Will We be Reimbursed for our amenity fee's?
We have paid for services that we are not receiving, does anyone think we will get a refund?
NOT! LOL the renters in the Squares are suffering and no compensation has come to them yet.
Lets see if the Mor*se will do the right thing!
BTW if you think they are building homes as normal; check the permits being pulled in the Sumter county building department.
Don't believe the propaganda everything is peachy.

This whine again, get a little education on how and what things are paid for here. I addressed this on March 18th in the below post.

Help us out here. Exactly what part of the world's current coronavirus pandemic is the Morse family responsible for?

Why don't you do the right thing and donate some money to the stores on the squares?

Oh, not your problem?

They are not paying the rec center employees and I would imagine that they are saving a lot of money of lights water and air conditioning.

And that doesn't matter. As the OP said, we are paying from amenities that we are not getting. Many car insurance companies are giving rebates because we are not using our cars as much. The only thing that has been open for the past six weeks that our fees pay for are the executive golf courses. Why are we paying for pools and rec centers that we are not allowed to use.

if you paid a green fee at a golf course and then told that you couldn't play you'd certainly want your money back. I believe that we are entitled to a partial refund.

I wondering if some sharp lawyer is going to start a class action suit.

I have no problem with everything being closed down, but I don't like paying for something that I'm not getting.

FYI, the Developer (aka the Morse Family) doesn't have anything to do with the collection and subsequent spending of the amenities fee.

Force Majeure.

Have the crackerjack lawyer look that up and you will understand why a lawsuit is a foolish and frivolous choice.

How much extra were we charged when the Rec department and others had to clean pools, repair items, fix golf courses that were under water, and overall cleanup when the Hurricane went through? Those were outside of normal actions.

The Villages has been getting ahead of maintenance during this downtime.

Everyone needs to take a pause and try to be reasonable.

Now back to our show.

I don't mind at all. There are still considerable things that are being maintained as usual. I am out about three hundred bucks but it is worth it to live here in this place and I feel certain that I will be repaid in many other ways for that money. People still have to pay their house note no matter if they are in it a lot or a little.

That was a lame reason, but I don't mind. I don't think any of it was their doing. I understand that they aren't our mother.

I wouldn't mind a reduction in the monthly fees, since many staff received very little pay. There was a great deal of savings on eletricity, on full salaries, and on supplies, etc.

Majority of laws suits are frivolous, it’s cheap to settle in most cases that fight it. That’s why there are so many ambulances chasing lawyers.

I like how all the golfers have nasty comments. Stop golf for 7 weeks we see who the real whiners are.

Everybody has to have yard work done, it is required by deed. The snowbirds pay for the same work they just don’t get to enjoy what they pay for.

OMG, this is certainly a new breed of residents we have posting here. We moved here in 2001. We left a beautiful condo in St Petersburg where we paid 340.00/mo amenity fee. We had one, I repeat ONE pool. No rec centers, no golf course, nothing. That fee is now 780.00/mo. We started here with something in the low hundreds fee in 2001 and now it's 146+/-. That's somewhere in the neighborhood of a 40.00/mo. increase in 19 years. A pretty insignificant increase in my estimation. Due to age and health problems experienced with this aging process, as one would reasonably anticipate, we have been less and less able to participate in all these amenities provided by TV. Never once, in all this time, has either of us ever considered that we were owed a reduction or refund in our amenity fee. All this complaining is just beyond my comprehension, especially after the number of times that the allocation of those fees has been explained in detail.
You are living in probably the safest, cleanest, and most beautifully maintained retirement community in Florida, if not the entire US, with probably the most vast assortment of amenities under normal circumstances. These are not normal circumstances we are living in right now. Please exercise a little patience and things will return to normal and you will be able to enjoy all those amenities again if you don't work yourself into a stroke or heart attack looking for things to complain about. :ohdear:

Nope.....never ask anyone to move, they won't anyway. I thought Don gave a pretty comprehensive review of what expenses go on that can't be stopped.....that's just business. I think the way they handled the closing was prudent, and frankly, they don't owe me a dime.

The water doesn't even have to be warm. Just wet the dryer sheet (I use Bounce) and the mess just melts off with no elbow grease needed. Rinse well with clean water.

They may not offer a reduction or a refund however I heard a rumor they were going to invest the huge windfall of unspent amenity fee payments in shares for ownership in the Brooklyn Bridge.

To think about a refund is one thing. I never pay for anything I don't get EVER, I want Bang For The Buck. In this particular case, I think for the bargain we get to live in this Beautiful place all the rest of the time that wanting Money Back Is SHAMEFUL, SHAMEFUL!

Agreed, and most do. But try slumming through CYVs you can spot some ( not majority) snowbird houses. Either they aren’t paying for yard work or there yard man taking advantage of them. Some have removed all landscape out front, but weed still poke through rock. some have had bricks put down covering more than 3/4 front yard and created extra driveway parking.

You make it sound as though everyone is being punished, except the golfers. Don't forget - the "moneymaker" you're talking about charges a $2 trail fee. If you're walking, you pay NOTHING. Executive courses are an amenity, and your amenity fee pays for it. It wasn't shut down because it didn't need to be shut down. It is EASY to maintain social distancing when playing golf. There's never more than 8 people at one hole at the same time, and they can very easily further limit that, which they've done, especially in requiring everyone to have their own cart (whether rented or otherwise) for awhile there.

The Country Clubs are not amenities, your amenity fee doesn't pay for them.

Golfer’s pay 4 dollars On executive courses if their to lazy to walk. Golfer’s aren’t special, o wait the are! They get can get special handicapped sticker just for golf so they don’t have to walk 20 steps to greens.
