Many renters and snowbirds will need to travel home to the north. Looking for comments and recommendations from folks who recently made the trip.
Here are some subjects for discussion.
Are gas stations ,rest areas and restaurants open?
Did you overnight in a hotel or sleep in the car?
How was the traffic?
Any issues crossing state borders?
Do you recommend traveling or should we stay in The Villages?
Thank you for your help.

Leaving soon for Ohio, I’m interested in knowing can we travel freely from state to state without being stopped by police. I’m assuming yes, but I don’t know for sure. Anyone know?

Pack a cooler with sandwiches or cold cuts and snacks drinks
That way you won't have to worry

I read last week that South Carolina hotels are not allowed to board anyone with a NY, NJ or CT driver license. I don't know if that has since changed.

Just had three of our friends drive back to PA, their flight kept getting cancelled. They drove straight through since there were three of them and encountered no issues. They could get fuel, packed a cooler, had limited car traffic but either had or they finally got to see a whole bunch of trucks. I do understand that Delaware is doing some border checks to stop those that are going there to buy booze from States that have shut down liquor sales. As for staying here or traveling, I would check the weather and decide where you would prefer to be.....they are regretting going back, comparitively they are cold :)

Lot of price gouging at gas stations. Pack a cooler with sandwiches. Very little open except gas station convenience stores. No Starbucks open, not even for drive throughs. You can get a take out from Waffle House, but whats the fun in that. No road check points. Stay away from hotels like Red Roof Inn, where towels have skid marks.
