Are there rules or procedures to follow in order to post political signage and flags within TV?
If not, should a protocol be set in place?

In most of the Villages, signs are not permitted outside the windows at any residential property. There are no Villages-specific restrictions on flags, but IF you choose to have an American flag on your flagpole, it must be at the top, above any other flag on that flagpole. If you have more than one flagpole, the American flag (if you choose to fly it) must be above all other flags.

Has been discussed before. As for political "flags," apparently TV will do nothing about them, because they think that whatever you fly on a flagpole is protected by Florida law. Actually, there are specific genres mentioned in the Fl law, and political is not one of them, but TV thinks they can't do anything about it.

As far as signs are concerned, you would have to check the deed restrictions in your district. In our district 8, signs are not allowed:

Signs – No sign of any kind shall be displayed to public view on a Homesite or any dedicated or reserved area without prior written consent, except customary name and address signs and one sign advertising a property for sale or rent which shall be no larger than twelve (12) inches wide and twelve (12) inches high and which shall be located wholly within the Home and only visible through a window of a Home with the following exceptions: Security: Small decals or small signs may be placed on doors, windows and planting beds next to the house.Lawn Care: State law allows for a sign to be placed on the newly-treated lawn until dry.

If you Google "Signs allowed in (your district) in The Villages, Florida," you will quickly find your deed restrictions.

What I have a problem with is the golf carts on the side of the cart path. The signs are freedom of speech, but get off of the path, to confront people with your thoughts. Almost ran into a person and cart coming around a blind corner, trying to stop people to listen to their issues

And how many minds do you think they will change?

I believe you are right, I think 99% of people have already know who they will vote for that last 1%, well, they will probably decide in the voting booth.

Everyone have a great day, be nice!

Roofing company signs in yards everywhere as the company’s go door to door soliciting business. There may be rules but no enforcement!

Personally I feel politics have become ugly and bring out the worse in people and signs will just make people angry and prompt bad feelings and conflict. I PRAY TV won't allow them.

You can always fly the American flag. There are flag protocols for flying our flag respectfully. You can find them on line.

Definitely should not be allowed to fly an 'advertisement' (name) for a 'political' entity, in office or not, on a flagpole, typically under the Stars and Stripes". Nothing but blatant, advertising.
Course TV will not step up.

instead of risking the wrath that obviously is going to come one's way as a result of posting a sign on your lawn (think about the uproar over those little white crosses)

I encourage those that want to put up a sign to learn to use semaphore instead

okay it may not be fashionable of late...but think about the hidden benefits:
- low cost approach to get your message across to others
- learning a new skill will help to keep your mind stay active,
- lots of upper body exercise waving those flags about
- you can be festive and change the flags to match the seasons / holiday themes...(yup, even political banners if you want to live on the edge)
- you're outside getting fresh air (wear a hat and sunscreen, and bug spray after 6pm)...
- you'll get waves and honks from passer-byes....
- you may even be approached to join the Villages Cheerleaders....
- you can have a boom box playing an appropriate theme in the background to reinforce your message (or just go with Y.M.C.A.)
- and you can do all of this standing in the safety of your own front yard
- you make a mistake, nobody's really gonna know
- eventually you'll be written up in The Daily Sun...result - BINGO! your message is delivered to every single subscriber for free! (heck if you dress up in a silly outfit you might even make placement 'above the fold'

just saying

No need for political signs or flags. Most people know who they are going to vote for and don’t need “ Trump 2020” or “Go with Joe” to change their mind. I personally wish they wouldn’t allow them. I’m sick of seeing them whenever I’m out. JMO

Speaking of signs - You can't have a sign dictating "House for Sale" unless its a small 12" X 12" inside your house window but seems OK that you can place 24" X 24" "Yard Sale" signs all around our neighborhood corners...

An excellent point. I think the only signs some folks would oppose would be the other folks' signs with which they disagree.

I don't care for political signs, flags or bumper stickers.
It only really separates the intelligent from the idiots by self advertising.

Political campaign signs are a form of advertising. I don't care if they are allowed or not, but those who say that advertising doesn't work are just inaccurate. That is like telling Budweiser to stop all television commercials because people already know which beer to drink.

The "house for sale" sign rule is routinely violated by non-Villages real estate businesses, and there seems to be almost no enforcement. It seems to me that a simple phone call to these businesses could force them to comply with the rule. They are supposed to be "professionals".

Who cares? If all you can find to worry about is someone's sign or a little cross in their yard, then the problem is most likely not theirs, but YOURS. Sorry, but life is more interesting to me if everyone is NOT the same.
