Dr. Ezike: Swimming Pools Are Not Safe To Use During Coronavirus Pandemic Because Of ‘Fecal Shedding’ (https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/dr-ezike-swimming-pools-are-not-safe-to-use-during-coronavirus-pandemic-because-of-fecal-shedding/ar-BB136OEE)

CDC says:

There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.

There is going to be “fecal shedding” in swimming pools whether or not there is a corona virus pandemic.

Diluted by a 20,000 gallons of chlorinated water..

I'd be (am) much more concerned about public restrooms.

Swimming pools have been said to always be safe due to the chlorine. You should know by now that 90% of news is false so why do you continue to believe everything? How about you just bubble wrap yourself and live in a cave? Thats the only way to avoud germs

A study has found the coronavirus in pollution particles. I don't have a link to that study to add. Other studies have shown the infection rate is at least 25% higher than the data shows. I don't have links to for this either. I'm also not doctor or scientist.

I plan on going to the pool when they open but I won't go under the water. I'll cool off by going in to chest height and then use the pool shower to rinse off. The UV rays will hopefully kill what the chlorine doesn't kill. I do not had any data to support my plan and I don't recommend anyone injecting or inhaling chlorine or using UV light inside their body.

The obvious solution, stop watching CNN, MSNBC, PBS, ABC, NBC, see a common thread here? Their job is to get you to watch more fluff. I'm a doctor, I'm on TV listen to me! BS! most likely there's more danger going into the ocean with all the crap that gets thrown into that body of water

we don't even think about swimming in a fresh water lake or pond down here.....aside from the quality of the water itself, there's a gator population in every one of them

Why is it "fluff" when the Illinois Department of Public Health Director explains why "swimming pools should not be opened for now".
She said that there were also "...a myriad of reasons, that wouldn’t be conducive to promoting social distancing and decreasing community spread".

:faint: So again logical thought processes are blunted. If this is so bad then it would have to be multiplied by thousands of times by taking a bath. Fecal is fecal whether yours or someone else and guarantee there is far less chemicals in bath water than in a swimming pool. Pools are cleaned on a daily basis doubt that the majority of people clean their bathtubs or showers daily.

Should is not a very scientific word nor does it give one the sense of obsolete security. Keep the pools closed for the sake of all of the residence. You don't need to get into a public bath tub right now and exchange body fluids and germs.

Salt water pools are chlorinated via the salt, since half the construction of a salt is chlorine.

Salt is Sodium Chloride. In water, it breaks apart into sodium and chlorine ions. Thus, a salt water pool is also disinfected with chlorine. The difference is that the chlorine is not poured into the pool as a liquid. It’s nowhere near as salty as sea water, though.

Who is this Doctor??????????

“Illinois Department of Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike.” She’s from Nigeria, or her mother is. She has a degree in Chemistry from Harvard and got her MD from UC San Diego. There are definitely pools with lots of little kids in Chicago I would avoid because of “fecal shedding”, but I wouldn’t avoid pools in The Villages because of that. After all, there is no shortage of toilet paper!

She may be right to see locker rooms and toilets in locker rooms as a larger potential hazard. For extra safety, keep six feet away from people in the pools and just talk louder. Also, the pools that don’t allow children might be a little safer. But I think the water is safe. It’s probably safe enough to drink.

Based on that philosophy, you probably should not take a bath or shower either. If you say isolated and sterile, your natural immunities are going to suffer and when you do decide that you have been suppressed enough by the government and venture out, you are going to puck up every bug out there because your system will have become immune deficient.
