Dentists use nitrous oxide, not nitric oxide.

A few dentists have gotten hooked on it. One who set up a chair and nitrous oxide equipment is a storage unit a few years ago in Albuquerque and used to go in there, pull the door down and dose himself finally over did it one day. A few days later the smell of his rotting body got some attention. They opened the unit's door and there he was. Yuck!

Thanks for clarifying. I had extensive dental work done at one point and the dentist and I used to joke whether I wanted a martini or a joint that night.

As a former Neonatal Intensive care RN, I have taken care of premature infants who required Nitric as a last resort for failing lung function. Every gets a big laugh out of giving "Viagra" to premature infants, but those born at 23-16 weeks gestation have very underdeveloped lungs and even on 100% oxygen (room air that you and breathe is 21% oxygen) they often cannot maintain their oxygen saturations (O2 sats) at the level required to sustain life and prevent damage to the eyes and brain.
Sildanafil promotes increased oxygen saturation and can save their lives.
I think the investigative work using this drug may hold a chance of saving lives of covid19 patients who suffer sudden severe lung damage. all jokes aside, the science is there.
