That was published through several outlets before they opened....you missed it? The purpose was to allow people a place to go read (change of scenery), sit on porch and get some air, use the wifi and meet friends (keeping social distancing). Doesn't always need to be a structured event to take advantage of the place.

I wouldn't have said it exactly that way but we agree entirely. My wife and stopped at Eisenhower to see what we might be able to do there and basically were told "nothing."

Billiards is open if you have your own cue stick. Do you have to also use your own balls because playing with someone else's balls can get you infected. You never know who handled them last.

Rec center balls. One hour per session. Balls cleaned after each session. Chalk available to check out at front desk. Must wear mask is my understanding.

My group has played last couple days, so I guess I need to buy a stick. :)

Assuming you are talking about billiard balls, they have 3 sets on the tables. Only 3 tables can be used, only 10 people can be in the room, and you can only play for 1 hour. Also, you need to bring your own pool cue and bridge, and I think you need to check out a piece of chalk. And, you must wear a mask at all times while in the building.

If you were not referring to billiard balls, then I would wash them and your hands before playing.

Everyone moved here because of the lifestyle. People also like the idea that there are rules that are monitored , mostly by trolls. It is terrible when we the rules are not what they want.

The rec centers were opened so that the first step could be taken. Opening the pools. More to come later. Everything seems logical and properly cautious to me.

Open all of the pools. Doesn’t make sense for the same amount of people to use the less pools. Put some of those unemployed people back to work And the people that wish to swim back in the pools according to the CDC guidelines of course.

Had you ever once thought...………….Nope, don't want time out.

It seems like many folks are acting like "only" children.

I am not for "big" government, too many rules etc, but these my friends are unusual times calling for unusual measures.

All of these restrictions are temporary...…. until there are proven remedies to stop this virus, until we know if the virus is acting like seasonal flu and waning in the summer, until we figure it all out.

The one piece of evidence that appears widely accepted is that the group with the highest mortality are those over 60. That would be us who live here and use the rec centers.

I believe most people no matter whose political blog they read, agree that slow and steady wins the race.

OR.....we will see Darwin's Theory tested big time.

JoMar, that is a very good point.

We played golf at Yankee Clipper and parked at the Stirling Heights rec center. There were about 10-15 people sitting out near the rec center in their golf carts or in folding chairs and they all looked they were having a good time socializing and keeping a reasonable distance from each other.

We seniors know how to make the best of a bad situation.

I miss "the good old days" of life in TV as much as anybody else...it's what attracted us to the place....it felt like a continuous Saturday night 'frat party'...anything your heart desired was available and close at hand...living the dream...the life of Riley

it will come back...perhaps not exactly...but it'll be figured out...and then I'll determine what I feel safe doing and what I'm not thrilled about doing until a vaccine is available

Today what brings me joy is the fact that I'm living in such a beautiful place...it's clean, very little crime...the overwhelming majority of the people are very friendly and share the same values that I do....easy access to food shopping and drug stores...the people that run the place are honorable...you drive about and it has the look and feel of a park with fresh flowers and greenery...it's very rare that you see any home that is not being taken care of....not too bad is it?

sometimes we need to just sit back and count our blessings and experience the joy that is already in our hearts

those that can't, will continue to seek joy....good luck to that, I hope you find it

A friend who teaches line dancing said she got an email from the rec department asking when she'd like to resume her classes. I don't remember the exact timeline they provided, but it was too soon for her and she responded that she'd prefer to wait until later in the year.

So planning is taking place to restart one activity, at least. It would be fairly straightforward to restrict line dancing attendance by room and space out the participants.

All pools will open on May 11th as well as some indoor and outdoor rec center activities.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not one to have something closed down and glad to see that pool table are open and you can enjoy it. Risk remain as does almost anything in life. There are parallels to pickle ball, in that a ball is touched by everyone, billards the cue ball, pickle ball the obvious. Both are told to use your own equipment, cue stick, pickle ball, paddle and ball. One played indoors the other outdoors where the virus is suppose to break down quicker. Larger are of play compared to the pool table room. My point is both could be available as could be the outdoor shuffle board, boche ball, house shoes. Amenities are paid by all and risks are taken by adults making a choice.

Swim?? Mostly what I see at the pool are elderly women standing in waist deep water chatting. At some pools I get dirty looks if I swim.

Then of course there are the water walkers which I do sometimes. But if they're going to allow people to do that, are they going to make sure that they are wearing masks and are six feet apart?

They don’t want to have to clean 40 sticks every hour. Anybody that plays with house sticks are either beginners or sharks.

My friend who teaches bone builders got the same email. However, the restrictions were so stringent--12 to the class, when they normally have 60. She has so many regulars that she has no idea how she would even deal that out fairly. I don't know what she has decided.

I can't imagine playing cards yet, everyone is so close at the tables, and the cards themselves are easily contaminated.

Why wear gloves? Gloves are just like your skin; they harbor germs. Just wash your hands and don't touch your face. Realize that if you are wearing gloves and you touch your face, you can contaminate yourself (eyes, nose and mouth) with what ever germs are on the gloves.
