I’m using an iPad Pro. Beginning 5/13, text is corrupted both in the forums and individual messages. I’ve opened a TOTV ticket but curious if anyone else is seeing the same corrupted text?

Is it possible you changed a font setting on your computer? I am not familiar enough with your equipment to go beyond that suggestion. Perhaps someone in the Apple group can comment.

Yes, the comma after “yes” is under the “s” etc.

No changes other than an iPad reboot to see if that would clear up the corrupted text.

It is happening as well on other sites such as Facebook. A new nasty virus of another form. I have no patience with new nasty viruses.

Yes, I have an iPad 2(?) and noticed it today.

I am using the “Duck Duck Go” browser on my iPad and have no issues.
Safari and Firefox browsers (on my iPad) have this problem.

I’m trying Duckduckduckgo and yes, still the same problem on iPad. iPhone also has same problem - my iOS was automatically updated last night. Rebooting changed nothing.

I also use an iPad Pro, using software 13.3.1. I didn’t post anything yesterday, but as you can see, I am certainly having trouble now with punctuation and spacing. I did not have any problems yesterday when text messaging or writing in FaceBook.

Yes I see it too, including on many messages in this thread. Why would we not think the problem is with Talk of the Villages website, not our various computers or browser/ search engine choices? I don’t see this looking at other websites, only here.
Look at all the errors just in this post!

I’m having the same issue and it’s only with TotV. I just noticed it today. I’m using an iPad, but with the old 13.3.1 version of iOS. It happens with both Safari and Chrome. This sure looks like a TotV issue. I’ll try it with my computer later to see if it shows there, if it happens just with posts made with an iPad, or if it is with all posts.

My iPad with “Duck Duck Go” browser is still fine, no corrupt text. Safari and Firefox still has the problem.
So using Safari I switched back to the old version of TOTV and the problem went away (same on Firefox).
So it seems to be this new version of TOTV that is the issue.
To clarify - I am using the “Duck Duck Go” browser APP with no issue.

Yep. Me too, iPad 7 with Chrome.
Similar issue on Android Samsung S3 tablet and Chrome, but not on my Android phone.
Similar issue on Windows 10 with Chrome.
If I copy/paste text into a word document, no corruption of the text.
I deduce a problem on the Talk of the Villages side.

I did not make it clear in my original post but I am using the “Duck Duck Go” IOS browser app.
I did not mean that I am accessing the TOTV website through the “Duck Duck Go” search engine in the Safari browser.
The “Duck Duck Go” app is working fine for me.

If you revert to the old version of the website, no text issues.
There is a link to revert if you scroll to the bottom of the page, and reload.

Very interesting.....I went to the old version and the text error is gone! But if I follow a link in the e-mail from the Villages it goes to the new version.....

I'm seeing misplaced commas after a few other words,
at first I thought my fingers were just getting ahead of each other and tried to correct it

Interesting. I’m using an iPad Pro, 1st gen, updated to 13.4.1 on the new site version with no errors showing. Using Safari. While I can see the errors on the screenshot, none appear in any of the posts or threads I’ve viewed today or yesterday, even the ones that mention how bad their post appears to them.

Different Mod here...on a Windows 10 desktop and also seeing these "corrupted" text posts. We will alert the system owners. I doubt it is any kind of virus...probably something in how fonts are translated.

Something to do with the latest update maybe? If so I would hope Apple would quickly fix it. No problems yet on my 3 year old iPhone se

Yes, I am seeing the same issue on my iphone 11. Since update. All words around commas and apostrophes are affected. But only in this forum.

iPad os 13.4.1 was released more than a month ago. There have been no recent iPad os updates that might explain the corrupted text. It’s most likely a recent TOTV format change.

Yes, back to normal with the default "new" version of the forum software.
I wonder what had happened...

I have three iPads. The two newer ones were just updated and now both experience the same script problems as others have noted. The third iPad is a very early version and no longer receives Apple updates. No script problems with the old "non updated" iPad

Yeah, the characters were ok, but commas kept sliding UNDER wherever it should have gone! Thought it was only me.

I had 13.4.1 auto-installed 2 nights ago. I don’t think Apple is so savvy as to install everybody at the same time. Don’t be so quick to tell others that can’t be the reason. I also was getting the misplaced punctuation until a few minutes ago.
It seems to be clear now.

Rather terse admonition, don’t you think? I install software updates usually within a week of their release because they may address security vulnerabilities. 13.4.1 was released 4/07/20. So for the last 5 weeks, No one has reported this issue on TOTV, which would suggest that it’s not an “Apple” issue. Is that logical enough for you?

Sorry, I didn’t mean it to be.
Just trying to say that not everyone gets updates at the same time.
I had stated that it seems to be cleared up. Well I now rescind that statement as I am still seeing it on this site. But I never saw it prior to the update. It could be that something is just not jiving between this iOS version and TOTV.

Apple’s iOS 13 had a wide font issue that might be causing your problem. Upgrade to iOS 14.1, the current version. Just go to Settings, General, Software Update and follow the prompts. I think this will take care of it, and couldn’t hurt.

Admin was alerted early this morning and replied back by 11:30 that it was all fixed. An issue with the font/underlying code. No biggie. If you are still seeing the 'droopy' comma, you might have to clear your cache.
Thanks for alerting us to this.
