Several people have referenced an article in the WSJ regarding the coming surge of Covid-19 cases in the villages, so I decided to post a daily update on the surge. Since there is no separate reporting for the Villages specifically, I decided to combine the numbers from the 3 counties that include portions of the villages, as reported by the Daily Sun. It's not perfect, but it’s a pretty good representation of the overall trends in our part of central Florida.
Update for April 26, 2020
Tri-county area:
Total cases: 540
New cases: 6 - up 1.11%
% of population diagnosed with C-19: 0.062%
Fatalities: 26
New: 0
Total fatalities as a % of total population: 0.003%
Sumter county:
Total cases: 169
New cases: 2
% of population diagnosed with C-19: 0.02%
Total fatalities: 12
New fatalities: 0
Total fatalities as a % of the population: 0.001%

I think I saw there were 44 cases in Sumter that were attributed to Long Term Care/Nursing Home and prison/penitentiary facilities, so those were not in the mainstream of the general population

Thanks for doing this....it'll be a great way to monitor how the virus continues to spread now that things are about to begin opening up a little in TV
let's hope that the numbers remain low

I think you should add another statistic - the number of people tested. To date, there have only been 1738 people tested in Sumter County. I think that's very low. You're not going to get a realistic representation of the number of COVID 19 cases there are if you're not testing people.
