We had Home Depot do the counters. We purchased quartz counter top at a good sale price. The money savings was not worth it! They use a an independent multi-state contractor called Crew2. It took them three weeks to get the counter cut correctly. They broke the first one on delivery. They re-cut two more that were still cut out wrong around the sink. We had a different installation crew come to the house each time. They got it mostly correct the fourth time. We wanted zero reveal. Ended up with negative reveal but we were so frustrated we let it go.
The local store on 441 Lady Lake could care less once they made the sale. We called them numerous times. Spoke to Michelle our salesperson who said we would get a call back. Never heard a word back from them.
What a nightmare.

I’d recommend doing it yourself, there’s plenty of bored talented villagers looking to keep busy, Home Depot and Lowe’s uses subcontractors some are okay but most are terrible. I gutted my CYV Kitchen and went to the granite shop on Rolling Acres for my granite. Ordered my new cabinets all with soft close hinges From sunshine cabinetry in Orlando.the cabinets I had put together before I picked them up. Here’s a Breakdown of the cost.
10 cabinets assembled 2.0000
Granite in kitchen including both bathrooms with new sinks in baths 2700
Kitchen appliances 5200.
Kitchen sink disposal sink lights door frames and baseboards 600.
This remodel would’ve run 42-47 k I did all installation except the granite.
And I was under 10500.
I’ve only heard good things about Docs restoration if your not interested in doing it yourself.:ho:

From reading this board for ten years, from memory two places stand out. First is Ultimate Granite. They had a granite yard in Wildwood until about 6 years ago, then moved to Rolling Acres Rd to have more room. They are the place that other installers buy from. They now have their own installers and advertise in the Sun weekly and every review I've read on here, people have been very happy and their prices seem to be the best.

The other is Duncan Stone out of Tavares the other side of the Leesburg Airport. I can't count the number of times posters have complimented their work.

We had the same nightmare with Home Depot. I MIGHT buy a plant from them but that's it. The 'salesperson' was not experienced in the kitchen remodel area however spoke like she was an expert. NEVER again...

OK to be clear this is not just replacing my countertops. I am looking at removing part of the peninsula and putting in an island. I need a general contractor as I do not want to take any of the responsibility on. Home Depot and Lowe’s would not be in the mix. Looking specifically for a good General Contractor. Thanks.

The most obvious choice is the one who advertises in the Sun paper almost everyday and have probably been used by more than any other, that's Doc's Restorations. I got a new neighbor last year and before he moved in, he had everything redone, and Doc's did a great deal of the work. He had new wood-look tile floors, new cabinets, appliances, granite, and of course the other stuff like enclosing the lanai, etc. The only negative I can say that's been mentioned on this website, is their prices are in the middle to high end, but the work is top-notch.

Another name mentioned a lot and with good marks, is Central Florida Kitchen & Baths.

Another with good reviews on this website is D&D Construction.

I can tell for sure, whoever you chose, before ever signing anything, do a search on this website. If you search Wildwood Kitchen & Bath or Leesburg Kitchen & Bath, you would never call them.

Relatives who used HD for a new kitchen were also disappointed with their granite countertops. The HD granite countertops were only 3/4” thick rather than the industry standard 1-1/4”. They were so unhappy that a few years later they replaced them.

Did you have a consultation with Doc's? I'm going to call them tomorrow. What did you think?

Doc's has done two jobs for us. 100% satisfied both times.
They may not be the cheapest, but I didn't have to loan their guys any tools, either time.

I totaly agree. Had a very bad experience with Wildwood Kitchen and Bath that ended up in small claims court. 90 days later, a demand letter, and a judgement lein I got my money and hired someone else to repair everything they screwed up.

Don't know if you've already made your decision but we just used Shamrock Construction and they were great! The price was reasonable, the owner, Danny, is great and his workers are a joy. 321-299-2602. We love our new kitchen!

We're wondering if standard Villages cabinets can take the weight of quartz or granite countertops. Do they need to be reinforced? Ours is a Corpus Christi model, 2 BR ranch in Caroline.
