I think everybody would agree that Bush and Republican congress over spent. That being said, it looks like Obama is determined to make Bush look like a cheapskate.

Bush's spending amounted to $12,000 per family.

Obama's spending is $36,000 per family.

Well, read the whole thing:

all the people who criticized the Bush spending? I took some time to read through some of the archives and do not see those names here anymore.

I wish they would come back here and explain why it is alright for Obama and the dems to spend 3 times what Bush spent.

Your question about the lack of those who wholeheartedly and with great passion supported President Obama during the primary and the campaign is one that I dont quite understand.

I suppose...either they are ONLY interested when the party tells them to be interested (campaigns).....they have given up on Obama totally and have nothing to say in defense, or ALL the verbage was due to the hate for George Bush !

Now, even for me who totally opposed Obama's philosophies, some of the criticism is sort of exaggerated and out of context (however if I made that point during the primary/campaign I was told that was politics) but you would think if you truely believed that you might take the time to defend. Of course not all are as interested in politics as some of us but I am personally suspicious of those who are only interested during presidential campaigns !!!!

As for Obama supporters on this forum, the majority stop posting when they are held to the fire to show reliable proof to back up what they say. There is no conversation from the majority of them with points and counterpoints to discuss important issues. They just spout out qoutes from some liberal handbook and post links to liberal blogger sites saying how unfairly they are treated and how ungodly capitalism and accountability are to the poor and downtrodden and the government must take care of everyone. I have come to believe they are afraid to read or think outside their closed minded little worlds.

:DThat was a great sentence, BK. You made me chuckle. You reminded me of someone long ago in my past.

I just do not understand. Bucco made a good point about the people who come out during the campaign and then go into hiding.

Deep down inside I don't consider myself a Republican or Democrat. I just like to be considered a down to earth, commonsense conservative. I like to read and understand what is really happening.
I would like to think that alot of people feel that they made a mistake on their vote on the last election day and they are too proud to admit it, but I have heard too many times that their vote was an anti-Bush vote. Last I heard, Bush didn't run.

I didn't realize I sounded so harsh. I just get upset that someone may have a different view point or a take on something as serious as our lives, our children's lives and our world; and when you ask them to explain something, you don't get an answer.

Who knows, I might learn something if they'd explain or offer something relevant to read. Oh, well. As my Mom used to say, "The truth will stand when the world's on fire."

I don't really think that these people really "think." If the answer isn't on their list of talking points, they just move on.

WOW!!! Pat, you need to help me with a problem. I read all the lies Obama has told and I am real upset if they are based on fact. How disgusting can a man get?

I am a 22 year military veteran. We military folks are drilled and drilled that we must follow our Commander in Chief blindly or the whole concept of military order falls apart.

Should we stop this practice?

If the military respects and follows the President blindly, are the military services all wrong?

Does the military that go to war take on the guilt of the wrong doing of the President?

Do the solders take on the responsibility for the money spent out of our kids future.

I don't know whether to throw away my military teachings to follow Glen Beck and gang or just continue to believe in my elected President.

If Glen and Klan are correct, then I feel I should change affiliation and follow them blindly.

But if the President is correct, I must stay the course I am on.

I think that at least one side of this debate is lying, just which side is and how to I decide.

Being ex military myself and being surrounded here in the Villages with many vets, I was loyal to my President in matters of war and military, but was never ever told I must blindly follow my President under any and all circumstances other than war. I was under the impression that kind of attitude was reserved for....well, lets just say other type countries.

Sorry bu-co, Your Wrong. The president of the United States is the top of the chain of command when it comes to giving orders. Orders for the Military are just that, they are not a request, they are a direct order.

But that said, If I can be convinced that the President is in fact a trader to the United States, I will Join the Glen Beck Mob that wants to overthrow the current government. Before I do that, I need something from someone more reliable and honest than Rush or Sarah. But give me a man or women I can truly trust and I am with you all the way. Otherwise, all you have is he said, she said etc. With that as evidents, I will stay with the man the public majority put in office and not go with a small disgruntled mob.

Thanks for the reminder. I hesitated before commenting because he is so off the wall it is ridiculous. I am waiting for him to someday, somehow, give credibility to what he says by linking to some site or attributing something but doubt he will. I am just interested in what he could possibly read for information.

You are absolutely right. But even in war there must be a provision about following a mad man. Impeachment comes to mind.

Thank you for that. But as a retired military man, I am ready and available for recall at any time, so I am still on call.

On the serious side, and since you did not slam me, who would you recommend I read to get some honest assessment of Pres Obama? Now please not Mr Beck, Mr Limbaugh or Ms Sarah. I also do not take my information from Bill Moyer, or anyone on MSNBC. They are a biased and as far off the truth as FOX. I guess what I am looking for is a straight down the middle person and they may not exist. Although, Bill Oreilly is as close to center as I have listened to so far.

Have you ever been fly fishing or seen it done? You know how you throw out the bait and pull it back and throw it out and pull it back until you get a bite? A mindless pastime just for sport and to kill time. I suppose it could be fun if you don't have anything better to do. I just wouldn't want to be the fish that takes the bait.

I read daily the NY Times, albeit they sometimes do not report it all...I read the Wall St Journal daily..try that for a start..one leans to the left and one to the right...try this website to see both sides....http://www.realclearpolitics.com/....and from that website save some of the newspapers and writers there for reference. Read the Economist as I do every chance I get...a bit left but you can learn a lot.

Then so you know that most folks on here do not make things up...google this organization.....JOURNOLIST....spelled just like that. Read that...then come on back and give opinions.

We are NOT controlled by the MILITARY in this country and we do not pledge BLIND allegiance to anyone.

realclearpolitics.com Looks like a great site. I will spend some time there. Thanks for the information.

Oh, and thanks for the civility. If there was more of your kind of communication on this site, you would have more discussions with the left.

EVERYONE HERE is for the most part very gracious and WANT to hear other views.

HOWEVER, you cannot come on here and start taking folks to task on subjects that they feel passion for and are well versed in. You have got to present your case with a bit of class and without the sarcasm and venom you have shown thus far.

ALL of us are Americans, NOT JUST YOU....many if not most of us served in the military..NOT JUST YOU...many of us have been involved in politics for many many years.

Trust me..if you are considerate when you post, folks will be considerate of YOU when they reply even if they dont agree with you.

Another suggestion...if you dont know anything about the subject being discussed, DONT POST...dont post to those threads because you are a democrat or a Republican or an Obama supporter or against Obama. Just read them and learn. Make sure you KNOW something of what you speak....this forum is a great way to learn...a great way to formulate opinion that maybe you didnt even know you had. Be excited if a post makes you read more to learn...if a post makes you dig deeper to determine how you feel.

BK, What is your opinion about extending unemployment benefits. My experience is that when my unemployment gets extended, I will not look for work. I used to milk it to death when I was younger.

Guest

I believe that Congress should increase incentives for businesses to invest and stimulate the economy to create jobs. Unemployment insurance benefits were established to cushion an involuntarily laid off worker with income while they search for a new job. If there aren't any companies hiring, unemployment benefits become a cycle without end.

Studies have shown that when the government increases the length of time people collect unemployment insurance benefits; guess what, the length of time people spend unemployed increases also.

I've read studies that show employers who have laid-off workers when there is low demand are slower to rehire workers while they are still using unemployment insurance benefits. It's sorta like keeping them on call without the benefit of benefits if you know what I mean.

Everything you say is correct. However it falls on deaf ears to one who has no interest in what you say and is only interested in what he says himself.
