Some people thought I was joking about sneeze clouds in my quitting golf thread.

Here are two simulations, one indoors and one outside. If you asked me a month or two ago if I'd ever be posting about sneeze cloud simulations I'd ask you if you forgot your meds.

Terrifying video shows how a single cough can spread a cloud of coronavirus across supermarket that lingers for minutes – The Sun (https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11359723/video-cough-can-spread-cloud-coronavirus-across-supermarket-lingers/)

Horrific video shows coronavirus particles from runners can infect you even if you’re 2m away – The Sun (https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11360637/video-runners-breath-spread-coronavirus/)

There are a number of cloud simulations out there, showing the coverage.

Looks like four golfers on a green or tee box could be sucking the same cloud.

Oh well............just light up another cigarette and tee-one-up.

Imagine that and people in the Villages still calling for service on their appliances because a light is out in ref or under the microwave
and my dishwasher is not drying good refrigerator is making too much noise. Putting those techs in harms way and yourself. Really people get over the nonsense.

These are again a "simulation". Most people, probably 90% cover there mouth when sneezing so the simulation is not real world, plus the air vortex around any moving machine will pretty much invalidate the "simulation". Also what part of Covid-19 is spread from contact with your hands to your face from touching contaminated surfaces is not mentioned in any of the simulations. Understand the concerns but you could also under the right conditions be hit by a part falling from an airplane.

From the CDC:

The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.
Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks.
These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.
Some recent studies have suggested that COVID-19 may be spread by people who are not showing symptoms.

It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes. This is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads, but we are still learning more about this virus

I thought it was an informative post. Informative posts bring something to light, allowing others to research & review. Everyone can draw their own conclusions and act if they choose.

Infection rates would likely be orders of magnitude higher if simply walking through an infected persons exhaust was infectious. Especially people who work in public environments such as grocery's.

CDC says they have found traces of covid 19 in feces and sewage systems. Advise lowering the lid before flushing.

If the article below is real, China CDC actually addressed this and concluded that if he or she who dealt it was wearing pants not to worry.

The Sun just reported it. Other news outlets also show same simulation. The actual graphic was created at the University of Helsinki. The project involves around 30 researchers, whose specialisations include fluid dynamics, aerosol physics, social networks, ventilation, virology and biomedical engineering using a supercomputer.

Reading more about this at one of the universities that participated in these studies, I should have called this a "cough cloud simulation" If I am reading it right, the reason these clouds go farther and stay in the air longer is explained as follows.

The researchers of the consortium modelled the airborne movement of aerosol particles smaller than 20 micrometres. For a dry cough, which is a typical symptom of the current coronavirus, the particle size is typically less than 15 micrometres. Extremely small particles of this size do not sink on the floor, but instead, move along in the air currents or remain floating in the same place. Studies of influenza A have confirmed that the influenza A virus can be found in the smallest particles, which measure less than 5 micrometres.

Researchers modelling the spread of the coronavirus emphasise the importance of avoiding busy indoor spaces | Aalto University (https://www.aalto.fi/en/news/researchers-modelling-the-spread-of-the-coronavirus-emphasise-the-importance-of-avoiding-busy)

This is probably why Dr Birx recently warned us to stay out of grocery stores etc as much as possible. I haven't set foot inside anywhere except my own home for 3 weeks. If I had to I would wear a mask.

I question if a fart cloud would travel as far as a sneeze cloud. I'm thinking no since clothing layers would be involved.

I have to agree with you. I mostly always do anyhow. And I read the information awhile back. I try to do my part and cover my farts.

I did see the graphics of how far a cough or sneeze can travel. It is scary. I just have sources I trust more than others.

Easter blessings to you two and the pup, Don.
