’t be surprised if China has a vaccine they’re not sharing with the world. That would make a lot more sense.

As luck would have it, my mother-in-law who lives in Hubei was visiting my brother-in-law in Beijing for Chinese New Year (January 25). Arrived a week early. She was stuck there until a week ago. Didn't leave the small apartment for over 2 months. They really enforced social distancing and it was quite effective because very few people got sick in Beijing and numbers were lower than they could have been in Wuhan. Chinese leaders were in a panic about the virus. Official deaths were suppressed but Chinese citizens knew because there were more funeral urns purchased in Wuhan than reported deaths. There is no way the Chinese government was responsible for starting the virus. The propaganda effort extended to the severity and their response to the virus, which was covered up at the beginning.

Russia and North Korea have not been forthcoming with their virus cases and judging from Russia's recent isolation it's likely that it's not so good over there.

There are conspiracy theories going around everywhere. In China there is a rumor that the US Military introduced the virus during the Military Games in Wuhan in October. This rumor has not been officially supported by the Chinese government but it has not been discouraged either. They are happy to have a distraction from their handling of the virus.

It's unlikely that any conspiracy theory is true. It's in nobody's interest to ruin the world economy. It's in China's best interest that the world is able to buy all the stuff they make.

No one can explain how China now (4/7/2020) reports zero new deaths and 1,033 “imported” new cases. China only reports 3,333 total deaths but little Italy has 17,669 and it’s still increasing. Even with forced lockdown, a vaccine and a miraculous treatment, that’s just not possible. Viruses don’t go away like that. Look at the where the virus has impacted the most: The West. So what does China know about this virus’ transmission, treatment and/or immunity/vaccine that US & others don’t?

South Korea did not eliminate it but they only had 200 total deaths and only 10,384 confirmed cases but all we hear is how many tests they did very early. Given the population densities in some of these places, Italy and Spain shouldn’t have nearly so many.

Reporting by Coroners varies. HIPAA and other privacy laws affect how, where and what is reported. Families have some choices.

Just one example of which I’m sure there are many: When my wonderful step-Dad died in 2006, the rural Coroner (who also owns & operates the only local funeral home) tried to submit his death as COPD for which he was never even diagnosed. If we hadn’t had a letter from Mayo stating he had NK Leukemia and he died from it, his death would have been misreported. I think this type of thing happens all the time.
