When u go to fill up your gas tank, buy premium gas. Few people buy that now, so little chance of getting the virus from the handle

Buy gas much????
The handle is the same for all 3 grades, you just push a button to select which grade.

No the handles are different at marathon. This is a great safety measure.
Also heard to lift milk from the bottom...not the handle. People may lift it and put it back

Not at any Marathon I go to. Perhaps you are referring to the 90 REC fuel with a separate handle on some pumps, not "premium" gas????
And plenty of people exclusively use the REC gas.

Gas? Who needs gas. My truck is getting 3 weeks to the gallon right now..

My car is designed to run on 87 octane. My hand is protected by a plastic bag that is discarded after I pump gas, an infrequent event these days.

By the time we need gas it will be back to $2.90.

:bigbow: Once again just when you think you've seen it all or heard it all .......someone proves you wrong. I think OP should put some diesel in his golfcart. I haven't touched that handle in a long time. :icon_wink:

And another suggestion. Carry a stick with a hook so you can open non-automatic doors.
These are all things we need to do to stop the sptead

Dog Poop bags work great, of course that assumes that people know what dog poop bags are.

I believe that I must tell you that is his way to pull on our leg.
Oh the tales I could tell....Was it Hummus he wanted to discuss or some ethnic food.
He is trying to be funny......I guess.

What if someone grabbed the wrong hose? Just poke the button with the gas spout (before turning on the "flow.") and use a Clorox or alcohol wipe to hold the handle.. We always carry Clorox or alcohol wipes anyway so when I leave the station the surfaces of the handle, hose and the numeric pad is probably cleaner than it's ever been. :)

I keep a latex glove on my golf cart and wear it when I fill up. Keep in in your car as well. Better than paying the extra $.30-$.40 per gallon.

I just wear disposable plastic gloves. Not gonna pay $.50 more a gallon for premium

If one is that paranoid about catching germs, perhaps staying home with your blinds shut is called for. Hard to catch the virus if you stay in your own home, using disinfectant hourly.

Agree. How about you just keep paper towels with you and throw away after touching anything. Im certainly not carrying a stick with a hook to open doors as suggested. Nor am I paying more for gas and I have never seen different pumps for diff grades of gas

WHAT???? This is foolishness
Love to see the statistics you have that suggest that fewer people contract covid-19 from the premium pump handle...
Premium gas is a waste of money for any car that doesn't require it...
bring a plastic bag from Publix or WD, put that on your hand when you go to the pump and discard the bag in the trash bucket when you're through filling up

And if your car doesn't require premium, you might be damaging your engine by using premium--without enough compression to warrant premium, you could have a carbon build up--follow manufactures guidelines, our cars require a minimum of 91 octane
And , detergent guidelines were changed by the EPA,last fall-now almost all gas is considered Top Tier
If you want more detergent in your gas add a can of SeaFoam every 6K miles

Alternatively, I wear gloves and buy regular. With the money I save, I can buy masks.

Just wear a glove, throw it away and use sanitizer. All it takes is one person positive.

You only need 1 person infected. Wipe the nozzle down before using, or wear gloves and wash your hands. Save your money and buy the type of gas you actually need.

Did you sanitize the bag? Put you hand in a bag that had infected stuff in. Doesn't make sense to me.

If you’re that concerned about virus transmission via a gas pump handle either wear gloves or stay home
