Resale listings frequently identify the community, but don't mention when the house was built (at least not in the summary). I'm interested in newer construction so it would be nice if I knew the age of each community so I could narrow my search. Can anyone help me?

If you have the address of the resale home you are interested in, the Sumter County Appraiser search engine will give you the date when the home was built. Most if not all of the newest construction in the Villages is in the Southern part of the Villages which is as far as I know all Sumter County.

Here is a link to the Sumter County Appraiser. The record search function on the top left margin with an address will give you the date of the house construction. http://www.sumterpa.com/

Here's a link to an old thread that should answer your question...

https://www.talkofthevillages.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23259

From that thread, here is KayakerNC's list. Only need to add the newest Villages for 2009-2010. Pennecamp and Buttonwood with Tamarind Grove and St James to come north of 466A. Everything from about 2001 on is accurate. I see some Villages missing for prior to 2001 .... Glenbrook, Palo Alto, Polo Ridge, Hacienda, El Santiago, Santo Domingo. Stuff prior to '92 is CC Hills, Orange Blossom Hills, and Silver Lake

Kayaker's list:

This is NOT official, based on my research into the tax rolls, which may be not 100% accurate.

1992 Del Mar (Lake County)
1994 Rio Ponderosa
1995 Rio Grande
1996 de La Vista
1997 Alhambra
1997 Santo Domingo
1999 Santiago
2000 Belle Aire
2001 Springdale (Marion Cty)
2002 Chatham (Marion Cty)
2002 Piedmont (Marion Cty)
2003 Summerhill
2003 Bonnybrook
2003 Calumet Grove (Marion Cty)
2004 Lynnhaven
2004 Winifred
2004 Ashland
2004 Belvedere
2005 Liberty Park
2005 Sunset Pointe
2005 Tall Trees
2005 Poinciana
2005 Virginia Trace
2006 Caroline
2006 Sabal Chase
2006 Mallory Square
2006 Duval
2006 Largo
2007 Amelia
2007 Hadley
2008 Bonita
2008 Hemingway
2008 St Charles

Oops - I spoke too soon. When I opened the VLS website the first page had Villages that were not on the list - Briar Meadow, Chatham... Was that because the list only included Sumter County? And can I assume that if the house isn't in Sumter County it is older?

No. Hickory Head Hammock, where old Mr. Schwartz lived,(Gary Morse's father and the originator of TV) is in Sumter County and it is a little older.

I KNOW Boomer is reading that sentence and shaking her head.

I guess what I'm really looking for is the names of Villages in which most of the homes were built more recently - specifically since 2005 (inclusive). If that list has them all, then that's just what I needed. I'm trying to narrow my search to newer Villages. Also, do most Villages have a mix of home types or do some Villages only have one home type - such as Villas or Designer homes?

Taylor...the earlier list is accurate from 2005 on (once you include the latest villages since 08).

Most villages have a mix of villas, ranch/cottage homes, and designers.

The "Bridgeport" villages are all premiers; Oops, I see now he left off the 3 Bridgeport villages - Lake Sumter, Lake Miona, Miona Shores. They span approx 2005-2009;

Pennecamp has premieres and other types.

Well, I got out my map and charted the newer Villages so I think I'm beginning to get a picture, but I have one more question. I think I heard that another 'Center' similar to Lake Sumter Landing and Spanish Springs is in the plan. Can you tell me where that will be?

Brownwood will be near the intersection of Buena Vista and Rt. 44.

If you are looking at a $5 Villages map it will be south of 466A and west of BV

All New housing for sale is in Sumter County and has been for maybe seven years or so.

The closer you get to 466A the newer the homes, as a general rule. Buena Vista now extends south across 466A for a few miles to Rt. 44. Buena Vista is entirely in TV. It may not be on your map. TV will most likley begin building homes south of 466A within the next year. If you have not been here you should try the "Lifestyle Visit", there is no pressure and you can get a feel for TV. We have lived here about a year in Duval. We made 3 lifestyles and a few private rentals over a 20 year period. We moved here the day after retirement.

20 years must be a record of some sort - when you first started looking in TV it was just the historic area.
