Dr. Birks just commented about Jacksonville. She was impressed that the beaches were opened in an area where the risk was low because there had been few cases there recently. She deemed beachgoing in Jax a good thing, saying that informing the people allowed them to make good decisions, and that's what had been done in this case.
Here at TV, I feel like we have been kept in the dark. We don't know what Villages have infection and which don't. Just rumors. That's really offensive, that there's a radio station and a newspaper and the only real news we hear about our neighbors is through word-of-mouth. I'm not complaining about the media. I'm complaining about the lack of information - and that comes from those in charge. Those in charge are terrible communicators.
I think we should know everything – every painful detail – since it could be a matter of preserving our health, even life and death. We don't need to hear the HIPPA excuse because the internet is already full of just the kind of data we need here and now. We don't need names, and we certainly don't need excuses.
I think TV has an affirmative obligation to inform us. We don't know what information is being considered while we wait, and wait, and wait. The virus isn't slinking away because we're all hiding from it. It's like a bear lurking around our cabin in the woods. If we don't come out for another month, it may still be there.
We need communication to inform our decisions.
Here are some things we'd like to know:
Villages where there are infections. Number of infections in each. Probable source.
Explanation of why facilities are closed in villages where there are no infections.
Discussion of amenities funds collection during shut down.
Doctors who are prescribing Hydroxychloroquine/Z-Pack.
Is Remdesivir being used?
What treatments are working?
Is there antibody testing?
List of all local hospitals and status of Wuhan Flu patients (Admitted, recovered, died)
What are criteria for reopening pools, racquet sports, softball, bocce, etc.?
What's the plan?
I apologize if some of this has been concretely published and I've missed it. But these are the questions that have been on my mind.

As to your second question, why facilities are closed in villages with no infections... All facilities are open to all Villagers, no matter where they live. So if my pool is closed, I'd just go to your pool and possibly spread infection there. Or rec centers, tennis courts, or pickleball courts. The squares--which ones get to stay open, and who is going to keep my infected village away?

Just WHO do you direct these criticisms to? The developers? The commissioners? The hospital?
Do you think anyone on this earth knows "concrete" answers about Covid-19??? It was first identified in November over in China. We know people over 65 are most at risk and that people over 80, 14% of all people who contract it are dying. The antibody tests have no restrictions so they are being sold without verifications from the authorities and now all of them are suspect.
When someone, anyone, is able to get valid data from "enough" people and when we can see how the virus runs it's course, whether it wanes in the summer like some similar viruses do, if when people are allowed to swim in the pools and use the rec centers if it again escalates, if the somewhat universally accepted information that it is far more infectious than the yearly flu is correct.
I think every living soul is anxious to see hard data. And everyone is blaming anything they can think to blame. And some wouldn't believe hard data if it hit them in the face.
We have a lot of theories. We have a lot of conjecture. We have a lot of rumors. We have a lot of ugly meanness.
There isn't much else to do but to "wait. wait. wait".
We have a lot of misplaced blame and a lot of unanswered questions. I certainly do not see the lack of answers as "The Villages" fault.

Here are some things we'd like to know:
Villages where there are infections. Number of infections in each. Probable source.
The data doesn't appear to be broken down in that fashion, but I'll answer it anyway. There are 153 positive cases in ALL of Sumter county, so in all likelihood, YOUR village has ZERO cases, at most 1 or 2. No idea how that info helps you.
Explanation of why facilities are closed in villages where there are no infections.
Easy. People are not confined to their "own" village
Discussion of amenities funds collection during shut down.
Reasonable question, but the facilities still have to be maintained. Rec centers need to be cleaned, they're planting flowers as usual, etc. Most of the cost has nothing to do with how many people are utilizing the amenities
Doctors who are prescribing Hydroxychloroquine/Z-Pack.
Is Remdesivir being used?
What treatments are working?
Is there antibody testing?
List of all local hospitals and status of Wuhan Flu patients (Admitted, recovered, died)
Unless you actually contract the virus, all those questions are irrelevant.
What are criteria for reopening pools, racquet sports, softball, bocce, etc.?
What's the plan?
Great question, but I'm not sure anything has been decided yet
I apologize if some of this has been concretely published and I've missed it. But these are the questions that have been on my mind.
That's quite a mixed bag of great questions and irrelevant ones. But probably no one knows all the answers.

If you go to the Florida state website Home | Florida Department of Health COVID-19 Outbreak (https://floridahealthcovid19.gov/#latest-stats) you can find some of your answers. Of the 153 cases in Sumter, 68 are in the Sumter county part of the Villages. Another 7 are in the Lake county part of the Villages. Using the dashboard you can find how many cases there are in your zip code.
However, these are all the cases since the outbreak started. A week ago, when Sumter county had 110 cases the Sun reported that 66 of those cases had already recovered. So we definitely have less than 153 active cases in Sumter county.
As for your village, if you are up on your villages and your activities emails you will likely be informed of any cases in your village or activities. If no one you are in contact with told you that you may have been infected and need to quarantine you probably have not had contact with those folks in your village.
I admit, I would absolutely love it if they reported recovered numbers every day on the front page.

None of these answers are available thru Google for TV.
You say "scientists are not calling it the Wuhan Flu out of respect."
The convention for naming outbreaks is to name them after the place they started. Zika, West Nile, Lyme, and Ebola are all places. The World Health Organization changed the name Wuhan to Covid-19 after pressure from China and the media has helped them spread the name. Scientists know the outbreak started in China because there are forensic analyses that show its travel over time. For example, scientists have determined that syphillis started in native North American tribes and then traveled to Europe - not the other way around (The Columbian hypothesis).
Who are we respecting if we call it Covid? The people who poisoned us?

JackRussell, you are not entitled to as you insisted "everything". HIPAA [not HIPPA] does not allow anyone to give you the name of a COVID positive person. It does not allow you to know their address or to know whom they got it from or whom they may have spread it to.
The people doing the contact tracing for the Health Department do not get this information. If you are notified it will, if possible, be by phone. You will be told you were identified as being in close contact with a COVID positive individual on a specific date. You will not be told the person even if it is your spouse as the caller does not know the name. You will not be told a location of your exposure. You will be told what the symptoms are which would make you eligible for testing by the county. If you are well you do not qualify. You will be told to self-quarantine for 14 days from your exposure date. You will be contacted by text or phone daily to see if your condition has changed.
If you want to know where you can get remdesivir, you might want to check Google. You can't get it unless you are hospitalized in a study. It is not a drug being sold anywhere for anything. It is entirely experimental.
If you want to know who will give you hydroxychloroquine, ask your doctor. You might want to read some recent data on whether these drugs are working or failing in studies.
If you want to learn about antibody testing, again Google it. Stop demanding you be informed and inform yourself. There are people even on this website who post about these issues.
While you are using Google to educate yourself, you may wish to unlearn some items you posted with such certainty.
The WHO, which I would guess you presently dislike, never as in NEVER called COVID the Wuhan virus nor did it cave to Chinese pressure in assigning a name. You might use Google to find the WHO's rules for the naming of new diseases issued in 2015.
The World Health Organization (WHO),..has identified best practices for the naming of new human diseases, with the aim to minimize unnecessary negative impact of disease names on trade, travel, tourism or animal welfare, and avoid causing offence to any cultural, social, national, regional, professional or ethnic groups
But you did make me smile, and I thank you
Scientists know the outbreak started in China because there are forensic analyses that show its travel over time. For example, scientists have determined that syphillis started in native North American tribes and then traveled to Europe - not the other way around (The Columbian hypothesis).
See the first sentence is a fact, it started in China. The second is, as you admitted, a hypothesis not at fact. The evidence is mixed and controversial on the origin of syphilis. [Not syphillis which I admit is tricky to spell correctly, but should be when you are claiming some wisdom on the disease itself]
While you are working on your spelling, which being an educated person who can make decisions if you just knew every painful detail..
Here are a couple more things you can learn from Google
Z-Pack is wrong. Z-Pak is correct
Dr. Birks probably exists, but I believe you mean Dr. Birx. These are painful details.

It is not quite accurate that there are no restrictions on antibody tests being sold. The FDA announced that it would allow the manufacture and sale of tests for COVID on an emergency basis (https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/emergency-situations-medical-devices/emergency-use-authorizations#coronavirus2019), not requiring the rigorous approval process usually demanded. The manufacturer must still request FDA approval and submit extensive documentation of the test procedure and quality. If the FDA is satisfied with the application then it approves the test on a temporary basis which will terminate when the emergency is over.
HERE (https://www.fda.gov/media/136622/download) is an example of the FDA granting emergency approval for a blood antibody testing device. You will see it is very specific on what criteria were met by the manufacturer to satisfy the FDA and what ongoing regulations and compliance are required.

what else is there tv should do ? who in tv should do it ? the real estate brokers ? the local radio station ? the daily newspaper ? what ? who ? when ? why ? where ?
don't adults usually inform themselves ?

Syphilis seem to appear in Europe about 1495. However, there is controversy about whether it existed before then. Every European country named it after another country which it blamed, the French disease, the Neapolitan disease, the Polish disease, etc. so naming a disease after where people thought it originated is very common throughout history. If it was distributed from Native Americans to Europeans, it would seem like justice, considering the Europeans wiped out Native American with small pox and other diseases they had no immunities to. This virus CAME FROM CHINA. Just a fact, not racism. Can call it the China virus but SARS came from there too.

This virus is new and the professionals are still trying to figure it out. When/if they do I am sure it will be published. I have not felt the need to know the answers to all your questions, they have not even occurred to me. The news which I fell is important is what to do to prevent the virus from spreading. I have been monitoring the website floridadisaster. I like it because it drills down and provides demographics by county. You can see if the person affected was male or female, their age, if they traveled, etc. Because I have lots of time on my hands I decided to plot the number of new cases each day for Sumter, Marion, and Lady Lake counties as well as The Villages on a graph to see if there was a pattern or any “curve”. Interestingly, I found no trends or even a curve. The number of reported cases each day appears to go up and down randomly. Overall though, the number of reported cases each day in The Villages appeared to be the most consistent with the least variation. Likewise, with the exception of a few days of high activity since tracking this, the number of new cases in The Villages is relatively low (less than 5 per day and lately only 1-2 per day). In comparison, Sumter county had a huge spike most recently of 22 cases in a single day, all men, avg. age 55. So, I found this data interesting and of course I realize the data on this website may have many errors, but it does provide a point of reference. So, if you are interested in statistics like me, you can go to this website and check out the data, and perhaps you will see what I do... measures you are taking in The Villages appear to be working as the number of new cases each day remains relatively low. You are all doing a great job!!

I agree. And also a new study shows that hydro chloroquine has more deaths for people on ventilators than just normal procedures.

Societies under stress crack at their weakest points.

I don't believe I expressed an opinion in my reply.

I'm eager to see some of the studies of hydroxychloroquine being conducted now in New York.

Those numbers are county numbers. You'll see my interest was in specifics from the Villages government regarding the state of disease on TV. I don't think those numbers are being publicized, the location of disease certainly isn't, we are being treated rudely.

I saw that. It was very thin on details but it was good to finally see something. It's a start!

You're opposed to my blaming China for allowing (actually helping) the virus to spread, but you believe your own personal attacks on me are okay? That's interesting.

Oh no! I have heard repeatedly, on TV almost daily, this is a wonder drug.
