It is what you can expect with no enforcement.
Courage to put up a sign. No courage to ask violators to mask up or leave! And the violators know it.

Sign on door says no entry without mask.

The sign does not say people had to keep their mask on once they were in the store.

Maybe they wore a mask when they entered the store and then took it off.

Basically you vented fine however, it is history.

Next week will be a tough week for some however, this will soon be over.

Try to look on the bright side.

That’s like saying you need to put on a football helmet to get in the game then take it off once you’re in. Really?

Was in Fresh Market yesterday afternoon and it was pretty busy. Everyone was wearing a mask and keeping social distance. The meat line was long probably due to the worry of so many meat processing plants closing. That got me in there.

If we thought it was serious we might wonder about the thinking process!

I like the football helmet example.....the poster was also remaining polite!

No more of a violation than the sign that states “ service dogs only” and those who just bring in their pet.

I was there mid-day yesterday (Wed.)...everyone had on masks and the meat line was a long one. I didn't know of meat plants closing--I was just there as I usually am. I won't get scared or freaked because of something I can't control. One thing I did notice with the people though was---social distancing wasn't especially happening. So it's April 23--almost the 24th---we'll just keep plugging along. Me---I'm going to go outdoors tomorrow and get some U-V and fresh air. Oh--I'll have my mask along too.

You betcha, can’t wait to see the tan lines on the poolies. Reminds me of the commercial with the couple laughing at each other over their tan lines on their faces. Somehow wearing a mask and being in a pool just don’t jive with me, kinda like getting a haircut with a mask on. I guess that would be okay if u only wanted the top of ur hair done.

Fresh Market or any other store can not require you to do anything unless you are an employee. The only thing they can do is deny you entry as that is their right to refuse service.

I watched a video which showed, via infrared light, how far droplets travel while an unmasked person is talking. The amount of droplets spewed from the mouth is huge when viewing via ultra violet light.

Then the person's mouth was covered with a cotton home made mask. The amount of droplets through the mask was practically none. What a huge difference and an excellent visual as to why wearing a mask protects others, not the wearer of the mask..

My guess is you don't care to protect others. Gee, thanks a lot. NOT!!!

I love Talk of The Villages just because of the entertainment. The helmet analogy was great. The person who won't wear a mask and will not patronize the store that has the sign up asking for a mask is the same person who goes through the express checkout with more than 10 items simply because it is all about him/her and there is no one else to be concerned with.

I think most of you are too harsh. Maybe they were illiterate and couldn't read the signs. I was in a Walmart yesterday. They have small signs on the entrance to every other aisle saying Do Not Enter. They have arrows pointed in the direction that customers should be following. Of course in every aisle there were people going in the wrong direction without masks and passing within inches of each other. Do you think I criticized these individuals. Of course not. Not only could they probably not be able to read but imagine the complexity of figuring out what an arrow means. Oh I forgot maybe it's poor eyesight.

I don't believe anyone said that swimmers should wear masks. That is just silly. Pool walkers, on the other hand, can wear masks along with their sun glasses and sun hats.

I Don’t think people are that dumb/smart but there are a lot of people who don’t own a mask and thought management wants my business and it’s unlikely they will ask me to leave. Guess what? They were correct. However, next time they may stop you at the door and sell you a mask at an inflated price or if you don’t get a mask you can just stay home and order your items and have them delivered to your house. I see more and more people with masks everyday. I believe it’s time for everybody to wear a mask in public and this should be enforced. And as my wife will tell you, I don’t like to be told by government what to do for my own safety but this isn’t about me this is about you.

All I can say is the people who disregards these safety precautions are slow minded or our biggest cause for spreading this virus. Just don’t do what you see, do what your asked to do & do what you’re kindly asked to do. The people that can’t put a mask on for a few mins. to stay safe are just as bad as China the one who was supposed to give this virus to us. These people just want to send you a message, “No one is going to tell me what to do”. Just keep yourself safe!

There IS something to be said for your argument of never again returning to a place that puts up a sign asking you to please give up a tiny, itsy-bitsy morsel of your freedom. However, imho, your response is a psychological response to a reasonable request.

Just to clarify, here is more recent guidance on masks from the Surgeon General and the CDC.

"U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams explained the CDC began advising that symptomatic people wear face masks at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Then as science showed that the virus could manifest in people as presymptomatic and asymptomatic, the organization expanded its guidance that all people wear face coverings when outside the home."

Store policy may or may not be enforced, but customers are needed and if the store wants to lose customers then make a policy which is restrictive of personal choice. I am not saying it is safe to not wear a mask but everyone has the freedom of choice to do so or not. IF I am at a greater risk because someone does not wear a mask then that is the price of freedom. I spent a year in southeast asia fighting a war for their freedom of choice and I respect that no matter how unsafe to themselves and stupid it may be I respect their choice.. I can take precautions against anyone who does not wear a mask and that is my choice. Let's allow personal freedom to choose shall we ....if the store wishes to enforce that policy then we can choose not to shop there too.

If they choose to possibly kill someone besides themselves I believe that removes freedom of their choice. If they choose to kill themselves by smoking or jumping off a bridge that is THEIR freedom of choice and doesn't possibly affect someone else. Using your analogy anyone can choose to kill someone because they have freedom of choice and I don't consider THAT (freedom to kill) "the price of freedom." Speech, religion ... yes.

While I agree with you the CDC is actually a recommendation:

QUOTED: CDC continues to study the spread and effects of the novel coronavirus across the United States. We now know from recent studies (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/cloth-face-cover.html?mod=article_inline#studies) that a significant portion of individuals with coronavirus lack symptoms (“asymptomatic”) and that even those who eventually develop symptoms (“pre-symptomatic”) can transmit the virus to others before showing symptoms. This means that the virus can spread between people interacting in close proximity—for example, speaking, coughing, or sneezing—even if those people are not exhibiting symptoms. In light of this new evidence, CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies) especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.

Recommendation Regarding the Use of Cloth Face Coverings | CDC (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/cloth-face-cover.html?mod=article_inline)

Pretty sure it said required, or must.

It was off-putting when I walked in, started to walk around a customer who had stopped to examine some bouquets near the entry, and two big beefy guys came barreling through behind me, said "excuse me" and nudged me on their way between me and the other customer. No mask. They went briskly through the store, not caring at ALL about social distancing. At one point one of the two was on the phone saying that "yeah people are complaining that we're not wearing masks." So it's not like they didn't know they were being a*****es. They knew they were, and they just flat out didn't care.

These are the people who make me feel that this state, this community, this country is not even ALMOST ready to open up yet.

Honestly, you can't make this stuff up. We all agree that if you are within 6 feet of a person who sneezes you can get the virus..If you are within 27 feet of someone who sneezes either to the left or right you can catch the Virus. These are not guesses but received world wide by the experts. Wearing the mask's is not to protect you..it is meant to protect the other person IF YOU SNEEZE OR COUGH. If we go out and see someone without a mask we assume they don't give a damn about us or are medically challenged when it comes to being able to understand what they read IF THEY READ? If they observed the South Korean's they would see they all wear Mask's and have one of the lowest residents population with the Virus. That is not an accident!! Oh well, I know trying to convince the the naysayers is a waste of my energy but what the heck give it a try. The real question is "Why don't you care about the other person?":ohdear:

Went to Fresh Mkt, just to buy some prime steaks--an amazing experience--they have spaces marked in front of the meat counter--real good exception a couple tried to crowd the lady to my right, told them what the spaces meant--they were not happy--but the best was , when they asked the butcher "what does grass fed mean"--unbelievable , probably the first time they ever shopped for meat !!

Honestly, can't wait for the prime counter @ Sam's to reopen--$17.00 for 10 oz precut ribeyes--is a ripoff--they're to thin to properly cook--they got me now, the only show in town

I’m glad people ignored it. You have no right to push your paranoia onto other people. This thing has gone beyond ridiculous!

Thank you for not getting close to cautious folks. Telling us that you are inconsiderate and willing to put others in possible jeopardy to satisfy your own prejudice is appreciated.

Strange that you count the people when you are shopping.
Not so strange to notice when your safety is jeopardized.

I have been there too but everyone was wearing a mask while I was there. They are the only store requiring this which I like. If you see someone without either say something to them or an employee

Same for Trader Joes ..... we were up in Gainesville today and had to wait in line to get in around 3PM. Masks for customers NOT required but they also limited # of customers. It was actually shorter and faster to get there vs. going to the highly infected Orlando area.

TJs in Gainesville has had this policy in place since March. All of Gainesville has same policy. Grocery, Target, all businesses. Gainesville took safety to a higher level from day one. Shop there every week
