Well the traffic signs are up that SR44 will be closing at night starting on May 4th and the crews are working this morning to put the trucks under the bridge in preparation for the move. So Monday or maybe Tuesday evening it looks like the move may happen.
I plan on live streaming an elevated view of the move when it happens. The link for the live streaming is below. You'll also be able to go direct to my YouTube page to access the feed.
Gold Wingnut Live Stream - Chitty Chatty Bridge Move - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSo2ryYtJMOtYArrjDHj8Ag/live)
If this one goes like the Brownwood bridge move the entire move will take about 15-20 minutes to put the bridge in place. After the move is complete I'll post a time-lapse view of the move on YouTube.
If the move doesn't happen tomorrow evening I'll reschedule the feed for the next day and repeat as necessary until the move occurs. (Second hand information this morning is telling me Thursday for the move, but I'll keep a watch every day.)

Just out of curiosity, what is the law pertaining to flying a drone at night?

Just out of curiosity, what is the law pertaining to flying a drone at night?
Here are the details, recreation rules are slightly different. Night flying is covered in 14CFR107.29 and .205.

Priceless. Comparing me to a preacher. That’s rich.
So, back to question. Just so I’m clear. You’re allowed to fly at night?
And I’m also trying to figure out how you are able to fly over people and traffic. That’s all.
Goldwingnut

Huh? So you’re allowed to fly at night?
And I’m just trying figure out how you are able to fly over people and traffic. That’s all. Maybe you’re exempt.
Where did I say I was flying for this?
I don't fly over people unless they are directly and actively involved in the activity and they are fully aware of the risks. I also don't fly over moving vehicles. Per 14CFR107.39.
Don't let what you see in the videos be your only evidence. The camera angle and altitude put objects a lot farther from the aircraft than they appear and the extensive editing I do changes the perspective of where objects are in relation to the aircraft. The angles for direction of travel also affect what is actually below the aircraft as compared to what is in the video.

What Drone/Cam do you use? I am looking at the new DJI Mavic Air 2 Fly More.
Opinion?
I'm still uncertain of the MA2 mainly because the software it uses - DJI Fly. The only other one using it is the Mavic Mini (which I have). All the rest of the DJI models use DJI Go4 to fly. The feature set on Fly is very very limited as compared to Go4 which is the concern. The aircraft itself, from what I am reading and other reviews, seems pretty good and has some great advances that everyone hopes to see on the Mavic 3 and/or Phantom 5.
Right now DJI has not released an SDK or the API calls for the Fly software so there is no 3rd party Apps that can integrate with the MM or MA2. This is a huge sort fall because of the other great flying Apps that are available like Litchi and DroneLink.
For now, I would wait to see how it shakes out in the market and also see what's coming next, a lot of rumors are flying about the Mavic 3 Pro for this summer.
I have 2 DJI Phantom 4 Pros, a DJI Mavic Pro with the NoLimitDronz hack installed, a DJI Mavic Mini, a DJI Tello, and a DJI Osmo Pocket. For the bridge move I will be using one of the P4Ps from an elevated position to do the live streaming.

I believe IMHO that the full completion of this bridge and the ramps thereto will be completed within the month. The speed with which Chitty Chatty and Bradford are being completed coupled with the current health crisis will necessitate a grand marketing event which the opening of this bridge will provide.

Yes, we’re still disconnected further south. All the residents in Fenney, McClure, DeSoto, Marsh Bend, Linden and Monarch Grove still have no golf cart access to the rest of The Villages or other facilities. Furthermore, it’s disappointing that while building of more homes has not stopped during the pandemic, the shopping area at Everglades is only now showing signs of any construction! Not what was promised to us before our home purchase.

Unless they had a commitment to a retail, why build. Look at the shopping plaza behind Miller’s, that the major retailer dropped out. Nice looking Empty Plaza

Don takes his responsibility as a CDD 10 Supervisor and a member of the Project Wide Advisory Committee very seriously. His research and exposure to the processes, division of authority and responsibility between TV and County and his past experiences make him a significant asset, not only the CDD 10 but to all in the Villages. No business is going to build/lease retail space, stock it with merchandise and hire employees to man the store until there is enough population living in the area to generate sufficient sales for the business to make a profit. Businesses have to make a profit in order to stay in business, that's the first lesson in Business 101.

I don’t interpret that as a “promise” . I read that to mean an “expectation” , nothing more and nothing less......
No one has a crystal ball . No one could have predicted the current pandemic which has effected all phases of life and living .
Bottom line is that connectivity will be completed when it’s completed.

Obviously this is not happening tonight.
I went by at about 5 PM and the bridge has been raised about 10 ft in preparation for the jacks to be placed on the trucks under the bridge. This allows lifting to remove the current ground supports and lifting into place over the roadway. The jacks are still sitting to the side.
Some second hand information I received earlier today was that it would be Thursday for the move. I'll keep checking every day. The real indicator is when the road signs change to "Road closed at 9:00PM tonight".

Doubtful, there will be some fool who tries to cross before it's open. The Brownwood bridge has already had people trying to walk across it. When the Water Lily bridge goes over I'm sure they're going to have lots of problems stopping people for trying to cross.
I'm not a naysayer or a gloom and doom type of person, this is just the result of my observations over the last 6 years of the acts of some of the people that have come to live here. If the sign says "Wet Paint" you're guaranteed to have hand prints on it in an hour.

I wonder how long it will sit with no ramps built up to it and no actual connection to paths going south, especially going all the way south and over the turnpike. But then, I'm still wondering the same about the bridge by Brownwood. I'm looking forward to both because I think they (especially the Brownwood bridge) will allow for some scenic golf cart and bicycle rides south.
I know I could do southern trips on my bicycle but I've gotten so I do NOT like riding out in car traffic.Golf cart traffic on the multi-modal paths is scary enough but cars can and do go a LOT faster and are a LOT heavier.

Why does anyone who does not live there care? Many of us don't care about the bridges. We love living in our wonderful community. We understand that bridges allow traffic both ways. That's what I told the Morses the last time I had dinner with them. "Slow down, take your time", I said.
People need to be concerned about things that actually affects them. Geez, somepeople like to go find something to complain about.

MANY, many of the Villagers are what I would call “Professional Whiners” ...... if they’re not complaining about a “rebate” on amenity fees , it’s complaining about dogs pooping at the postal stations , or complaining about the pools not open , or complaining about what side of the multimodal path we should be walking on ....... <taking a breath >..... or complaining about the pickleball courses closed Or complaining about the condition of the golf courses or someone not wearing a mask or about the modest tax increase while not taking into consideration that the tax rate had not increased in 14 years or that they can’t get a tee time this week or ......
please feel free to fill in the rest of the blanks ......I’m sure I’ve missed another dozen or so complaints...... ;)

When’s it happening?

Here's an update video on the bridge movement. Not happening Tuesday, a reliable source tells me Thursday night, but that could be a red herring and they may be moving it Wednesday.

Sorry I’m sitting in the PWAC meeting reviewing $90,000,000+ In budgets and unable to start the video stream. These budgets have a higher priority. As soon as I can get there I’ll start streaming.

And for 15 years I have been told nothing good happens after 9 PM in The VIllages. That was awesome.

It’s a shame after the delay in starting from the advertised time, they stopped the camera/video feed when it was ready to be hoisted and placed. It’s not like I had a baseball game to watch, after- all, and the the “pace of play” was similar. Would have liked to watch the end of the game.

Maybe they realized it was after 9PM and had to stop. :)

Good choice. And thank you for serving our community. I have attended many PWAC meetings and generally agree with every decision made. We (and our money) are well taken care of.

Such great news. I’m sure all the folks in Fenny and Marsh Bend are over joyed to know their bridge and daily convenience center which were promised to be open in January 2020 when they bought have no announced open and now CC can have fully connectivity and access to conveniences via golf cart before them. As the saying goes - ”Something smells in Denmark and it’s not the cheese”. All was PROMISED for January 2020.
Not so great for Chitty Chatty, they have no access to any of the 5 executive courses down here, Everglades, the Pitch & Putt, Putt & Play, RC boat and car racing, nothing, they can't get across the turnpike, they have no choice but to go north to do anything CC has no amenities other than their neighborhood pool. Another note is you cannot come down here from the north on a golf car and go anywhere other than Chitty Chatty.

So not true!
Once they finally build and/or finish the ramps on both side of the CCB, those folks will have the distinct pleasure of riding down into the soon to be finished village of Bradford then the soon to be finished village of St. Catherine (I thinks that's the name but know that it'll be corrected very quickly if I'm wrong!) then they can park their golf carts and watch the sunset over the turnpike looking right over at the everglades recreation center, waving to their friends enjoying the sunset on the other side of the turnpike!

I guess us "northerners" will have to get a large capacity gas tank for our golf carts.......next? Rest areas with rest rooms and food courts on the MMP.

That might not be as silly as it initially sounds.
If a location just north of the turnpike bridge next to the MMP (also accessible with a pull-off for cars?) was found to put up a small building, with lots of shaded tables/trees and had drinks, ice cream, coffee, baked goods, etc. were to be put up, it might actually do a good business for those making that long haul.

As one of the “Fenney Folks”, the connectivity not happening exactly first thing 2020 doesn’t bother me as much as it seems to bother everyone else not living below 44. It is happening. Patience is a virtue.

As a defender of all negativity south of 44 I'm surprised that you are pointing out the negatives of a neighboring Village.
